Me and some friends found this illustration at a online shop, we found out from a tumblr post that it was from the series, does anyone here know from which chapter it is? tnkss
I've finished the manga recently, one thing I did notice from the begining was the titles were referencing to movies. And not just blockbuster/commercial movies, also less known or cult movies.
Just some that got my atention (but there are lot more):

15. Brokeback Prison | Brokeback Mountain |
21. The Sacrifice | The Sacrifice (an Andrei Tarkovski movie, I'm like daaaamn xD) |
30. The Verdict | The Verdict |
60. Fullmetal The Evil Hair | Full Metal Jacket |
85. TAXI DRIVER | Taxi Driver |
91. I Can Hear The Song of The Student Council President | I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One (this one is not a movie, it's the title from 'Yo La Tengo' music album, haven't noticed if there's more music based) |
97. Life Is Beautiful | Life Is Beautiful |
109. The Return of Kiyoshi | Return of the Jedi |
116. Hand-Drunk Love | Punch-Drunk Love |
120. Kiss-Ass | Kick-Ass |
135. All About My Sister | All About My Mother |
137. The Prestige | The Prestige |
158. When Mari Was There | When Marnie Was There |
221. The Imitation Game | The Imitation Game |
223. Gone Girl | Gone Girl |
229. The Revenant | The Revenant |
239. Silence of the Lambs | The Silence of the Lambs |
243. Only Yesterday | Only Yesterday |
255. Louder Than Bombs | Louder Than Bombs |
261. The Bicycle Thief | Bicycle Thieves |
262. 3 Idiots | The Idiots (Lars Von Tier movie, might be wrong though) |
264. Rec. | [•REC] (Spanish horror movie) |
269. Run Meiko Run | Forrest Gump quote |
271. The Theory of Everything | The Theory of Everything |
Here's all the titles if someone wanna check more:

Sorry if thread is repeated, I didn't find any discussing titles specifically.
PD: ending wasn't that bad btw :D It actually felt kinda like some of those movies where's there's a lot of talking, some quick action and ends (somelike Tarantino maybe)
Per the title, I just finished the series and wanted to provide some brief thoughts on my experience.
I was introduced to the series in February, watching the 12 episode anime at the behest of a friend. I was compiling a list of short shows (20 episodes or less) to watch and was trying to explore other genres that I normally don’t watch. My friend suggested the series, telling me it was the funniest series they had watched in years.
I was apprehensive heading into the first episode as I had NEVER watched a comedic anime (I mostly watch action oriented shows), but my doubts were quelled after the first episode. I watched one episode after another until I had binged the entire series in one night (I definitely felt it the next day at work). The series made me laugh harder than I had laughed in a long time, but I wasn’t satisfied just yet.
12 episodes wasn’t enough, I needed more! I scoured for season 2 but didn’t see anything, much to my disappointment. I did some research and learned that the series is based on a manga, with the anime only covering the first third. This was surprising to me given the positive reception of the series. Why not cover the other two-thirds? I decided to find out, downloading all 28 volumes and reading through them all month long.
Although I would like to see the rest of the series animated at some point, I can understand why they opted to only animate the first third. If you have only watched the anime and are interested in reading the manga, be advised that you have already experienced peak Prison School. The series doesn’t get any better than that, with everything after that feeling second-rate. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of moments that will make you laugh (i.e., Joe and Gackt yaoi exploration, snake pit, ouroboros, PBR-sama, 2nd prison escape, wood stick uggo, etc.). However, there are a number of things that drag down the experience such as its bloated length (could easily trim off 25 chapters by reducing the length of the shoulder war arc and removing the Chairman Amnesia arc), Meiko’s personality regression, and the ending (I didn’t hate it, but I could see how others might).
All in all, I am glad that I listened to my friend and gave the series a chance. Although it could be a frustrating read at times, I found myself chuckling a lot more than I grimaced. I would appreciate any recommendations you guys have for comedic shows I should check out (preference for shorter shows). Also, what were your thoughts on the manga? How did it stack up to the anime for you? What are your feelings towards the ending? Thanks for reading my post and have an awesome day!
I have watched S1 years back and kinda just forgot about it . re watched it recently and I enjoyed the anime . I want to read further but the thing is if I already have read the manga the anime scenes just don't feel as good to me .
So I wanted to know is there any chance for s2 ?
Want to know what chapter is this from. Currently in a mind battle whether I should get this wrapped on my car but was wondering if I should do the Japanese text one instead cause…😅. Thanks in advance.
After the sudden and tragic loss of Akira Toriyama, I want to remember a couple of nods Hiramoto gave to the master of masters:
Hey, I've gotten to the series only recently and I am obsessed with the ending. I found it on youtube, but perhaps someone has a link to it on spotify?
Was to lazy to make my own so I just stole someone's
I'm talking two black eyes, multiple broken ribs, a lacerated kidney
I finished the manga. I know it's kind of typical for someone to post about the completion of their reading, but I figured I have some thoughts that I share with the rest of the readers.
Firstly, Prison School was and is one of the best pieces of media within the last ten years that I have intook. Never have I watched or read a story with so much plot-based hilarity. I mean, Hiramoto managed to make pissing on others, public nudity/boners, and what have you, crucial parts of his story. With that being said, those fucked-up unexpected moments the reader experiences at least early on in the story are amplified with Hiramoto's art style, facial expressions and general beauty in all.
The ending, of course, was somewhat dissatisfying, but I still find it kind of funny. Just like Mari, Chiyo has an experience with a man that would make any woman, even sweet angel Chiyo-chan, hate them as a collective species. But just like Mari, she may have herself an experience with a man or a group of men that will change her opinion of them, and she'll too, mature.
But, why was the ending so abrupt and... dry? I read somewhere that Hiramoto was just fed up with the series, or that the manga was already on its way to being cancelled? With that being said, what are the chances of sequel? Does anyone even want a sequel? Considering the boys are just Freshmen in the story, and have a few years to go before their high school life ends. Maybe Kiyoshi could rekindle his relationship with Chiyo after some strenuous effort to prove that he may be a better man than she thought, or something completely different... something Hana related. Just spitballing. I know that the chances of a sequel are likely small, as they typically are with this kind of thing.
I also don't know if I am to like Kiyoshi or not. He is a liar when he need not necessarily be, but he shows resolve and vigor in his efforts in regards to Chiyo and others. Is he a scumbag sociopath, or is he just a kind of blockhead?
Hana's Birthday is soon aswell 👀
Firstly sorry for my english i wrote this text on google translate. I'm writing this text mainly for myself, I want to purge of this frustration. I started prison school on Monday at 8 p.m. and I finished on Thursday at 2 a.m., I have never in my life spent my day reading a manga. but I wanted to know the ending so much. and if I had known I would have stopped at the anime. I see that a lot of people wanted to see Kiyoshi end up with Hanna, but for me the only thing I wanted was a happy and silly ending where Chiyo and Kiyoshi form a beautiful couple because that's what I expected from the manga. It may seem immature said like that, but the manga never prepared us for such a dry and brutal ending. the manga tries to present us with a logical ending to a manga which is based on illogic. I feel as if Kiyoshi had been the victim of a manga which had its premature adolescent crisis, kiyoshi who had suffered so much throughout the manga, to the point of having suicidal desires finds himself losing what he held most dear, it's just horrible, the manga just didn't have to have this ending under false moralizing air it's criminal. I think of the fact that if this crow had afraid Kiyoshi a few seconds later we would have had a completely different ending…
Aside from the volume 19 cover?
sits down why, why is all i wanna know ;-;
Didn't read the manga except last chapter and special where they go to wet tshirt contest.
Also searched up other characters' ending.
I didn't hated the ending. That's it.
I'm someone that read and watch so little manga and anime, I mean If you were to count every single one I've seen, it wouldn't add up to 20...
don't get me wrong, I enjoy them when I read/watch them, it's usually an enjoyable experience. But there are times when I get tired of it all because of the feeling of not being able to do anything...
We put our time and soul into something to get some kind of enjoyment out of it (at least I do) so it's sad when all of that can go to waste...
It's because We have no right in the way a story goes... we can be obsessed with the direction of a story but suddenly the author can ruin everything for us...
You know what's funny about it? We can't do anything... if an author wants to throw their work into the fire, fully destroy it in the last seconds, or sum it up as fast as possible in any strange way or etc. we can't do anything about it. We just have to sit and watch the downfall...
At times like that, I think to myself, "Maybe I should just quit?" I'm tired of finishing something only to have a bad taste in my mouth at the end.
We can fool ourselves and create fan stories and tell what happened after the end, but there is one thing that no one can deny: none of it ever happened because we are not the author who can change everything at the last minute. They can even kill off every character in one panel, and there is nothing we can do about it... in better word we don't own anything of the story and how it goes.
we can say "but this and that make sense" but author can do something that don't make sense at all...
Man, I'm just tired of having to face this over and over again. How do you guys tolerate this? Maybe I'm just weak...
