I want to purchase the iPhone Xs for my mom, as she’s holding on to a low-end Motorola from 2022. It takes horrible photos in all lighting conditions. My mom loves to take selfies and use social media. Let’s not lie: for those two use cases, the iPhone excels with its optimisation.
My mom uses her phone for WhatsApp, banking, TikTok, Instagram and e-mail. She saw the pictures I took of her on my iPhone SE 2022 and loved the image processing. My mom swore by her Android devices, until she fell in love with the iPhone’s camera. And in that regard, the Xs still is plenty capable.
I want to buy an iPhone for her, but we’re a low-income household and as a student, I don’t have more than €150 to spend, in order to reach my personal saving goals.
I found a refurbished iPhone Xs on the used market with 100% battery health (recently replaced) and some light marks on the housing. As my mom is super rough on her devices, I don’t see this as an issue and the stainless steel will look sexier than any low-end Android for the same price. I’ll get her an OtterBox on clearance and it’ll look fine.
I was wondering if the Xs is still worth it in 2024. It lacks 5G and it’ll probably lose support for major iOS updates next year together with the Xr. But for her use cases, I think it’ll perform decent enough. I see tons of clients at work use ‘obsolete’ iPhones, like the 8 Plus, on the daily. I see my grandma use her iPhone 8 for just about everything.
The only phone I found in this price bracket is an open box Xiaomi 12 Lite for around €200. But with accessories the price will be steep. It also Apple’s social media optimisation and I don’t want to spend more, as she always manages to crack her display or lose her phone.
I think getting the SE 2020 would be wiser, as they’re dirt cheap on the used market and supported for an extra year. But she wouldn’t be as happy as I am with my 2022 bezel chunk, as she’s always used high screen-to-body ratio Android devices.
Please help me make a purchase decision. Thank you!
I just changed my battery with Apple on January 2024 and my battery health already dropped to 95%? few weeks ago I checked and its 98%. Not sure where it went wrong.
Currently im on ios 17.3 and i dont play any heavy games. However I noticed my XS gets overheated frequently. How can I fix this? I really love my XS and im not thinking of upgrading any sooner :/
Alright, too many posts about the latest iOS version on the iPhone XS. Feel free to share your thoughts and opinion in the thread. Thank you.
Hello Guys,
Few years back i upgraded from Iphone Xs to 12Pro basically for Camera. I gave my old phone to my wife. And with the time pass. I hate how bad the touch is. Photos are good but still photos from Xs were not bad either. But i stated hate touching my 12Pro.
Now i am thinking about to sell my 12Pro and i could buy Xs 256Gb for 150€.
What you think.? Or better upgrade to something else. I also dont want to spend more than 100€.
Thanks
Hi, I have a dilemma. I've been having my XS 64gb for a long time now and would like to upgrade.
First of all, 64gb ain't cutting it for me, I barely have space to even use my phone, to the point where it completely crashes and have to delete some apps or even photos and videos to make it usable again.
Secondly, the battery health is deplorable. The maximum capacity is at 73% now and it has to be charged twice a day. So yeah, a big upgrade is needed.
I have two options as for now; a brand new iPhone 15 Pro with 128gb or an used iPhone 14 Pro with 256gb (BH at 93%).
What do you guys think? Would you sacrifice the storage for a newer phone? Or just get the 14 Pro.
hi, im thinking of getting an iphone xs of 256gb and all ive heard is that the battery is so low you have to charge it twice a day, the phone im gonna buy is between 85% and 95% of battery health and i dont want to be charging my phone all day, i dont use the phone so much, accordingly to my actual phone i use it for arround 2 hours a day spending arround 30 minutes to 1 hour on youtube, 15 to 30 minutes on twitter (X) and depending on the day i could play some games like genshin impact or wild rift for 30 minutes to 1 hour, so between 2 and 3 hours of use, will i have to charge it twice or three times a day or will the battery last all day?
Posted here before (I think), had another quick question.
Will be purchasing one of these phones this weekend.
• iPhone XS 85% Battery Health, 256GB for $165 • or iPhone 12 Mini 80% Battery Health, 64GB for $198.
I'll be using this as a sort of secondary phone; mainly for messaging, calls, and social media.
What would you do? 👀 Thanks!
Hey Guys,
I want to unlock an Iphone Xs with Code an I think ICloud is also on it. I cant remember any data Codes. I lost it years ago, got it back a few months ago from an old friend.
I know i can fix it when i change the logicboard, but right now i only got a second i phone X (complete). And I am writing you with my current phone, iphone 15.
Is there anybody who can help me to fix it via software or fix it with a different logicboard.
Greetings from Germany Grandpa Money
Hi
I have a Xs 256GB and I am wondering if I should update to 17.4 for stolen device protection because no theif has the right to my information.
is it worth it?
Thanks
I've had my XS since 2019. Great phone, love it and it's still in pretty good shape, no scratches, no screen issues, never had any issues with it. But the battery is sitting at 74% max capacity. I use my phone a lot, so there's some cases where i've had to charge it twice a day, which is a huge incovenience. I've thought about changing the battery and holding on to it for a few more months, at least until Apple releases the new IPhone 16, but there's this other thing:
My XS only has 64gb, which no longer works for me. I really need more storage capacity. My XS is so full that i can't even install the most recent updates to it (just so you have an idea, my XS is still on version 15.4). It's starting to get on the way. Yesterday i wanted to buy some tickets to a music festival and i couldn't even download the app to purchase them because it required a version that i couldn't install because of the lack of storage, so i had to ask for a friend to hold the tickets for me on his phone.

I was thinking about upgrading to the IPhone 15 Pro Max. I'm choosing the Max version because i've always liked larger screens, and the Pro version because i really want the upgrade to a 120hz screen. I've messed around with the IPhone 15 Pro at a local shop and coming back from that 120hz despite only using for a few minutes back to my 60hz screen was sad. Also, i want a phone that can last me a long time, as i do everything on my phone and i'm really dependent on it. What do you think? Should i wait a couple more months until the new 16 gets released or just upgrade it as soon as possible?
Its fixed guys no worry
Just wanted to share my recent discovery - RoamFlux, a new eSIM app that offers unparalleled customization options. RoamFlux lets you choose the exact amount of data and duration you need, and even allows you to add multiple countries to a single plan.
They're currently offering a promotion where you can get $6 in credits (enough for a 1 GB free trial in most places) by using the code "FREEGB" when signing up.
When you go battery replacement , do you keep the phone on? Do you worry about person who replaces your battery get your private data ? Thanks
Currently using a Pixel 7 Pro, but missing some iOS quality of life features (and I miss Messenger just flat out working correctly).
Those of you still rocking the XS, would it be worth to pick one up for around $150 to use for the next 1-2 years, then trade in?
I’ve my iPhone XS, with a 100% battery health. Is fast, the camera is still good enough for me, and to be honest… it is still the most beautiful iPhone ever madre.
Although, I don’t know if it is true that iPhone XS will update to iOS 18, and how will it works on this device. Now having the black iPhone 15 in my mind which looks sick tho.
What do you think? Will you upgrade your iPhone XS? Or do you think is still a great phone?
I’m at 78% battery life for my iPhone XS. Had really no other issues with the phone besides battery life. I understand I’m pushing year 5-6 on my phone and that I’ll eventually I’ll need to upgrade. How much more years can I expect to squeeze out the iPhoneXS with a new battery? Is it better to just send it with an upgrade?
It’s s still a rumors but im really hoping that they’ll support IOS 18 For iPhone XS!
Help me pls
I have base model xs that’s’ at 85% battery health Face ID broken and cracked back glass. Thinking of upgrading to a 12 or google pixel
How long will it get iOS updates and security updates after no longer supported?
