I've purchased a 2016 mk9 FK1 civic in the UK which is damaged, and I need to buy:
My question is, for the facelift mk9 compared to the older one (2012-) I know the headlight's different, but are the bonnet and wings the same? Could I buy a pre facelift one of those to replace mine?
Next question is are all the facelift headlights the same? Specifically would the "33100-TV0-E416-M1" headlight fit on all facelift civics?
So I’ve seen and read a thread of messages saying airbags are mandatory in a steering wheel to pass MOT and such however; that law only came to be in 1998. My car was first priduced in 1992 and my exact car was registered in ‘97. Seeing as both years predate the law being passed is my car “exempt”. Thanks in advance 😁
Only had a new battery fitted last week, if that’s any relevance to this.
I'm looking for a 5dr automatic petrol/hybrid under a budget of 6k. I understand maybe the budget isn't great for an automatic. I do around 5k miles per year.
I've been looking across the sub, and I'm genuinely confused what sort of vehicle to look for. for.
I've seen a couple
Ford Focus Powershift Vauxhall Astra SRi Citroën C4 VTI VW Polo 1.4 Match DSG - 114k miles
a lot of subs say the Ford Focus and Vauxhall Astra ones are unreliable in automatic wo I'm tryna stay clear of them.
Do you all recommend any other vehicles that are decent petrols in automatic transmission?
I'm not much of a mechanic, so I'm trying to avoid fixing up too many parts, i understand that looking after an older car will need care and shelling out cash to fix things.
Any recommendations?
Thank you in advance!
Currently stuck in Germany after my works van has come up with this message.. its now in the garage and im awaiting a call back from them.It did have quite alot of adblue in the tank when this message first came up but has also been topped up with a little more. Any idea what it could be?
Hi everyone. Here for some advise. I am new to UK almost been 4 months. Just bought a car and i am getting a crazy amount for my insurance on my non UK/EU internationl license. Now its understandable and after long thought i have decided that i will go through with it. The problem i am facing is that my international license expires in june 2025. Now what should i do?
Can i cancel my insurance at that time without a crazy anount on cancelling?
Can i transfer that insurance to my new (UK)license at that time.( i ll try getting the license in a few months.)
Should i just let the car sit idle and start trying to get the UK license first?
What should be my approach..? Any advises are welcome and thanks in advance..
have an Audi A3 15’ with 140k on the clock. Had the car for 7 years in which I brought it with 70k miles so I’ve done a fair amount of mileage. MOT is at the end of the year so I’m looking to get the car into solid working shape.
Ive been building a separate fund of £1,000 for car emergencies only. I’ve got some serious repairs need doing as follows:
All in All I’m thinking I need another £500 to cover all these above. Would you say it’s advisable to spend £1500 or over or do you think more issues may arise after MOT or with especially 140k miles, I could be expecting more? Or is it time to look for a new car.
I currently own a M235i Manual. Coming from a previous 335i Auto i don't think I'd ever go back to auto. I feel with the manual I can have more fun at lower speeds and feel more engaged with the driving experience.
There are plenty newer manual bmws out there but I'd like to taste something different. The one car that keeps catching my eye on Auto trader is the Mustang GT.
I'd be open to an auto if it was a truly special car.
Hi all,
Looking for some advice.
My Dad has a Toyota Celica GT4 Carlos Sainz which has been off the road for a number of years.
Initially it was thought that it was the engine, so a new engine was ordered and fitted, but the car still isn't running.
Unfortunately, my Dad is very unwell, and has been for quite some time; the car was his pride and joy, and it being out of action is causing greater depression as it is just sitting on a patch of grass next to his local mechanic, and has been for about 18 months.
They don't know what is wrong with it, apparently they don't have the diagnostic tools to find out what is wrong with it. The car isn't driving so he can't pick it up, and hasn't been well enough to organise it being collected.
Such a shame that this classic is being left to rot.
I'd really like to help him and see if I can help organise getting it running again.
The hard part is that he lives in Dumfries, and there are very few facilities around to be able to do the work on such a car... So it seems. I live on the South coast, so can't just pop over and tow it.
It is likely to need to go to a specialist mechanic who is capable of dealing with 30 year old classic cars; but he isn't in a position to research this; and I don't really know what to look for.
I am happy to make the calls and sort arrangements, but not being local and not knowing about classic cars, I don't know where to start.
Does anyone have any advice or recommendations of somewhere (ideally in Scotland, but not limited to) the car can be sent to for someone reputable and sufficiently experienced to do the work that is required.
Within reason, cost isn't an issue (within reason!).
Thank you in advance.
Hello, I am 24 years of age and I have tried my best to book a rental online with many sites and comparison sites sadly to no avail why is this? if the minimum age is around 21-25 and the fact that I have driving experience and have held my licence for 3 years and a few months.
Hi everyone! My Audi A6’s brake pad light has come on. Aduo doctor in Manchester quoted £170 for this. Is that a reasonable figure? Secondly, they mentioned the brand bosch or brembo, are these reasonably okay brands?
And is it advisable to get both discs and pads changed at the same time?
Any help in this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello All,
My 10 plate i20 has packed up and I am in desperate need of some advice. I just want to pick something up for around 1800 quid that is cheap to insure and run. Ideally a 5 door. Petrol. I am based in SE London if that helps.
Just sharing some hilarity (if you don't laugh, you'll cry). Had a tyre pressure alert today (serves me right for trusting the app to monitor them). Took three attempts to find a garage with a working airline. A Tesco forecourt that it turned out was pay by card - minimum £1 for 8 minutes. Was 3 hours from home and keen to get going. A car pulls in to use the airline just as I was getting there. Does 2 tyres then gets back in the car and doesn't move for a few minutes. So I got out and asked if he was done could he move forward if so I could use the airline. He replies "No. You can pay for your own air". Then he waited with his engine running until the timer expired and immediately drove off. I'm assuming straight onto lane 2/3 of the motorway to sit at 65. Incredible.
Would a policy with DOC coverage allow you to drive a car that is comprehensively insured with a learner policy?
The terms of the DOC insurance state the requirements as:
-Must have permission to drive the vehicle
-the vehichle must be insured by the owner
-must be driven in the UK
-cannot be owned by the DOC driver
As far as policy wording goes, everything should check out. Whilst the policy on the car is a learner policy, the DOC insurance doesn't specify a type of policy needed, or even a minimum level of cover.
What do you guys think?
I've been asked to take the car for maintenance by the owner, who is indeed a learner, and the named driver on their learner insurance is unavailable to take it.
As the title suggests. I reared my self into a sharp wall and caused this damage. If it is too expensive I’ll just leave it like this - I assume it is only cosmetics and does not affect the car itself.
I managed to find the chrome trim on eBay for £45
I’ve had my eye on this 63 Plate Leon FR with 70k miles on it and full service history of which the seller has provided photos of. When I first saw it, the car was up for 5,795 and has since been dropped to 4,895 (within the space of two weeks). The only dodginess I can see is with the car having an MOT done whilst not being taxed and has not been taxed since the owner purchased it. Any insight would be appreciated. I've been recently looking to get my first car and my friends have a mx5 and i love them however I don't want to get something so common. I fell in love with the look of the mr2 mk 3 however all the ones I could see had issues with their mot or are falling apart. I was wondering what other alternatives I could get for a similar price.
I’ve recently ordered a black Discovery Sport through my work and the only option is the default silver “Discovery” lettering on the bonnet and rear. Does anyone know anywhere I can get good quality black lettering to stick over the front and back “Discovery”? I’ve looked online but there doesn’t seem to be an obvious/official website to buy them from?
audi a4 or bmw 318d both cars 2014 and around 75k miles
Hi, apologies if this is very basic and been asked a ton, I did a bit of research online but wanted to ask it here anyways so that people can share their experiences.
I’ve never owned a diesel car and know very little about them, but growing up my family was very pro-petrol and anti diesel for some reason.
Now my partner and I are looking for a second car to basically be our school run car.
School is 8.5 miles away each way and in another village, so I’d be basically driving country roads at around 40-50mph and doing around 35 miles per day (3-4 times a week)
Would this scenario suit a diesel car or do diesels require more driving than that?
Really appreciate any insight! Thanks
So hubby purchased a private plate in 2018. Sold his car in 2020 however he still has the private plate. I had passed my driving 3 years ago and was driving a Yaris! He has now bought me a new BMW and I would like to put the private plate on it, however I he has lost the retention certificate!! Not sure how to go about it? Any help would be much appreciated 👍🏻
So today I drove past a camera van on the a1 towards Newcastle on the dual carriageway, I went past I didn't see the van and was doing around just under 80mph in a states 70mph. I was driving a Ford transit custom so speed should have been 60mph. Anyone got a rough idea of what the fine/points will be?
Hey, does anyone have any recommendations of where to sell my car in Manchester please. It’s my first time actually selling my car and I’m a little loss with where to go/ where to get the best price. Thank you
I'm gonna keep it short as no point to tell the whole story. My tar is untaxed for 16 days. If anpr sees it, will they clamp it ? will only tax tommo
I’m 41 and have been working on cars pretty much my entire life after watching my dad restore cars as a kid and was fascinated watching him do it and even making his own parts and tools. I started off breaking cars for a bit of side money and ended up having quite a successful business which unfortunately I had to sell after an illness five years ago. Since then I’ve been running a workshop at a car sales business with three mechanics working under me dealing with between 30-50 cars a week.
I can do pretty much anything on a car but have never been on a course or gained any actual qualification. I wasted my time doing A levels in English and maths and then doing nothing with it. I’d love to be able to say I’m an actual mechanic plus not having the actual qualification has really hindered me job wise.
Thanks in advance
I'm bored and need to fill my head with more useless pub trivia like information 😆
So asking all car safety buffs and old timers, what cars did laminated windscreens first appear on and when were they common enough to be the 'norm'.
My dad is an older timer, he thinks the mk2 escort he had back in the day had one as an option but isn't sure.
Hi all, im looking for a new car, consuming a load of youtube content and it seems like there's a constant stream of reasons not to buy xyz car, because of something wrong with the auto gear box.
Id quite like an autobox because im lazy, but Im also so lazy I cant be doing with anything that breaks and then I need to walk.
So is there any way I can get an auto box thats realiable, if so, which cars, or should I just avoid and go old school mode (which isnt the end of the world.)
