Does my company needs an HR system for applying to sponsor license

My company is considering to get a sponsorship license to sponsor me, and they have set a meeting with me to fill out the applications, since we are a startup we don't want to pay solicitors, cause they are too pricey, we have gathered rest of the documents but were just confused with regards to HR system. Company does uses google dive for storing the employee documents and notion for tracking the progress and everything, so do we still need a HR system before applying to sponsorship license ?

Does the landlord letter need to be signed if its issued by a company?

My letter from the landlord is issued by a company (savills uk) and not a single landlord. On the letter it has thr address, company name and contact details but no signature. Is this good enough? Also if its issued by a company, does it have to be in company letterhead?

Thanks.

Youth mobility visa application

I was going through the application over the past few days and I've been stumped on this part of the application.

For the travel history portion - for countries visited in the past 10 years (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, Switzerland, European Economic Area). It asks how many times you have visited these places.

You can select 6 or more times.

But it only asks for your two most recent trips. Is that all you are required to enter? The two most recent trips? Or did I press something during the application that's limiting me to just the two most recent trips to these regions.

Let's say you have travelled to all those areas, but the last two trips were in Canada, do you just record the last two trips to Canada in the application?

There is another travel history section "Have you been to any other countries in the past 10 years?" Which specifically asks you to not include (Australia, Canada, New Zealand, USA, Switzerland, European Economic Area).

Here you can record unlimited travel history. Why are these two sections different when it comes to entering how many trips you have had?

English language assessment clarification as a UK medical graduate

I want some clarification on the English language ability section when applying for Skilled Worker Visa. It asks if "have you passed an English language assessment accepted by the relevant regulated professional body as a requirement for registration?". I'm not sure if university counts as relevant regulated professional body?

I am a doctor who graduated in a UK medical school. I had to pass my english exams fulfilling requirements for university entry. Before I received my medical license, I had to go through all exams as UK citizens, but I don't know if this is considered English Language assessment?

Is this a yes or a no?

Hi guys, i was on student visa from Jan 2023 to September 2023 and left UK by informing the University that i am no more studying with them and later on April 2024 i received the mail from home office about my visa curtailment while in my home country. Fast forward to current date, Now i will be applying as tier 2 dependent visa. Is there going to be any problem for me to obtain the visa again ? Did anyone had same situation like mine? Would be so grateful if you could help me.

Visa Advice

I have a close member of the family that’s from Bosnia and Herzegovina, but not from the EU.

They’ve been constantly living and working in the U.K. for nearly 15 years now.

However, they find the Visa costs burdening, every 2 years that they have to pay. Now the cost is £1258 for the visa, and £1000+ for the NHS. As well as solicitor fees, which are also a lot.

They’re a dedicated contributing worker and pay taxes and their bills in the U.K., as obvious.

However, like stated, the costs are burdening for them. They plan to invest in the indefinite leave next time but can’t at the moment.

I want to help them however I can.

My questions are:

Is there a way to lower costs somehow? In consideration of his contribution to society and wanting to stay in the U.K., I’m not asking for any special status for him, I know there’s many like him being of benefit. Simply asking is there any help he could seek?

Is there a way to avoid the NHS costs? Instead paying upon service if necessary?

Thank you

Can’t pay for the ancestry visa

Currently applying for the ancestry visa online from New Zealand, total cost is £5,175 or $11,674 NZD. My visa debit card will only process transactions under $10,000 NZD. Have called my bank and there’s nothing they can do as these are rules set by Visa apparently.

How else are people paying for their applications? Surely this has to be a somewhat common occurrence.

Automatic Citizenship based on my understanding.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm automatically a UK citizen and how to apply for it properly. Links would be appreciated. My understanding is that my mom, who was born AND still retains her UK citizenship, that lives in Canada, can extend her citizenship to me because I'm born between 1984-2006. My father is unknown.

From my google/reddit knowledge, I should just have to apply for a passport, but when I do on the website, it asks for my Naturalization/Registration code, of which I do not have. It would seem I cannot proceed online.

If I go to get registered in person, is all I'm required to provide is my Canadian birth certificate, and my mom's? Would it be better if she came with me with her passport?

Much obliged for any advice and forgiveness for my ignorance.

Has anyone else experienced this on EU Settlement Scheme applications?

Hi everyone, I’m in a bit of a tricky situation with my EU Settlement Scheme application, and I’d love to know if anyone has had a similar experience or any advice on whether I’m eligible.

Here’s a quick rundown:

First, I am applying to the EU Settlement Scheme to join a family member. My initial arrival in the UK was on 14 October 2023, when I submitted my first application for pre-settled status shortly afterward, but it was refused.

  • I re-applied on 12 February 2024 during my second stay in the UK, but this application was also unsuccessful (I received the decision on 25 July 2024).

  • I returned to the UK on 7 July 2024 and submitted a new application on 27 September 2024—within 3 months of this new entry.

However, the Home Office recently refused my current application, saying that I didn’t apply within the required 3 months. It seems they’re basing the timing on my first entry in October 2023 instead of my latest entry in July 2024.

In the latest decision (which I received on 2 November 2024), they also stated that I didn’t provide proof of my arrival in the UK on 14 October 2023, even though I actually sent them an electronic ticket as evidence.

The decision mentions that I proved my arrival on 14 October 2024 (a date that isn’t correct), which makes me feel like they’re not paying attention to the details. They also mentioned missing proofs that I did, in fact, upload to the platform as requested.

My questions are:

1.	Has anyone else been in a situation where the Home Office focused on the date of the first entry rather than the most recent one, even after re-application following refusals?
2.	Am I correct in thinking that, based on my 7 July 2024 entry, my 27 September 2024 application was within the legal timeframe? Or is there something I might be missing?
3.	Any advice on how to address this or if an appeal might work?

P.S. I uploaded a detailed letter explaining that this is my third application, after two refusals, and that I returned to the UK specifically to apply within the legal time frame. I mentioned that, if I were here illegally, I believe this would have been flagged upon my entry to the UK. And if they believe I didn’t apply within the 3-month window, why didn’t they raise this issue during my second application on 12 February 2024?

Thanks in advance for any insights and advice.

Youth Mobility Timeline

Thought I’d share my experience in case anyone was looking :) Canadian citizen who did biometrics in Dublin.

-Applied online on October 16th, paid visa fee and IHS surcharge.

-Loads of biometrics appointments available starting the 17th, I took an appointment on the 24th.

-Biometrics took less than half an hour from door to door.

-I gave them my passport, checklist, and financial evidence documents, left my passport there, then got an email on October 31st that my passport was ready for pickup with my vignette inside!

Monday was a holiday so from biometrics-approval was 5 days if you include the Saturday!

No Time Limit (NTL) application change

Hello all

I have a relative that has had ILR since 2001 as a sticker in an old passport. They had to move out of the uk for work but always made sure to return once a year in order to maintain ILR as they always intended to return (house and family are all in the UK).

They are now looking to complete a NTL application to obtain an e-visa.

I am helping them apply and while doing research I found that they are required to submit evidence of continued residence in the UK as well as proof of absences. Unfortunately all of their evidence of entry/exit over the last 20 years has been lost in a well documented incident. They do not have tax or health records as they only visited once a year.

I recently read however that the home office intends to change the application to no longer requiring this evidence and that they will simply ask if you have been absent for more than two year, relying on their own records to prove this.

This would make applying much simpler and we would prefer to wait until after this change is made.

Is there any way to find out when the change has been made? Or has anyone who has applied recently able to advise?

We are worried that if we complete the application portion to see what documents are required we will not be able to go back and withdraw the application.

Thank you in advance

Applying for British citizenship with 1 year absence from UK

Hello all,

I’m interested in hearing from anyone who has applied for British citizenship, especially if you exceeded the time limit for absences (more than 450 days in the last 5 years or more than 90 days in the past year). My specific situation (and I’m sure others can relate) is that I worked full-time remotely while abroad, paid all my taxes in the UK, and had significant time away due to the pandemic and personal reasons.

A few questions I have:

  1. Does the Home Office focus more on your tax and residency status with HMRC rather than strictly counting your physical days in/out of the country? I've heard some say that being continuously employed and paying UK taxes might help in proving "continuous residence" or commitment to the UK.
  2. How strict is the Home Office on the days spent abroad? In your experience, did they scrutinize each entry/exit, or was the tax record with HMRC more significant?
  3. Has anyone filled out the application and noted fewer absences than they actually had? Did this impact the process in any way, especially if you were working abroad due to Covid-19 or other reasons?
  4. Any advice on handling this in the application or providing additional context for absences?

Thanks so much for any insights or experiences you can share! I hope this helps others in similar situations, too.

Can I work on a contract with a Tier 4 student visa in the UK?

I’m currently on a Tier 4 student visa in the UK and I’m wondering if I can take on contract work. I’ve searched various sites, but the responses are contradictory. What are the rules regarding part-time contract roles? Are there any specific restrictions I should know about, especially regarding contract type employment or the types of jobs I can accept? Any insights would be appreciated!

Jordanian for skilled worker visa or asylum worst case scenario

I am a gay ex-Muslim man 25 years old. I am from Jordan and currently working in Kuwait as a Fire Alarm Engineer. I only have 1 year of experience as I graduated in 2023 and I have graduated with a Bachelor's of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Now I don't want to be a burden on UK government but seeking asylum and I want to do it through proper means. However, if I have to I might consider asylum.

I have been to the UK before and I have friends there some I knew for 5 years online before I met them in real life in the UK. I was raised in a very religious Muslim household. As a young teen I accidentally left some things on the computer once that would show me being gay which resulted in very... unfortunate results, beaten up by family as if they were trying to kill me, almost ending up in the streets. I was sent to Saudi Arabia Mecca to repent and so on. I have been very discreet since but I still hear verbal warnings from family about falling back to homosexuality.

I do not have any documented facts about this so I can not prove it in a court of law.

However, Jordan basically legalizes "honor killings" by exempting the murderer from punishment however it does not directly illegal to be homosexual. However it has no protection laws for homosexuality and the society as a whole is anti-homosexuality; both for Kuwait and Jordan, which could result in discrimination, hate speech, physical violence and worst case scenario death.
Kuwait on other hand completely illegalizes homosexuality completely and could end up in prison or deportation. And for the latter I would be sent to my grave in Jordan.

Atop these two, being an ex-Muslim is not permitted in Islamic laws; which are laws followed by both Jordan and Kuwait, which could cause me to lose civil rights or even death, plus honor killing in this case would also be a factor plus the society would be brutal towards me if found out.

All of these and living a life of complete isolation from society outside of work has affected my mental health as well. Not causing 1 but 2 suicide attempts in the past 2 years given that I feel life is futile here.

I really want to work towards a skilled worker visa for my main goal but asylum seeking is really looking my only choice at the moment. I have been relentlessly applying for jobs to the UK that could sponsor to no avail.

I have also thought of graduate visa by completing my master's degree in the UK. but given that Kuwait pays immigrants here poorly I do not make a lot of money to afford tuition and 12 months of living expenses less I live frugally for 3-4 years. And on other hand Jordan job market is worse and pays worse.

I would love guidance and advice regarding what my best path is and what I should do, as I am genuinely lost at the moment. I also want to get tf out of here in case the middle east blows out in an all out war.

Thanks and apologies for long wall of text.

Incomplete Bank statement

Hi Everyone,

I received NSF Mail and was asked to show documentation of everything I did since graduation. I submitted it today Friday Nov 2, But I made a mistake on my bank statement (this is different from POF) this is a bank statement for payslips for some months that I worked and paid, I submitted all the months needed and highlighted them, but I forgot to add the first and last page of the statement (I thought the files were large), the bank statement was signed and stamped at the branch. (without my first and last page)

My question is - should I submit the correct bank statement again to the same email address after I have replied to the first mail?

Immigration and travel with evisa

Hi,

Do you have a travel experience with evisa? How does it work? I have been denied to be provided a BRP card on my visa renewal and I have received an email from home office that I can continue my travel with evisa. Just wanted to know how does that work and what is required to be shown to the immigration officer?

Thanks

Help needed for dependent visa renewal.

Hi, Jim currently on Skilled Worker visa, and will be eligible for ILR in 1.5 years via long stay route (10 years).

My wife's dependent visa is up for renewal in February 2025. She would have completed her 3 years in UK by then.

I've a few questions related to her visa renewal -

  1. When I move to ILR, will she also need to be on ILR dependent visa?
  2. When I'm ready for ILR, my wife would've completed on 4.5 years in UK. Will she be eligible for ILR dependent visa?
  3. If answer to above questions are yes, then would it be wise to extend her Skilled Worker Dependent visa to just 2 years and then apply for her ILR dependent visa?

EDIT: I've no idea what's going on in this sub. I'm being downvoted for asking questions, and the one person who cared to respond is also downvoted.

And this is not the only thread, a majority of thread is unanswered and downvoted.

Is this the state of this subreddit?

Vfs global payment

I know a few people have been struggling with the payments on VFS global. I made it up to the payment page and when I tried to make payment it showed an error message saying that my card was not accepted by the merchant. Now when I go into the VFS page it says “your appointment is not confirmed and your payment is in progress”. Does this mean it is going to try pull the funds and we should just wait and see?

Additional Info: my card is a Mastercard so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be accepted. We’re applying for a priority appointment.

Applying for certificate of entitlement of RoA as an unrecognized dual citizen

Hey, first post!

My friend is 40 and holds both Chinese and British passports. This results in having to travel very far to avoid both parties from figuring out that he is a dual citizen.

He currently wants to give his British passport up. However, he has a British child that he must take care of (in secondary education). Does he have to give up his British passport before he can get a certificate of entitlement in the Chinese passport?

He was naturalized after 1983, and has a naturalisation certificate. If he gives his British passport up, can he still live in the UK while all the admin (eg. applying for the certificate) is taking place?

Any more info? Please ask!

Thanks

How to renew BNO passport without a referee?

I live outside the UK and I’m trying to renew my expired bno passport. I don’t know anyone that's in a recognized profession that knows me for 2 years who's also willing to fill in their passport information. I asked my dentist but he wasn’t willing to provide passport info.

Is there any other way or am I simply out of luck?

Graduate Visa Financial Sponsorship Question

Hey everyone, maybe I’m just a bit stressed but that’s what Reddit is for anyways. I’ve submitted my application for my graduate visa, and I put that I received financial sponsorship in the past 12 months - because I have received federal student loans from the US government. It is saying that I need to upload consent evidence of this, and I’m not quite sure where to find this.

It’s Friday night and I’m stressing, I’m thinking to just call them on Monday and say I made a mistake on the application. Do you think this is a big issue and that I’ll have to start the application over? There also might be the chance they accept my application anyways? Really not sure

Thanks

Further Documentation Suitability question

Hello,

applying for ILR and have been asked for further documentation to prove co-habitation. Does anyone know if documentation initially submitted as proof of financial status, can be resubmitted specifically for co-habitation proof now? For example, I used job contracts to show financial eligibility but not as proof of cohabitation, so could I submit that now as cohab proof? Same thing for bank statements

Process of getting a British passport (via Decent) as a Canadian adult

BY DESCENT*****

I used to live in Toronto, Canada and helped my boyfriend apply for his British passport earlier this year. I know I would’ve appreciated this information going through the process, so thought I’d share with anyone else going through the application as an adult what our application, experience and timeline was like.

Some background information:

  • Boyfriend’s dad is from the UK but had lived in Canada for the past 30 years (born and raised in the UK - parents are both from the UK too). Mother is from Canada.
  • Boyfriend was born and raised in Canada. He has never applied for a British passport before and only has a Canadian passport.
  • Boyfriend is British by decent (through his dad) so he did not have to apply for citizenship prior to applying for passport.

To start the process, you need to fill out an initial application on the gov.uk website. The online application itself is fairly easy to do - I would recommend gathering the appropriate documents and just doing it in one go to expedite things (you’ll need things like your current ID, parents bdays, passports etc). There’s no “login” until you complete the application so you’ll want to have it done in one go otherwise your answers won’t be saved.

Once you fill out the initial application and pay (it’s $200 cad at time of writing this) then you’ll be given a code starting with PEX followed by a bunch of numbers. SAVE THIS NUMBER as you will need it to check on your application afterwards.

Once you submit your application, you will need a proof of identity confirmation by someone who has known you for at least 2 years and is also a British citizen/passport holder. This confirmation is done online, basically you provide their contact information and they reach out directly to this individual. They will need to have their identity info on them to do the application (ie. British passport). It should take them max 15 mins to do this. We were to able to complete this entire portion (completing the initial online application, including our friend verifying BFs identity and gov.uk approving) within one day.

Once your identity check is complete and approved, this is when you can send your documents to their offices in the UK. They will tell you where to send your documents once it’s time. You will need to send your original documents (no photocopies) - yes it sucks, and yes it has to go all the way to the uk for an undetermined amount of time.

Depending on what docs you need, this will vary from person to person, but in our case, we sent:

  • BFs dad birth certificate (since he was the one born in the uk and is the British citizen)
  • BF parents marriage certificate
  • BF current Canadian passport
  • BF birth certificate
    • Important note on this: annoyingly, in Canada, parents have the option to do a short form or long form birth certificate. Unfortunately, BF mom chose the short form birth certificate but this doesn’t include parents names on the birth certificate. You NEED a birth certificate with your parents name on it as they will not accept the short form version. This step delayed us by a couple months as BF had to apply for the long form birth certificate from the Ontario government and then send it to the UK to complete his application. It took over a month for gov.uk to tell us this, so do not make this mistake and delay your application like we did.

For delivering your documents to the UK, make sure you choose a mail delivery service with a tracking number. This was very helpful for us because they kept misplacing BFs docs and we needed to reference this number multiple times.

We sent the documents in the mail April 1 2024, Canada post said it was delivered April 5 2024. Gov.uk didn’t acknowledge receiving it until April 17 2024 and that’s only because I called them to ask them if they got it.

April 22 2024, application delayed because they wanted a new photo uploaded. We uploaded a new photo on the same day that was approved.

April 29 2024, again I called them and asked them what was happening with the application and they basically had no idea and said they didn’t receive his documents (?????) even though his application on gov.uk said they had. They later called and said that they actually needed the long form birth certificate to progress with the application (see above for my note on that).

April 29 2024, BF applies for long form birth certificate from Ontario gov - this is just done online. Website says it takes 15 business days, but it took us almost 2 months. Waiting for the birth certificate from the Ontario gov was by far the longest and most difficult part of this process so have this completed before you apply.

June 6th 2024, Birth certificate received from Ontario gov and sent it by mail the next day. Once the document was received, his application was very quickly approved and basically received his passport soon after.

June 20th 2024, passport finally received!!

TIP: calling the Gov.Uk office is really the only way your application will progress. The only time our application moved along was because I called them and asked wtf was going on because nothing was updating. Yes it is annoying, especially because they don’t have a toll free number so I was calling long distance but it was worth it as it actually moved the application along.

In conclusion, the process took almost 3 months from start to passport in hand, and the longest part of that was actually just waiting for documents from Ontario/Canada. Biggest piece of advice is to have all the right documents on hand before you start applying as it will impact your application and add unnecessary expenses & stress. If you are having problems/delays, don’t be afraid to call people.

Hope this helps and good luck!!
