You’re all gonna hate the new few ones.
In the show we see whats a episode based on the ideas of Ideal beauty
And How it markets on youths
I mean , quinn's willing to go the extra mile just to get plastic surgery all because she found someone else has acute nose
And that's mentioned that social experiment.Kevin had to go through about handsome and ugly people
Beauty should never be standardized or idealized though or put on a pedestal
Baby comes in all shapes and sizes. And it's who we are that makes us stand out
Our true selves
The most current episode I have seen during my rewatch of the show. It is a pretty good one.
Jane volunteering to show off her art skills was very delightful, and I liked some of the characters unique outfits for this episode, especially Mack's and Jodie's! Those outfits looked gorgeous. I also liked the two Upchuck cousins they were cool, although I understand why Daria and Jane just said "nope cant do that." I wouldn't want to be 6 feet near Upchuck.
Sandi was ESPICALLY bitchy this episode oh my god. The passive aggressiveness levels were at a all time high this episode lol. I found that one scene where Quinn and Sandi try to one up each other and it ends up with the guys getting a massive headache very funny, and describes Quinn and Sandi's "friendship." The ending where the Fashion Club (except Quinn) were trapped outside in the freezing cold made me feel a little bad for them, especially Stacy. I felt bad for Stacy this entire episode because of the fact she couldn't stand up to Sandi, and it ended up with her in the freezing cold. Good thing Stacy gets her justice way later in the series.
Overall, another quality episode in the Daria canon, every high school series got to do a dance episode, and I think it came out pretty good.
So instead of the creators making her character the, "smart Asian" stereotype, they went the other extreme. But what if she was so smart she studied how to be vapid and shallow too well, just to fit in. Like she does it so well, she's too committed to the role and no one will ever out her as a "brain". Kind of like Urkel's alter ego Stefan Urquelle.
This is a concept I literally edited but I want this so bad to add to my bracelet I wish I could make it 😭🙏
I love this show. But only the first few seasons (1-2/3). I honestly think that once Tom (he ruined the show! Shocker!) showed up, the show became a completely different show. I feel like Tom was added for another demographic that Daria wasn’t intended for and it just kinda ruined the show. It was just another teen show and it had lost all of what made those first few seasons so special. Who’s with me?
Nobody asked for this but I can’t sleep so thought I’d post one of each for the 5 seasons of Daria.
Season 1- 👍🏾: Road Worrier 👎🏾: The Misery Chick
Season 2- 👍🏾: The New Kid 👎🏾: Fair Enough
Season 3-👍🏾: Through a Lens Darkly 👎🏾:Jane’s Addition
Season 4-👍🏾: I Loathe a Parade 👎🏾: Dye! Dye! my Darling
Season 5-👍🏾:Boxing Daria 👎🏾: Life in the Past Lane
My most watched season is definitely season 3 and least watched is 4 bc I hate watching the friendship get rocky. Not a big fan of Tom either. He can choke lol
Also! Love both of the movies but out of the two I’d have to say the one I favor would be Is it College Yet? :)
Why was everyone so mean to Stacy she was the sweetest person In the fashion club?
We all know that Quinn was not a character that stood out in terms of intelligence. She wasn't someone who cared about books and quality information like her older sister. What mattered to her was how full her make-up bag was and the number of boys she dated. But this is not a sufficient reason to say that she lacks intelligence. She was a character who always knew how to use boys and could change everything to her own advantage. She was aware that she was beautiful and knew how to use it well. She became the vice president of the fashion club in her first week at school and gave advice to the them whenever they were stuck. She certainly wasn't unintelligent, she just didn't want to be called that way where the smart ones are called losers or nerds. What do you think, or was Quinn a "silly girl" character that shouldn't be thought about too deeply?
Yeah I am sorry for the late post but sadly life happened
I think most parents have one!
Which is your least favorite Daria episode?
I know Depth Takes a Holiday was quite hated back then, but my personal least favorite episode from the series is "Fair Enough" (Because Sandi and her mom get away with everything at the end)
The first song in the episode "Daria!: The Musical" sung by the main cast of Daria.
I’m rewatching the show from the beginning for the first time in many years, and I’d forgotten that I had quite a big crush on Jane. Am I alone? Did anyone else have a crush on one of the characters?
An alien busted into my house at 3 AM and told me to review this episode or he would destroy the world. Well I gotta save the world I guess so LETS F%~!|£N DO THIIIIIS
Depth takes a holiday is known for being the lowest rated episode according to IMDB. Very divisive episode filled with holiday cheer and no depth whatsoever. It’s a experimental episode and it’s uhhhhhh somethin I guess.
One thing I do like about this episode is that it takes some risks. I like the whole holiday island and holidays going to a high school type deal. Reminds me a lot of clone high, which means clone high stole from Daria!
However because this episode is so different, the writing is very off. The usual Daria structure is shaken up but I feel like it’s way too different. The holidays are fine but there a bit one dimensional I think, which is weird because usually even one off characters like Ted had some depth. This has none of the usual depth or whatever the show usually has.
While I might not enjoy this episode and think it’s one of the worst of the series, it takes some guts to write a episode like this. You can tell the writers had fun and came up with batshit ideas like it was nothing. Problem being, maybe it’s a bit too much for me.
Also it was very out of character for Daria to support big corporations and shouting out McDonalds. It was also weird when there was a two minute scene of Trent staring at a wall intensely.
Also what was the deal with Quinn this episode? I can’t believe she thought it was a good idea to burn down a entire orphanage because the orphans clothes were ugly, like what???
Anyway I saved the world you’re welcome what you expected depth here you expected me to talk about depth is a holiday too bad I kinda did though but also I like Mario and wario with the lucarios.
ここには深みがない
I’m aware the list will be a little smaller and I’ve got to visit a grieving friend so I might post this earlier to make up for me posting these later hahah
In other news I’m starting a rule of one moment per comment. If you have multiple moments you can think of, please put them in separate comments. This is because it’s an absolute pain in the arse as to what to do with the most upvoted comment. I chose the box because I felt that the ‘daria is my sister’ moment is a little more bittersweet than sweet, ya know? Anyway I’m rambling, what’s Helen’s best moments? One per comment!
Hello, I was wondering - is there any other available dubbing of Daria besides English? I know that Polish, German or French version of Daria existed, but many of them are lost media and It's hard to find any other version of Daria than English one. Do you know where I can find Daria with other dubbing than English?
