Hey guys! Looking for a sublet/rental for me and my Fiancee that got accepted into an internship at Mayo Clinic. Was wondering if you guys know of any sites that can help out or anyone that can help out regarding this
This is the latest I can find: https://www.postbulletin.com/news/local/nearly-2-4-million-in-state-funds-readied-for-silver-lake-dam-project
I was hearing loud screaming noises and now lots of police sirens going off? Any idea on what's happening?
There’s been some escalated tensions on my block (can’t give too many details).
Does anyone know about hiring private security or increased street patrol, how much it costs and how it works?
I was walking down Elton Hills, right past Success Family Center and the WinCity Wings food truck, and a gentleman approached me to ask me a question. He said his name is Shaun and he's from Chicago, and he's opening up a bakery at that location, right next to WinCity Wings (which I guess he owns). He wanted to know what sort of baked goods might be received well in Rochester.
I probably wasn't very helpful (I can't eat gluten), but I told him I'd heard a fair amount of chatter about how this city needs more donuts. I was thinking primarily of how often I've seen posts in this subreddit authored by poor souls in the throes of quite specific but rarely quenchable cravings.
I actually told him he should post on this Reddit, though he said he didn't know what Reddit was, so he may or may not find his way here. If any of you happen to be in that area and you feel like you have some good feedback for him, I'm sure he'd appreciate it if you dropped by the food truck to give your two cents. He seemed really eager to learn, and we all know how cool it would be to see another bakery thrive here. If I heard him correctly, he even said he'd like to open multiple locations.
(Shaun himself seemed lovely, by the way. I hope he does well!)
I just moved here to be with an SO who got a job at Mayo. This city has a strange way of making you feel like an outsider. I got a fast food job and am moving into retail sales soon but I can't help but feel that this city is divided between the ones working at the Mayo Clinic and those in service jobs for them. I was told by a local that it's because the Mayo Clinic basically has a monopoly on the city. Do you feel like that's the case? Is it worth staying if I don't have plans to work in Healthcare?
I’m trying to get into reading again, but would feel more motivated with something like a book club. I enjoy more fantasy books (just finished fourth wing). Any groups meet up locally? Hoping to meet other people my age (31)
Hey everyone! I’m a student from Charité, a university in Germany, where I did some cheerleading. Now that I’m here in Rochester, I’d love to continue with some partner stunts (just for fun, not competitively). Does anyone know of any good opportunities or groups around here? Thanks in advance!
Wondering if anyone knows of open AA/recovery support groups in town.
I am in a graduate class that is asking us to attend and observe an open meeting. The “finding recovery” website has a lot of meetings but many are listed as “unspecified” and I’m not sure who to reach out to for confirmation of being open or closed.
Ideally evening or weekend times.
Thanks!
We're hiring for a 0.8 ambulatory nurse and I want to get the word out... our position is absolutely buried in the internal job site. Any ideas on how to get the word out other than sending to the RNs I personally know?
Mainly just keep Facebook for the marketplace aspect - looking for an alternative option
What’s everyone using instead?
TIA
Has anyone h
we live on the south side and looked up and saw what we think was a comet around 9pm this evening (1/28) wondering if anyone else saw it and can confirm what it was! it was so so cool

Legislative Interviews (Zoom) - Districts 24 & 25
All six state legislators representing Minnesota Districts 24 and 25 (Rochester) are invited to share their viewpoints on issues identified as top priorities by LWV MN for the 2025 Minnesota legislative session. We’ll begin by asking each legislator about their own top priorities for this session, then ask them to address questions developed by LWV MN on the following topics:
A tumultuous start of the legislative session may prevent some invited guests from attending our event, but we are hopeful and will conduct the event with any legislators who are able to attend. The Zoom link for the meeting is here. Feel free to share this with interested friends.
They say RPS enrollment is estimated to be down 7.3% next year. Are there fewer kids in Rochester? Are they going to other schools? Home schooling? I don't remember seeing any real assessment of why enrollments are going down. How can 350 kids just disappear from one year to the next?

Can someone explain why all these really nice looking apartments are all income restricted and if we want an apartment in a reasonable budget I’m stuck with the gates of Rochester or homestead etc.
I’m looking for maximum 1400 because with debt it’s all I can afford but I don’t want to be in a bad complex. But I make too much for the income restricted properties. It’s just upsetting seeing places that advertised luxury at affordable prices and then it’s income restricted and I’m left with basic amenities at Olympic village and homestead and mile manor etc.
Hey everyone, I know this isn’t a usual question/concern on this sub. But with everything happening right now, I’m finding it more and more difficult to stay in place while things seem to get worse and worse. Is there any opportunities or way that I can help fight against trump in roch?
Thanks in advance and sorry for the odd question lol
I'm not sure how big of a no-no it is to feed the pigeons in Rochester because I have been the only person I know who feeds them, and frankly I don't think anything can stop me even if the punishment is being shot on sight. I know that we've been having a war with the geese and ducks of Silver Lake for decades now which I can accept, but I cannot forsake my favorite avian rats: pigeons. Whenever I go to Texas Roadhouse I take a few bags of peanuts and keep them in my shoulder bag for when I go on walks in case I run into a flock of pigeons and no one else is around so I can crack the shells and toss some nuts to the little guys.
I don't care if they poop everywhere and keep flying into glass and littering the sidewalk with their bodies, they are funny and I will provide them with a little snack!
Curious to see how many other transplants in their 20s are currently living in rochester or planning to move from another state. How long have you lived there and how are you making friends/meeting people outside of work?
Does anyone have any experience with the coin shops in town? I'm looking to get rid of some of my collection and possibly some of my late mother's collection as well.
What charities in Rochester (not Minneapolis) hold gala fundraising galas? I am looking to support more charities and love a good gala dinner.
I'm late posting this, but Castle Con continues at the Chateau through tomorrow. I stopped by yesterday and it was packed! Love it. More info here.
I talked to board member ATU local 1005 and he tells me ZIPS drivers voted 100% yes to authorize a strike!
Has anyone seen the tuxedo cat southbound 52 about 1/2 mile north of I90 ? Wondering if someone is missing him ? I’ve seen him wandering around the last 3 days.
Hey yall!
We a rock band out of Miami Beach, Florida.
We are currently planning our Summer 2025 Tour and looking for “creepy/haunted” venues to perform at.
Our bands studio album, An Unkindness, features members of Pearl Jam, New Found Glory, Morphine, and Guns N Roses. Last year, we played Stephen Kings 75th birthday celebration. Next month, our brand new single, “Dracula New World Remix”, will be on the new trailer for GTA-6
Since Reddit has always been a great forum for us to find places we are wondering if you guys had any suggested small venues that could work for a small performance. We also were wondering if anyone here would like to help out and be extras in the film (we have extra masks). If interested in being an extra, please send a PM.
Hope to hear some great suggestions and hope to see yall soon
thanks!
