On Monday I got an informed delivery email that I was going to be getting sent a jury duty notice. It’s now Thursday morning and I never got it. Wednesday I sent an email to the court with no reply and this morning I called to see what I needed to do. Guy answered and I explain the issue and all he gives me is to talk to the mail people. ? Yall can’t send me a new notice or look up the shit? I’m fuming bc the postal office can take up to a week to find something and the paper I needed to fill out was supposed to be filled by today. What the fuck am I supposed to do now?? They just gonna have to fine me bc I’m not gonna show up. I’ve done everything I’m supposed to.
I am fairly new here. I am looking for a personal trainer in Columbia. I work out at Planet Fitness. I was 310LBS, I am not 242 and need help pushing me to my potential.
Tired of inconsiderate bad drivers fucking up 77. Always some ratchet bitch in a Nissan speeding, not using their signals, causing a wreck and fucking everybody up. Use the speed limit and turn signals. Like goddamn.
Hey all, 28M, recently moved for Columbia for a job and looking to get set up socially here. Are there any groups/events/hang outs for the younger professionals in the area that are pretty popular?
On my way home today I had to stop and help a disabled woman in a wheelchair on Forest drive. Because the powerline pole is dead center in the middle of the sidewalk, she tried to go around and her left wheels fell off the curb- she was stuck halfway on the sidewalk and halfway in the road. I'm very disappointed to say that sooo many people drove right on by in that lane as if she didn't even exist. By the time I could turn around, another good samaritan also stopped and blocked the lane so that we could assist her.
This is not the only location with sidewalks either completely or partially blocked by obstacles. The road is already very narrow, but the powerlines being in the way is ridiculous when every other city has underground powerlines that wouldn't be an issue. Along with other sidewalks along forest drive being completely covered with junk or impassable for various reasons. A blind person would never be able to get by in several different spots.
Does City of Columbia just not care about disabled folks? I would think finding solutions would be cheaper than being sued by the ADA or a private citizen. I would personally prefer the taxes we pay go to something productive rather than a settlement check.
Edited to add: tomorrow evening I'll be adding a list I'm currently compiling of persons contacted, whether they responded or not, and their response as available. So far, everyone just wants to pass me along to someone else without acknowledging the issue. Get out and vote!
Edited to add this link with contact info for our elected officials in case anyone wants to also contact them and help demand change!
Hello, coming to you all in a pretty vulnerable moment lol.
I am a current student who is unable to work per our school rules, and due to circumstances regarding my mother's help, I am unable to meet my full December rent balance. I have already exhausted my school resources (FAFSA).
I have spoken with my leasing office, who informed me that while they are willing to waive any late fees, they are still required to initiate an eviction filing if the payment is delayed. This has placed me in a difficult situation, as I will be able to meet my financial obligations in January but currently lack the resources to cover the December payment.
Are there any assistance programs that are currently taking applicants? A lot of the places I have reached out to are no longer and/or ran out of funds.
I am trying to get a head start on securing funding so it will be out of the way. I am even willing to pay back the assistance given to me in January, since this is only temporary.
I moved here a little over 8 months ago for work and have been introducing myself and being introduced to so many people due to work and community, but it's like some don't care—that's the best way of describing it. I am not sure if it's because I just started my career and it's the growing pains or the struggle of finding adult (I am a 25M) friends or other things. But it's hella demoralizing.
For reference I live near Harbison/Irmo area(close to Lexington/Red Bank) so I'm trying to search for car dealerships near there so I won't have to drive far to check out a car.
My list thus far is: Golden Motors, JT Autoland, Iocal automotive and carmax...
Any recommendations would do just fine thank you
Hey all. So, I've kinda procrastinated in my search for good Mexican sweets for my birthday. Does anyone have any specific suggestions for that type of bakery? I just really am craving pan dulces.
For reference, I've tried Tres Leches & Dulce(They replaced Cupcake downsouth on Lincoln.)
I live in Brook pines apartments and my car just got out a few hours ago. He's a white cat with pink nose, he has gray "hair" on his head that fades to black and then a black dot behind his neck.
😭😭 Devastated rn
Just starting the research, now. Figured I would ask for any referrals.
Looking for a well to connect to existing irrigation. Any companies out in the WeCo area I should be looking in to?
With winter closing in and the days getting shorter, I’m struggling to find places to walk my dog, especially after dark. We usually go to sesquicentennial but it looks like that’ll start closing super early. Does anyone have suggestions for dog walking spots?
Need to remodel our bathroom to better handle someone with disabilities. Anyone have a recommendation?
Also, and less urgent, anyone have a recommendation for closet designer.
Thanks
Anyone else tracking a Columbia/West Columbia water outage and hearing anything about when it might be resolved?
Anyone else find it ridiculous that they will close major roads down to one lane during rush hour traffic so that they can build even more shitty "luxury" apartments. I'm speaking specifically of the new apartments being built on the corner of Blossom and Huger where Brickhouse used to be. They have traffic on blossom backing up into Cayce and traffic on Huger backing up to Gervais. Also are these apartments going to block the view of downtown from Home Plate at the ballpark?
Hi Columbia - I'm 40 years old and I have a great barber I've been going to for a while, but I'm getting Married Nov. 23rd and I figured I should get something really nice. When and where should I go? Are there any really great places for a nice haircut? I figured this time around I should really get something nice!
I’m just trying to get like $100 out of it. It’s probably worth more than that but I don’t know for sure. Money has been tight and I’m trying to get rid of the valuable stuff I’m not using.
These are the specs: CPU: 17-3770K Mobo: Gigabyte Z-77 RAM: 16GB DDR3 SSD: 256GB Samsung 840 SSD GPU: MSI 7850 PSU: Corsair AX1200 Fully Modular Case: Rosewill THOR V2 full size tower Cooler: Corsair H90 AlO water cooler
Has anyone applied to the 2025 Entry Level Training Program and heard back about an interview or anything yet? I applied about a month ago and haven't heard anything, kinda anxious
Me and my roommate are about to graduate and because both of us work in the Columbia area, we were wondering what apartments would be great to live in. We are sort of hoping for apartments that aren’t catered as student housing. We both can drive so distance isn’t an issue. Thank you if you do reply
Of Montreal is weird.
I’m looking for catering ideas for a family party I’m hosting at the end of the year, probably 50-70ish people. It’s not going to be a sit-down meal, and I don’t want to do BBQ or tacos. Thinking more along the lines of small sandwiches, fruit tray, a dip or two, etc. basically, something that’s easy for people to graze on when they walk by. I think DiPratos is the kind of thing I’m looking for, but was wondering if there’s anything else out there that fits the bill. Not trying to break the bank, but have more to spend than a Jimmy John’s tray.
Thanks in advance!
I’d like to think I have a pretty cool costume put together, was wondering if there’s any contests going on tonight?
