You may have heard of CIB Complete in box, but have you heard of complete unboxed?

I used to swap and trade so many games when I was a kid, I’ve somehow got this instruction booklet of Desert Fighter. So also picked up the loose cart. It’s really quite a difficult game, like Desert Strike but you’re constantly moving forward.

To my luck I managed to pick up 2 of the final holy grails on my list in the same week, not only had I been looking for them sealed for over 4 years but I found them both in the space of 6 days so that is awesome

Best place to get acrylic cases?

I'm trying to get some acrylic cases for more of my most prized games in my collection since standard plastic cases wasn't going to cut it.

Is there any stores that sells a variety of acrylic case for a bunch of different consoles games for relatively cheap?

Current Xbox Collection

I've been collecting for awhile and I've always been in love with the Xbox (especially 360). I've got a good amount and recently added Silent Hill 2 to my collection, any recommendations for future additions?

I was thinking!

It would be a lot to imagine a possible Assassin's Creed Black Flag film, with Norman Reedus as Edward Kenway.

More pondering, rediscoveries, & reflections with the end-of-the-year culling [update]

So a few days ago, I wrote about how I desire to create a finely-tuned, curated collection here. I was ready to reduce my close to 200 game collection down to around 150 titles when the darnedest thing happened: I began playing some of those discarded games that I stowed away inside a box by my door.

I first started with Catherine (Xbox 360), and I quickly remembered why I loved this game to begin with. I'm still playing it, but, man. It hits me differently now that I'm married and with children of my own than it did when I was 22 years old. I also put on NHL 95 (SNES), and, much to my surprise, there was one of my high school friends' names on the roster of the Vancouver Canucks. He must of played it when we lived in the college dorms together. Seeing it brought back a stream of memories. After that, I plugged up the Wii and let my daughter try out Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing because she's a fan of the blue hedgehog. It wasn't as good or engaging as I'd remembered, but then we transitioned over to Mario Kart Wii; let me tell you, that game has aged well. It's still the fun-time-party-game that it ever was. Seeing the Mii of my wife (girlfriend at the time) and myself and other people we knew at the time marching around the plaza was something else.

I say all this not to necessarily proclaim that I plan on abandoning the idea of "cleaning up." At my core, I am a minimalist, and I do desire the idea of things that really reflect me and where I'm at. I know for a fact that some of those forty to fifty games won't be with me, and it won't take another play through to reexamine it. However, I think it may be prudent, if you're like me and considering downsizing, to at least give one or two of those games a shot before you ship them away. You'll never know what you'll find if you do.

General Downsizing Reflections:

  • Some games are more important than others, but that doesn't necessarily translate to monetary value
  • For me, re-playing the important games has given me insight into what I really want to keep & what I am willing to part with
  • Typically I have found newer games (within the current or previous generation) are less meaningful; I believe this has a lot to do with nostalgia & sentimentality, especially if you've grown up with multiple consoles across multiple eras. We tend to yearn not only for the game but the experience we had as well.
  • Lastly, lists are important to keep it all straight. I tend to go overboard with Sheets, but it does give me an idea of what I have and what I could reasonably part with.

Thanks for reading this anecdote. If you do what I do now or in the future, give yourself time and grace and it typically works itself out.

…and More!

Added these two (or rather, 3) to my collection this evening, plus a few for my gf’s switch not pictured.

A bit disappointed however because I thought I was scoring a copy of Transformers Devastation PS4 as well, but they could not find the disc… :/

I'm surprised how cheap PSP games are today and in Mexico (I bought these two discs for 8 dollars)

Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition shipping early?

Hi all. I received an email from Iam8bit on the 27th saying my corrected PS5 copy was shipping now. Anyone else get this? I wasn't expecting this until next year.

Anybody else having a blast collecting for PS5, specially when you’ve moved on from another console? (Switch in my case)

Pretty much over and done with the Switch with the exception of a few games like Princess Peach, Xenoblade X, Brothership. At 225 total games, it’s been fun, but now just crave good performance and graphics. Having an absolute blast with the PS5. Focusing only on quality titles (ignore Kong and Forspoken 💀) that I’m actually planning to play. It also feels to me that the PS5 will be the last console with physical media.

So I traded with my nephews...

3D All-stars and mario wonder for monkeyball and 2 dollars (cash 💰). Tbf I bought them 3 other games as an early Christmas gift. They were so adamant about wanting to trade with me.

Picked up a few games for my collection today.

Got everything for $50 which I thought was reasonable. Been looking for a copy of leisure suit Larry for awhile now. The others were all just bonuses.
