Hi there, never rolled around the McLean PLUZ before and was curious how accessible Whiskey Mountain is by car this time of year. I have an AWD subaru with proper off-road tires. Any advice / recent experiences would be appreciated. Not looking to camp at this time but potentially later in the summer if that’s possible. Cheers!
The post says it all. I had an existing reservation (oTENTik), which I wont able to make it

I live in Calgary and i really want to do a bunch of hiking and fishing this year, im hoping too combine my too hobbies and do some good hike on fishing. Does anyone have any good recommendations?
Edit: i just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing suggestions, i have been following along and looking them up, its shaping up to be a great year for some camping adventures and have everyone in here to thank!!!
Looking for a short solo camp trip someone in kananaskis country! I’m worried about safety so preferably somewhere not to isolated from other campers but would still love to have my own space!
Also essential that I’d have my car nearby.. I’m a bit too paranoid otherwise. I’d love somewhere quite beautiful and nice to hike, with a body of water nearby but I’m not very picky about that. :) would appreciate any help thank you!
Girlfriend and I are looking into a months stay at a campground around Calgary and are looking for suggestions and advice.
I'm new to backpacking/hiking/camping and im planning a hiking trip this summer with my buddies. We had a great time hiking up McKirdy Mountain and camping on the summit, and I have been itchin to get back out there. But all the planing is on me this year and im having trouble finding a awsome mountain trail to top Mckirdy. I have looked at hundereds of trails on Alltrails but I havent found one that is comparable or harder and steller views. So if you have lots of experience or any recommendations or just general advice would be very helpful.
There is 4 of us all together, we all have proper hiking gear ( bears pray, osprey bags, camelpacks) we breezed through 15km 1500m elevation looking for somthing harder and mabye a bushcraft shelter advice and tip are much appreciated.
Hello, I was reserving a site for the long weekend back in early march and had noticed all campgrounds near Banff and kootenays had Friday booksble but every single site was unavailable for sat and sun. Is this their way to combat no shows or did no one reserve Friday and every site in every campground just was reserved for sat/sunday?
Hi all, wife and I moved here a little while back and where we used to live we did LOTS of crown land camping (always carry in - carry out , quiet and respectful).
I'm looking for PULZ with lakes or rivers and from what I've seen it's really only Abraham lake that offers that but... people I've spoken with said that area is where people go to do drugs, rage, make a lot of racket and make a mess
There was a few of those spots where we came from that we avoided like the plague... are there any other PULZ with water that are quiet? Is all of Abraham lake a giant rave or are there quiet nooks around there?
Thanks!
Hello! We are novice campers, and have a few trips under our belt so advice on camping with kids is welcome as well, but if you had to choose between camping in Jasper vs Banff what would you choose and why? What campgrounds for tent camping do you like best? We'll likely only get to do one this year. What are things you like to do in the area? Thanks!
Hey guys what would make camping in Alberta better?
What should be offered from parks?
what should fellow campers do to improve experience of others?
Whats your favourite part about Alberta camping also?
Hi! Total camping noob here. Never camped in my life, but would like to start!
Help needed: I'm confused about how to find and book campgrounds - I see some with Parks Canada, or Jasper Tourism. How do I know which are good?
Help needed: Any recommendations for quiet camping on a lake, within a 4-5 hour drive of Edmonton? Being in nature is the main priority. The less people (especially kids, sorry) the better!
Thank you :)
We are trying to search for a new outdoor camping rug for outside of our camper. There is lots on Amazon but hard to know quality. We want heavier duty with edges that don’t easily roll off, water proof etc. Where did you get yours?
Looking for some recommendations for spring camping for my husbands 30th birthday. About 3-4 day trip. Preference for back country, quiet and by a body of water. He loves fly fishing so hoping he could do a bit of that as well. Thanks!
I have a 21ft trailer traveling with a 11month old. I'm looking to plan a trip to Edmonton and Calgary. I'm thinking of spending a day or two in each City and majority of my time sightseeing/hiking.
So, I guess I'm looking for places to camp near each City, and 2hours away from each City.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hello!
My girlfriend and I recently moved to central Alberta and would like to go camping a few times this year. What are your suggestions for campgrounds west/south of Rocky Mountain House? Ideally we’d like to be in/close to the mountains. Btw we will be tenting.
Anyone have any good group camping suggestions?! Would like somewhere as close to Calgary as possible but would also enjoy to be near swimable water- if you can float that is a mega bonus! Also would like somewhere some what secluded or not near other campers so we don’t have to be quiet at like 10 haha
Looking to get out and test run out new travel trailer within and hour or so of Edmonton in the next few weeks. Are all PP FCFS with no service? Would any have water fill or sani dump, or best to fill up at home?
Any suggestions are appreciated!
What are my odds of getting a spot here on a Saturday in late July? I was able to snag 2 lake Magog sites for Assiniboine for the following Sunday and Monday night. To fit my itinerary I am trying to find a place to camp close to mount shark. I could arrive as early as 5AM to the Spray Lakes West Campground. Am I reaching on this or do I have a chance?
Just wondering if anyone knows if there’s any cell service at waterton campsites? Planning to go camping around there, likely castle falls campground. Can’t find anything online indicating whether or not there’s any service near by, hopeong someone has been there and know!! Thanks!
Edit: if anyone has any general advice/ knowledge about this campground, I would greatly appreciate it! We are new campers looking for some advice!
Me and group of my friends (5 in total) are planning to go camping to Jasper in May long weekend (17-19) from Edmonton. None of us has really done it before so we’re looking for suggestions on good camp sites there and how’s the weather usually around that time? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Trying to keep my cool navigating this new and less intuitive booking platform, I see the option pop up under my account settings and thought "oh cool a waitlist function - finally!"
For the life of me cannot figure out how to use this - I found a favorite site that's already booked for some dates in June, thinking this would be a good opportunity to test this out. Anyone been able to figure out how this function works?
I'm looking for a paddling trip I've not done before. I'll be with a group of men in canoes and kayaks and we want to do a longer trip of between 5 and 8 days. We've done a number of lazy rivers - Kootenay below Canal Flats, Columbia, and Red Deer rivers, as well as some flat water trips. Definitely don't want to exceed a class 3 rapid.
Has anyone got any suggestions?
Okay, we are absolutely stumped. What are you meant to put in the zones?? We were lucky enough to be in queue once reservations opened in January and got through to being able to reserve a spot, but this was holding us back. Both in our mobile and desktop versions, this tab doesn’t have any drop downs? Is it supposed to? What do we put in here? 😫
Hello everyone, we are a party of 8 people and 2 people are tentative to join us in Banff-Jasper trip. I have got the camp spots but I am having hard time finding RV that sleeps 8 people. I have some questions on that.
- I am thinking we can have a tent for 2 people if we become a party of 10. We can get an RV that sleeps 8 people and rest can sleep in a tent. Is it okay? I have booked 2 camp spots as max 6 people are allowed per camp spot.
- I came across very few options on Outdoorsy and RVezy but searching online people say that peer to peer rental might not always be great. I have younger kids and elder (70+ age) people with me so I want to have very smooth experience for them. Canadream and CruiseCanada do not have an RV that sleeps 8 people. Do you know any local place that rents out Class C (that sleeps 8+) RV? Or Outdoorsy and Rvezy can be reliable?
Thank you.
I was looking at Kaninaskis\Peter Laugheed backcountry - specifically for my son and myself. Has anyone have any experience in this area? Turbine Canyond looked pleasent, as did Three Isle Lake.
