Hi All, I'm looking for alternative vehicle repair shops to vehicle dealerships when it comes to powertrain maintenance or repair. Typically, I prefer bringing my vehicles to Precision Service and Repair in Lewiston, MN due to no hassle pricing and overall good customer service; however, bringing my vehicle to Lewiston is not always an option.
I have a GM and a Dodge vehicle, and depending on the issue I'm having I'll either bring the vehicle to Dahl GMC or Chrysler Winona (now in Ford) due to those dealers having quick access to the oem parts.
I've actually had great service experience with Dahl GMC as if I realize the issue I have with the vehicle is work I'm able to perform myself, then they'll provide the parts list needed for the repair, or they'll work with me on bringing the total $ down. I've also had no issues with warranty and non-warranty service.
I have mixed results with Chrysler Winona as they're not as lenient on cost savings and actual service on vehicles is at times sub-par, depending on whether the service is warranty or non-warranty.
I don't have experience with bringing a non-GM vehicle to Dahl GMC, so if anyone has insight with them servicing non-GM, then I'd appreciate that feedback.
Since I've had a good experience with a non-dealer shop in Lewiston, I'm eager to know if there's any other reputable shop you like brining your vehicle to in Winona.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you all have a great thanksgiving, and I’m thankful for every one of you for making this a great community to live in. I can’t deny, Winona’s got its problems, but it’s home 💕 I’m gonna throw some questions below if anyone wants to share about their thanksgiving :))
What’s everyone doing for thanksgiving? Whats everyone making? What’s your favorite thanksgiving/fall recipe? Whats thanksgiving like for you? Do you have any strange/funny traditions/foods?
Anyone know of a good curly hairstylist or salon that specializes in curly hair in the area? I got one dreaded triangle-cut here when I first came for college 10+ years ago and have gone to Rochester ever since 😆 It’s getting tiring to drive that far for a haircut though. My hair texture is similar to Jenny Slate’s if that matters Thanks!
I was hoping to get some advice for getting an apartment next year. Our lease ends in may and I want to start looking early because I know it’s hard to get an apartment short notice. Renting the place I have now, I found it a month before I moved in. How would I find apartments that will be renting that far out? And do you have any suggestions either way rental companies?
Hi there,
I have been visiting Winona from out of town and I went to “Mega Coin Laundry” across from the Walmart to do some laundry. I noticed there was nobody else there but didn’t think much of it, after about 10 minutes it became a regular parade of disheveled looking people walking in, going straight into the bathroom and seemingly smoking meth then leaving. I know what meth smells like from living in a rough area as a teen.
I was there for about an hour, not one person came in to do laundry but at least five came to do drugs in the bathroom before I took my stuff and left.
Does anyone know anything about this? I called the manager number listed on the door and nobody replied.
Anyway obviously I won’t go there again but I am shocked this is allowed to take place. I spoke with the cashier at the tobacco shop and he said everyone is aware of it but nothing is being done.
Hi everyone,
Many of you have heard about our friend who was gravely injured in an act of unwarranted gun violence. He was in critical condition and is on the path towards recovery.
He is seriously injured with fractured ribs, injured colon, stomach diaphragm, and lungs. He also has a bruised heart, spleen taken out, limited mobility for months.
IF you are in a financial situation where you can aid in a few dollars, it will tremendously help this victim during this unimaginable time. As you can imagine, he is unable to do any work and will not be able to be fully mobile for months.
Thank you very much.

First, I am not a competitor. I'm an angry customer.
Horrific experience. This an illegal logging company.
Nearly burned down my house when they downed the powerline, which destroyed thousands of dollars of electronics including appliances, 3d printer, and our furnace. Left us without power or heat for over a week. Which required us to use hotel lodging twice during the repairs.
They claim that that John would be on site during the cut and he was not. Said they were bonded and insured, and neither of each is true. Not a word on their fancy website proved to be true.
They cut 2 trees over the property line that did not even belong to us. Then they went and chopped a fully grown HEALTHY lilac bush flat to the ground. It was over 30 years old. They left a huge mess that took 3 full days with a crew to clean up. We are still trapped under the piles of wood.
I still can't believe they cut trees in the powerline IN THE POURING RAIN. Dangerous practices doesn't even begin to cover it.
The 2 cutters they sent were not licensed, bonded, or insured. Now they refuse to compensate the damages they caused. I wanted trees cut, not my home vandalized.
John never bothered with a follow up call. Especially now as the bills for this mount up. He was happy to cash our check. I'm sure that's fraud as the job wasn't even finished and now I must hire yet another service to finish the job they wouldn't. I suspect this lack of communication is normal for them as they have been blasted for not paying workers in their Facebook page and have not bothered to address it.
Complaint was filed with Minnesota Department of commerce. I will not rest until this illegal logging company is no more.
Hello everyone!
I'm very excited to have accepted a job in Lewiston and am pretty set on moving to Winona, it seems like a really great town. I was wondering if anyone would be able to provide insights on some good places to live or good people to rent from(open to houses, townhomes, and apartments)? I will need to move in January and am looking for a place with 1 or 2 bedrooms. Thank you in advance.
Wife and I are looking to move from our godforsaken small town in Indiana. It’s like 75/25 Trump and just surrounded by hate and bigotry. How open and welcoming is Winona and is there a good amount of left leaning people in the area?
Do you have some you would like to share? I know I can buy starter but I like the idea of getting it locally.
Hey y’all!! I am interested in getting an open carry license. Where can I get that done in Winona? I’m fairly new to the region and am unsure about what the protocol is.

I just applied today for substitute teaching with the Winona Area Public Schools District. Anyone have any details on what the pay rate is? What the interview process is like? How long it takes to get hired, and just how subbing is in general in Winona?
This would be my first time substitute teaching if I get hired. Thanks in advance!
There's a sauna at the YMCA, and there's occasionally (and currently) a sauna at Prairie Island Campground. Where else are the saunas in town? Has there ever been a portable or pop-up sauna at Lake Park Lodge or at the Latch Island beach? Seems like it could be an opportunity and a cool amenity.
Sarah is by far and away the best option for making sure Winona has good representation in St. Paul!

Was tuned in tonight! Bit noisy but getting a totally cool listenable signal in the downtown area.
We'll be meeting at the bandshell (the two parking lots) at 3 tomorrow to discuss and how to approach these raids but they will be done. Recommended to have a vehicle in case we need to move to the next ones or even the first one.

My birthday is soon in November. I'm in my 30s, and wanting to spend some time not being alone.
So I did not get permission from my friend to put this on Reddit but I did get her permission to vent about it and get opinions and since the place im gonna talk about is right in this little town I thought I'd say it in this sub reddit. So I know jobs can fire you for almost anything but firing someone because you think they call out too much is wild considering the person was 1. Very sick and had proof they were sick and 2. Family emergencies and from what my friend told me is that she only called out 3 or 4 times and explained each time why she called out on top of that they tried to act slick and give her a whole week off after she had called out her 3rd time because of a serious medical issue and claimed "they were giving her a week to refresh" she eventually went up to talk to her boss and he said he'd see if he could fit her in the schedule for the weekend a day later he fired her and told her "good luck" I honestly think it was a dick move to pull some shit like that but she said the job was only 12 bucks an hour but what do you guys think?
Does this town have a punk scene, or any kind of music scene at all?
I know Heatbox came to the farm across the river like 2 weeks ago, but that seems like that was it.
Please don't tell me it's nothing but hippies around these parts.
Any place in Winona currently have Guinness draft?
Anyone else on the West side just lose power?
I just heard yes! yes! from the next door to my room.It seems like they are asking each other very simple questions.🤖🤖
Hey, I’m wondering if anyone in the area has been to burning man, or is going in 2025? Me and my roomate are hoping to go for the first time next year, and I would love to talk to someone in the area about it, get some advice, hear stories, and maybe join them if they have a camp & it’s the right fit. Thankyou!!
I’m looking for someone to apply to be my in home care taker. I only need someone a few hours a week. Someone familiar with chronic illness, and medications is preferred; but, not necessary. What I need the most help with is getting groceries, making phone calls, pill management, and heavier lifting.
I had an arhms worker but, now I don’t. It’s been two months. I need help.
If you want to be paid to be my new best friend; send me a message.
