People think California is nothing but a golden land of sunshine and beaches, but they're wrong. We have problems, too.
This group is for discussing those problems.
Everyone thinks California is full of sunshine and beaches and awesome Mexican food, and we're a golden land of no problems.
But they're wrong. They're really wrong.
It rained today. I forgot to order my In N Out Fries Animal Style. I went to Universal Studios on a Tuesday to avoid the crowds and there's a tour bus from Arizona pulling into the parking lot.
Life is tough.
The only rule is it should be a California specific problem. I don't care that the drive thru line at McDonald's was long - even if we had the first Mickey D's, that's a First World Problem, not a Californian Problem.
This isn't a rule as much as it is a recommendation - no "I'm more Californian than you" pissing contests. It annoys the shit out of the mod. I don't care where in California you live or why that makes you an expert - we all live in California, and our problems are still problems.

Californian home owners with garbage homes and no other assets are behind the states housing crisis.
Here's how it works: NIMBYs, boomers, and alleged progressives own dilapidated WW2 era bungalow homes worth around $275000 to $350000. These same people front well but don't have much else in terms of real assets and feel way too entitled to work to get more assets.
At some point in the 80's these stewards of the Earth figure out basic economics and determine that by choking supply they can increase the value of their otherwise modest properties.
These individuals claim wokeness to the environment as a justification for weaponizing their town/city councils.
The process of building a home.. ANY HOME..NOT JUST LOW INCOME.. is made so arduous only the wealthy, whom these Cali folk claim to hate, can build anything.
Otherwise noble regulations like CEQA, are used by these Californians to make the building process hell.
Decades go by and immigrants to California (ironic) find the barriers to home ownership are insane
Selfish Californians throw up straw men to misdirect the unwashed hoard. Examples include but are not limited to: The nameless faceless evil developer The shameless politician Those darn tech employers..grrr
For good measure, climate change is thrown out there
This makes those wanting to have a home and start a family feel guilty for having caused any trouble.
The home owning Cali folk say it's all good and that these uppity strivers can still rent their properties... which.. due to lack of supply...leads to 50-60% percent of income going to rent.
But hey... the weather is nice.
Discuss...and to hell with any PC SJWs
I blame global warming, especially since it hailed here in August. Our seasons clearly don't know what seasons are anymore.
Among most states, I hate texas the most. And it's causing me angst to continue watching this show.
I go off to the military for 4 years, and when I get back to my hometown of Irvine, I hear about how coyotes are snatching dogs right off the sidewalks near sundown.... What the fuck is this shit?
I mean, not like nice sea breeze. Like, I must have missed a report on the Santa Anas.
Since when do we ever get hail? Fun bonus: I was outside right now so I can't feel my fingers. I can't even move one of them.
I want snow.
The Ravens should have been charged with at least that one holding penalty, and there were a few other plays that should have been called but they were less detrimental to the over all game.
California winters can be tough, too. I want to enjoy the beauty, but I'd like to be back before it gets dark.
It still takes 6 hours to get to Honolulu from California. I feel we are not getting enough of a shortcut.
too many pro teams to have one favorite and if you do you will offend half the people you know.
Do we tell other states the appropriate way to layer for their weather? Which is probably a good thing because they would all freeze to death. But either way, bipolar weather is a real thing.
Everyone here (especially in Turlock) is talking about the 49ers and Colin Kapernick. We get it, he went to Pitman High. I just want to go to in-n-out without hearing about him.
Seriously, the high today is 82 F. It's too hot to enjoy this apple pie I baked. Then at night it's too cold to enjoy ice cream.
California needs to have more than one good team. But, traditionally, my mom and I bet on opposite teams because it's more fun to trash talk someone during the game. However, because the 49ers made it, one of us has to very publicly root against a Californian team in a sports bar.
I don't envy my mother.
It's really hard to decide just one when it's a good day to do both.
I'm afraid that a sweatshirt and shorts just isn't going to cut it. It's 32 degrees where I am right now, at just after 7 pm!
Let's just see if we survive the Megaquake and then the tsunami that's going to accompany it before we worry about survival on the island of California, okay?
I don't have a problem with transplants - most of California is transplants. But my goodness - who speaks for everyone here even if they're a native? And nobody knows everything. Californians are supposed to be chill, not uptight asses.
I'm so sure that everyone in Times Square decided that they would still hang out in the freezing cold hours after midnight to ring in the New Year on the West Coast. All those people are passed out drunk somewhere warm already.
I can throw a rock and hit Chinese food, Vietnamese food, Thai food, Japanese food, etc... but the closest thing I'm getting to a taco right now is Del Taco and I want something better than that.
