Hi everyone,
I’m facing some personal matters that require me to travel back to my home country for a while, and I’m looking for a trustworthy place where I can leave my dog during that time. Ideally, I’d like to find a sanctuary or a similar environment where he can be well cared for, get some socialization, and feel comfortable while I’m away.
Does anyone have recommendations for good dog care facilities or sanctuaries in the charlotte area? (Although ill travel for him) I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions!
Thanks in advance!
In 2024, Trump won South carolina State House District 57 by 11 points. At the same time, incumbent State Rep. Lucas Atkinson, a Democrat, won it by 17.49 points against his Republican challenger, Kevin Coleridge and overpreformed both Harris AND Trump.
Trump/Atkinson: Atkinson +3.61
Harris/Atkinson: Atkinson +11
There were four precincts, one in Horry County and three in Marion County, that went for Trump and also voted for Atkinson.
Atkinson is one of only two anti-abortion Democrats left in the state legislature. South Carolina’s other Pro-Life Democrat, State Rep. Coach Hayes of Dillon County, went completely unopposed this year.
While no longer pro-life (flipped positions after Dobbs), State Rep. Russell Ott of Calhoun County was elected to the South Carolina State Senate. Ott defeated incumbent State Senator Dick Hartpootlian (whom represented convicted murderer Alex Murdoch) in the primary back in June. Full analysis of that race coming soon.
My wife and I are moving to South Carolina as I am being relocated for work. We’re in our early 30’s and are not into the nightlife scene much anymore. I will be working for a company as a sales rep. One of my locations that I will be traveling to is in Gaston and the other work location is in McConnells. The rest of the time I will be on the road traveling to customers. Company vehicle provided so I am not afraid of the distance between. We’re relocating from the Washington DC area. Plan to have kids within the next 2-3 years. Looking for recommendations on where to live. Plan to rent for the 6-12 months. Rent price is not a major deal breaker. Prefer somewhere that has restaurants/stores/breweries and some sort of sporting event(s) within 15-20 minutes.
I’ve been looking at the York/Rock Hill/Lancaster/Fort Mill area and Lexington/chapin/Irmo. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Is there anything i should know or be aware of or try or stay away from. First time in america too, can’t wait:)
I am being given/buying a car in GA that is older than 1986, from a family member. The car doesn’t have a title because GA doesn’t issue titles for cars that old. It’s a legally registered and driven car in GA, not stolen, nothing shady. Can I get a title in SC and register it with a GA bill of sale, or am I SOL? Thanks in advance.
Me and my husband we might moving to Columbia Sc, we are looking for a nice area family oriented defently a safer area, i make some research and apparently Carolina lake it's a good place, it's this a good neighborhood ? we will considerate Blyhtewood it's this is a good area too?
The more detail, the better. I’m interested in anything: jokes, furniture, houses, folklore, architecture, holidays, crazy stories, outfits, cars, slang, music. I live kinda far out, so I can’t find out by myself.
I wrote a post a while back asking why sheriffs are so corrupt. I thought I would ask which sheriff is the most corrupt. so who's the most corrupt sheriff?
Looking to go to the beach for the first time in my life. Going solo on this trip and was looking for ideas and places that are good for the solo traveler. I've noticed most houses on/near the beach aren't for the solo travelers through Airbnb/vrbo/booking. And most of the houses are expensive and big! Trying to stay away from Myrtle if all possible. Thanks!
My husband fell in the shower this morning and broke our fiberglass shower/tub. He's okay, the tub has a knee sized hole in it.
Anyway we are going to need to find someone to do a bathroom remodel I guess. If they have to tear it out we may ask well do the whole thing.
I have no idea how to go about any of this. Any advise or suggestions would be appreciated.
Also who would you recommend or tell us to avoid?
Thanks.
Hi friends!!!
My husband and I are looking to relocate to South Carolina- Columbia / surrounding area.
He has done some great research and we really think this will be the best place to raise our family but I know Reddit will be real honest with me lol.
Do you love it? Do you see yourself staying there long term? Is the lower-ish cost of living actually what it seems to be? Are there new build homes not on top of each other? Good homeschool options? I want all the tea.
Back story for us. He’s from Cali, I’m from Kansas. We met in college, lived in Arizona for 8 years LOVED it but cost of living and a growing family with no ties there was a lot. Sold our home, moved back to the Midwest and now we hate living here and wish we never left AZ. Now we’re making serious plans to plant roots in the south and I just want someone to tell me it’s a great decision and all my problems will be solved lol jk but kind of!!! We have 3 kids, we’re super active, love the heat and sunshine, love mountains and the beach, love camping, biking. We’re big believers and plan to homeschool our kids so co-op knowledge is a bonus! We love to be out with friends and want to meet new like minded people our age!
We’re willing to start over and just take the risk at this point. I know no place is perfect but SC seems to be with the more research I do, so I’m hoping to get some HONESTY lol.
If you read this far, thank you!! ❤️❤️
Hello everyone, my name is Nathan and I am a student at UofSC. I am doing a paper on the Hispanic & Latino communities in Columbia, South Carolina, and need a handful of respondents to answer a couple of very quick questions.
If you're not from Columbia, don't worry! We appreciate any and all regions of the state - simply mark "never" when the question for Columbia shows up. If you live within 10-15 miles of Columbia, I ask that you consider that the "Columbia-area" for the sake of the question.
The survey should take less than 5 minutes, and we have both a survey in English and a survey in Spanish for anyone who prefers one language over the other.
We are looking for a diverse group of respondents, so if any of you all have friends or family that would be willing to respond to our survey, it would be more than appreciated!
We have an English survey and a Spanish survey, so if your family members do not speak English, we can accommodate with our survey.
I also appreciate any and all critiques and criticisms! I am not a native Spanish speaker, so critiques and corrections if needed would also be appreciated.

Edit: Hey everyone. I am not trying to be a bother, but please don't bother making a post if it's sole intent is to send troll answers. It takes five seconds for me to delete, and it's a waste of your time and mine. Thank you!
Hey everyone
This might be a weird or inappropriate question but
I would like to know what it's like to be homeless in south Carolina.
Currently i live in North Carolina and will be homeless within the near future.
I do not plan to stay in one area very long. Ill more thank likely be walking through the state. The long term plan is walk to California.
Are there any homeless camps I should know about already? any shelters or banks to stop along the way.
I am not looking for any housing resources because North Carolina is a dumpster fire and I am not going through that again, plus Ill never be able to afford it.
I want to be prepared for when this does finally happen.
Thank you
I see t-shirts, hats, and all other different types of merch on people so far away from the restaurant. Maybe it is just me but I always notice it. I have been to the restaurant but never felt the need to get the merch.
How many hispanics live there? I'm seeing conflicting results online. I'm trying to learn spanish so I'm thinking about working there.
I recently purchased a car from a seller in Greenville who was here on a temporary work visa from France. The seller purchased the car from a North Carolina dealership in Sept. 2024 but decided not to title or register the car in his name, because he had to move back home. So now I have the car, the reassigned original title to my seller and bill of sale from the NC dealer to my seller. I also have a signed bill of sale from the seller to me. The SCDMV has informed me that the seller should have first titled and registered the car in his name before signing over a new title and selling the car to me. (A side note: the NC dealer has refused to simply rewrite the bill of sale to me, despite repeated attempts and a clear explanation of what happened.) Because the seller is no longer in the US, it will be impossible for him to appear at the DMV in person to do the transaction. However, I would like to know if the seller could print out SCDMV form 400 (title application form) and complete it including me as a co-owner, under the "OR" (not "AND") option. Once I receive that document from the seller, could I sign my portion of the doc and present it to the DMV for a new title with both names listed? At a future date (and, if this works...) I would like to sign that newly issued title over to my wife to obtain a title with only her name listed in order to remove the sellers name from ownership.
So I lived here my whole life, and about 5 years ago me and my husband moved to florida. My question is, what can I do to fix a situation with the dmv. In October of 2020 our car stopped working and we sold it to a junkyard but apparently forgot to return the license plate to the dmv, and we left it with his mother and we have zero information like Vin number or anything on the old car we had. His license is suspended and the SC DMV won't let us pay to have it reinstated or anything. The problem with his mother having it is she won't answer us so I really feel stuck is there anything we can do at all??
Can watch waterfalls all day....
Anyone ever hunt this piece of public land? I’m thinking about going there one morning this week to hunt deer. I know a lot of people hunt doves during that season, but wasn’t sure how popular it is for a year hunting.
I didn't see a Darlington sub so I'm posting this in the SC sub. A female black lab mix was found set on fire in a ditch near Darlington SC on 11/09. Anyone with information should report to the Darlington PD. The dog survived and is being treated for her burns with skin grafts.
Dog with severe burns found in Darington Co. ditch; investigators seek answers
I don't know if this is something I'm allowed to say in this subreddit, but I am because there is no subreddit for lexington, which is a suprise. But what is your go-to barbers/favorite barbers in Lexington county/Gilbert?
