Nostalgia is often triggered by something reminding you of a happier time. Whether it's an old commercial or a book from your past, it belongs in /r/nostalgia. Here we can take pleasure in reminiscing about the good ol' days... times we shared with loved ones, both humorous and sad. Trax socks what do you guys think??
I learned touch point math in elementary in the early 90’s. I seem to remember being an experimental thing they were trying with poor rural kids like me. My husband thinks it’s the weirdest thing he’s ever seen. I cannot reprogram my fundamental skill and still use it to this day to do basic addition/subtraction/multiplication. I have an advanced scientific degree, therefore I’m assuming it didn’t hinder my overall skills mathematically, but maybe? no, I did not memorize addition or subtraction fact families, I used touch points for all of it. I did multiplication tables and use the touch points out of habit? Like 5x3, I will touch the three points in my head and go 5,10,15. Anyone else!?!
If any of you fans of 4Kids Entertainment have your favorite voice actor from the company, who would it be? Mine is Liza Jacqueline! She did an amazing talent as Bloom from Winx Club (my favorite 4Kids show).
Back in elementary school (referring to the mid-to-late 2000s) sometimes the teacher would put on a tape featuring some science series where each episode always started out in a white room with the emphasis on the animal in that room for that episode then it would transition into the introduction looping you through a white hallway with a bunch of animals and I remember there even a dinosaur (a T-rex) if a recall correctly. Anyone have any idea what this series is called? I would like to rewatch this.
Lately, I’ve been feeling super nostalgic about the "simpler times." Remember the era when Friday nights meant renting movies from Blockbuster (or your local video store), or when we spent hours customizing our MySpace profiles with cheesy GIFs and emo music? 🥲
What about the thrill of hearing the Nokia message tone and racing to see who texted you? Or maybe it's the joy of opening up an actual letter from a friend instead of endless emails and notifications?
For me, it’s the vibe of old-school cartoons and sitcoms. Shows like The Powerpuff Girls, Friends, or Dragon Ball Z were staples of my evenings. Oh, and those LAN gaming nights with friends playing Counter-Strike—that was a whole different level of fun!
What’s one nostalgic thing you’d love to see make a comeback in 2024? Could be anything—a trend, a gadget, or even a feeling. Let’s reminisce together! ðŸ’✨
