What supermarket item are you convinced has dropped quality in last 1 month ?

I'll give 2 i've noticed

Lidl brownie, seems less chocolaty and more glucoses then before

Waitrose Custard Cream, lingering after taste which is not pleasant

Maybe its a curse but finding it more and more I can't eat cheap things anymore, not being rich means I have to just eat more boring items

What is the logic behind 'new customer only' deals?

My internet package has expired, so it's time to get a new one. That's already annoying enough, but what is the logic behind new customer only deals? If I hadn't been a VM customer for the last period, I could get their cheapest package for £25/mo, but because I've given them money for the last year and a half, they want almost double that for the same product.

Clearly they can make a profit at the 'initial' rate, and I'm invariably going to switch at the end of it (as, I suspect, most do, so the initial rate MUST be profitable); is it not better for a business to have constant customers at rate X than to have a customer for 12/18 months, then for most of them to buggar off to the competition for at least as long; are the ones who stay on their hugely inflated rates really a significant enough proportion that it makes more sense to constantly drop and enrol customers?

I honestly don't understand why there seems to be no 'just a good deal for everyone' option, especially when moving to another provider is pretty trivial and there's very little in the core product that can be used to encourage loyalty.

Where are the poppy stands?

I’ve just noticed some people wearing poppies, I want one for me and my partner. We came here as kids from overseas and reside here now permanently and have nothing but been grateful for this country.

I remember years ago we could buy poppies from old people who have little stands, but now they are nowhere to be found, are they buying online or is it just not a thing anymore?

Should I drop out of college for an apprenticeship?

So I've been at college for around 2 months now and I am studying hairdressing level 2. I'm really enjoying my course. My college has a really good commercial salon which is where actual clients come in and I go in once a week to do actual clients and i love it. My teacher reccomended to get a voulenteering placement in a salon to gain experience so a few weeks ago I got one. I was mainly washing the tint bowls, cleaning and washing hair. The owner took a liking to me and asked if I could do an apprenticeship with her. However, this means I would have to drop out of college altogether to join a training academy. The owner of the salon said she knows the owner of a training academy so getting a place there wouldn't be an issue. I really don't know what to do. She says if i don't want to do the apprenticeship I can stay there to continue voulenteering however it's not paid and I want to start learning to drive next year when I turn 17 in March. I'm really not sure and I'm in 2 minds about this. Could really use some advice.

Do you have regular community/ neighborhood events where you live?

Do you feel connected to your geographic community through events? This could be like a barbecue or festival. Specifically, events with multiple local families involved.

Can I drive after a failed MoT if I’m still under last years MoT?

So I’ve got an MoT tomorrow, but the garage is a drive away from my house. I technically don’t need to re-new the MoT till the end of the month, but I’m just trying to be organised. There’s afew bits I know need fixing after I got it serviced (different garage) but the mechanic said it may pass anyway and to go for the MoT, then look at what needs doing afterwards. If it fails, can I still drive it normally until the original MoT expires (by which time, I’ll hopefully have it repaired and ready to pass)?

Which is the best value online florist delivery?

Need to send some flowers to a friend in London. I don’t live in UK anymore and Interflora seems very expensive? I don’t like the boxes Bloom & Wild uses. Waitrose doesn’t seem to deliver just flowers. Does anyone have any recommendations at all? Thanks!

Have you used/tried SupplyLife, if so what was your experience like?

I've been trying to sort my diet out over the last few months, try to break bad habits & cut my calories down ect. I've recently stumbled across: SupplyLife that's a dietary test, that checks for intolerances and other things, now I've never done anything like this before but I'm curious to see what the results would be. So I wanted to know if anyone here had ever used/tried this before, if so what was your experience like & did it make a difference?

edit: Just to clarify, losing weight is part of the goal, but I have days where I seem to have IBS like symptoms so I thought it would be interesting to do a test like this to see if there are foods I should be avoiding.

What do you do when you sister in law wants to come over but her kids have nits?

Is she for real? I don't want nits in the house!

I don't know what to do! We have a2y8m son and by partner's sister has a 2y and 5m old and 10yo. We saw his sister and her 2 kids last Saturday for fireworks. They were meant to come over on Friday but messaged Thursday to say they have nits and won't come. However, she's now messaged last night to say they are not itchy now and wanted to come over today. I don't want nits!! Am I overreacting? What do I do? Do I just meet her or tell her we can't and find an excuse?

What's the one thing you actively hate about where you live?

For me, it's Northern Rail. I've had to change holiday bookings two years on the trot because of their drivers being on strike, they try their level best not to refund you if your train is delayed/cancelled - and god forbid you should ever try travelling with them on a Sunday.

Recommended Ear Plugs to reduce/cancel noise at unsociable hours to help with sleep when they have a problematic neighbour?

My neighbour upstairs has domestic machines on and makes banging, crunching and stomping noises at unsociable hours and it's impacting my sleep significantly. I'm looking for some ear plugs to help with my sleep and block what's happening upstairs. Any recommendations for ear plugs would be great, especially anyone who has been in similar situations to myself in the past?

Are 3 or 4 bird roasts no longer popular?

Usually for Christmas we tend to have a 3 or 4 bird roast including duck and goose. Every store we have been to doesn’t seem to stock them anymore. Any idea why this is?

Do you remember this from Christmas school dinner Circa 1996?

Rubbery turkey and watery gravy but what I want is the savory bread pudding (corn bread?) the rectangle of soft white, lightly herbed cake like bread that came with it? No idea what it’s called to try and find a recipe and so far can’t seem to find any mention of this delicacy online. Did you enjoy this? do you remember?

Are people nicking random bits from supermarkets?

Got a bit of a question here – is this technically theft? I’ve noticed something a bit odd in some supermarkets here in Manchester, like Aldi and Lidl. Sometimes you pick up a box of eggs, and there’s a couple missing. Or with those big packs of toilet roll, you’ll see the package has been torn open and maybe a roll or two has been nicked. I’ve even spotted that with loose garlic – like, you’ll go to grab some, and a few cloves have mysteriously disappeared.

So I guess I’m wondering… is this actually people pinching things, or is it just random bits going missing for some other reason?

Do family members not knock anymore?

We recently moved house and since then, both my parents and by boyfriends' just let themselves in when they come to visit. We're young, we might be busy! I know you're coming, but knock, not just let yourself in! And when the door is locked, they act all surprised when they have to right the bell for us to open the door. 'Your door was locked!?' Anyone else dealing with this? Rant over

People from the south : what the souths version of Blackpool?

The holiday place that everyone from both the south east and south West have been too which is a shithole full of druggies and homeless people that's dirty in the day but at night it turns into a utopia that looks like Disney land Paris .

Like everyone in the north has been to Blackpool if ur from Ashington, Northumberland you've been , even if ur living in a dodgy council house, if u live in Ponteland and ur a rich snobby twat you've been there , if your a working class person from Carlisle you've definitely been . It looks terrible in the day and like a utopia in the night

What is something you would never throw away but will also probably never use?

I'm working on a sort of logic puzzle and I'm looking for a list of items, maybe household items or something you would keep in your car, or office even, something no one would throw away because it's generally accepted that it is a vital or useful thing, but at the same time, no one ever uses it, or if you do use it, it's very rare. So things like a fire extinguisher. When you need it, you need it, but the rest of the time it just sits collecting dust. Any ideas? TIA!

How to (politely) ask your colleagues not to eat smelly food in the office?

My colleagues constantly have lunches in the office in front of their laptops, and very often it is takeaway food from food market that has a lingering smell. Not mentioning that I don't particularly enjoy listening to other people eating. We have a perfect cafeteria downstairs with dining tables but people still go there, buy take away food and come back to eat it in the office! This is driving me nuts. I tried to talk to a manager but it didn't help. Is this something normal in Britain? And is there a way to change it?

Why is the pub scene in the UK so much better than the US?

Me and my husband plan on traveling to the UK in a couple of months. And many of our friends have told us that the pub scene in the UK is really the best for foodies and those who love to chill and drink?

In the US it’s more the fancy restaurants as our pubs are not the best unless in a big city, but many of our friends who have been to the UK say it’s totally different there.. May I ask why? Is it just cause the culture? What is the environment like?

What do you call a bread roll?

I've lived in south america for a long time and people always ask me about the UK and what is important to British people. When I tell them they fail to understand the importance of what a bread roll is actually called.

(it's called a bap)

How to have a stable life?

I'm gonna go on a bit of rant so I apologise if this all isn't structured right and my title doesn't make sense.

I'm a 20m with autism and adhd and anxiety + depression I have no job never have other then the odd 2 when I was 13 and 16, I'm currently in a relationship and we're both on UC and Pip but I'm worried of my life going downhill and I'll be a failure.

I quit college after a year as it got too stressful for me so I don't think I have any qualifications other then multi skills in construction which is a job I can't see myself doing now.

I would appreciate any advice on what I could do to calm myself and know I've got something to keep myself from spiralling into a bad place

Cat owners, have you used the pets at home groomers?

So my cats do not let us do their nails, and I’m tired of them acting like I’m trying to chop off their feet.

They get scared and sort of shut down around strangers, and the vet got to clip the nails easyer (the bigger one bit her but short nails so success) but a vet trip is expensive so was hoping it was a cheaper service but is it decent or just like get them in, get them out and don’t care?
