A place for discussion of Apple's operating system for the Apple Watch

I start with the Typography watchface - it's very simple and perfect for AOD. I prefer it over the Modular once I have the AOD activated. What are your recommendations?
I am facing a production issue with my HealthKit-based watchOS app that plays music during activities based on heart rate. In the production version (TestFlight or App Store), the screen times out whenever the user lowers their wrist, which disrupts music playback and the activity session.
The app works perfectly when run directly from Xcode, maintaining background processing and music playback. All necessary permissions (e.g., HealthKit and background modes like Workout Processing and Background Audio) have been configured, and the app uses HKWorkoutSession and WKExtendedRuntimeSession.
I’ve verified my implementation, but the timeout issue persists only in the production build. Could this be related to app entitlements, watchOS runtime limitations, or other production-specific constraints?
Any guidance on resolving this behavior would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Now that complications are added via a new widget target do we still need a watch app to create a complication for Apple Watch? I have an iOS app with widgets but I'm not sure how to start and test this.
When receiving a text, I get the haptic ding and then I immediately hear the message send noise on my watch. It always makes me think oh no did I accidentally do something? Anyone else?
I recently bought an "Apple Watch Series 10 (46mm)". My current watchOS is 11.0, and I am thinking of whether I should update it to watchOS 11.1.
Is there any new bugs introduced in watchOS 11.1? Does the battery life get improved / does it show improvement in other aspects after updating to watchOS 11.1? Any experience or comment?
Last but not least, I heard of some malfunctioning in "sleep tracking" after updating to watchOS 11.1. Is it real and is it commonly seen?
Please feel free to let me know any thoughts! Great thanks!!
Yes, I think it should be in the control center. It's definitely very inconvenient to go through the settings because it is a feature that should be switched on/off rather easily and the control center would be the perfect spot for it.
I haven’t used my Watch since WatchOS 9 but now we are on 11. There’s two things using music on the Watch I can’t figure out.
Now it’s gone, all I can see is about 6 albums as that’s all recents sync on the watch itself compared to like 30 on the phone. Did they remove it?
After the update, I began to notice that when a new dynamic element appears in the stacks, it starts to light up in a locked mode, although I always have to return to the watch face. Is this some kind of bug or new reality?
Has anybody else noticed that 100% does not mean your watch is fully charged? I have seen that a few times recently. I think it says it is 100% when it is somewhere around 90-95%. It is kind of like how “full” is reported on the gas level in a vehicle.
I always charge my watch before I go to bed. Usually I put it on the charger in time, sometimes I’m late or we go to bed a little early so it doesn’t get as much time on the charger. Last night I pulled my watch off the charger just as it hit 100%. A few minutes later it was 99% and kept dropping. Other days I leave my watch on the charger longer and it takes 15 minutes or more before it falls to 99%.
I don’t remember this happening with 10.x but I have also been more conscious of the battery level on my watch because it really took a hit with 11.0 and 11.0.1. It is better with 11.1.
This update includes improvements and bug fixes, including a fix for an issue with writing breathing disturbances data to HealthKit for some users. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website: https://support.apple.com/100100
What is the default watch face of watchOS 11?
Hi,
ever since I updated to watchOS 11, my minimum and maximum breaths per minute not showing in my health app. This is an important measure for me, as I've noticed a correlation between how low my breaths go and level of tiredness. Is there a way to bring that back? I know the new vitals app shows the average breaths, but I'm really interested in the minimum values, as well.
I’m getting this weird bug in the Watch App on my phone, where normally tapping on the “Model Number” field in “General” -> “About” would show the model number that begins with “Axxxx” would have no effect. Strangely, when I tap on it and navigate to another app and switch back, the “Axxxx” model number would be shown.
Anyone also experienced similar bug?
FYI I’m on iOS 18.0.1 and watchOS 11.0.1.
Ever since WatchOS 11 the battery life on my Apple Watch Ultra is now less than two days.
Why introduce new features if it detrimentally affects battery life?
This is a cross post from r/AppleWatch but have had no responses, so I thought I would try here. I can't turn Battery Optimization off.
I've gone into the Settings, Battery, Battery Health and turned off Optimized Charge Limit. But at night when I put my watch on the charger, it doesn't show it's charging. Today I got up much earlier than usual and my watch was only at 85%, so it seems to be still in optimized. Any thoughts? Apple Watch 10 46mm running watchos 11.0.1.
I understand that OS updates are now finished for the Apple Watch SE 1. However, I know for example that the iPhone 8 continued to receive security updates even after OS updates ceased. Is that also the case with the Apple Watch SE 1? Or is it now technically a security risk to use?
I live in Europe, and every time I walk to my local supermarket (which is a 10 minute walk) I get a notification.
I find it hilarious, you get to see how the workout alert metrics are calibrated for American audiences 😂
Am I the only one that thinks this way? And am I the only one this happens to?
Are you also having battery problems with your Apple Watch since watchOS 11.0.1? Personally the battery is very random Some days (especially after restarting the watch or re-pairing it) the battery is good but it only lasts a day or two Then some days I end the day at 20% in less than 24 hours even though I don't have the always on display and I don't do any particular activity (while the day before I finished at 40% on the same type of day and the same parameters) I hope watchOS 11.1 will fix this problem Am I the only one? When will the new update be released?
Apple Watch Ultra gen 1.
Last charged to 100% yesterday at 9:00 am. At 9:00 am today I am at 28% battery when I usually sit at over 50% at the 24 hour mark.
Every fkn time Apple puts out a new OS version (like from 10 to 11) there is severe battery drain, whether for iPhone or Watch or MacBook. It's getting really old.
