Is there anywhere I can buy decent lefse in the area?
Hi - I'm going to be in Cohasset over Thanksgiving weekend, and am looking to see if there are any Turkey Trot events in the area. I looked at all the usual sources (event calendars, etc) but didn't find anything. Thanks!
Can anyone tell me, from experience, how busy the traffic is along Golf Course Road with the new school and hospital? Is it difficult to live anywhere along the road in the older southwest neighborhood? Thank you!
I have to relocate to GR, MN for quite a while and need to rent a 1/2 bedroom. I've been quite surprised at how expensive, compared to what I was imagining for such a small town, the rental prices are. So I'm curious if anyone has any tips about the rental market there. Seems like the pipeline has both stretched and inflated it...
Any insight would be greatly appreciated,
imp

Hey everyone!!
Since friends don’t let friends miss out on a good deal, I thought I'd share a giveaway I stumbled on on my timeline the other day! Flashfood is giving away 10 $50 Visa gift cards!! I just bought some stuff on the app to take my pic so I can enter to win. PLUS just got myself and the family breakfast and snacks tomorrow for dirt cheap.
Giveaway is closing Monday!!!!
Went to a landing today and was told by the boat inspector that there’s a tournament tomorrow. Wondering if anyone has any details on this at all.
Dear all,
I've been up in Northern MN for a couple years, but have mostly used big stores (Super One, Target) and online shopping. During the lockdown, I've been wanting more and more to support local small businesses, especially food ones, since eating is basically I can do these days.
I'm near Grand Rapids, but happy to drive as well for great stuff - anyone have any ideas? Farmers, makers, dairies, products? I'd love to find out more stuff from the area, instead of loving the nature but supporting big, far-away businesses!
Thanks so much for your help!!!
Hi /r/GrandRapidsMN,
I'd like to visit your town someday soon. Tell me what defines the town of Grand Rapids in Minnesota. What is your favorite restaurant? Favorite local spot? Scenic/nature spot? Cultural landmark - both historical and current?
Any historical stories/information that you feel define Grand Rapids as a Minnesotan town?
Or what is your favorite personal thing about Grand Rapids?
What's a good service around here for in a pinch? And if possible to tell me what are the rates
Anybody know anywhere around the Grand Rapids area where a couple in their 30s can enjoy some time casually with others?
So, I was watching Ken Burns new Country Music show on PBS, and it got me to thinking about my own Country Music past. My family owned McCormicks store north of Grand Rapids during the concert heydeys until '92.
Some of the acts that we had there included:
Asleep at the Wheel
Merle Haggard
Riders in the Sky
Bellamy Brothers
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band
Taj Mahal
and more!
You may just have to ask your parents, or someone a bit older, but I am looking for any memories that people can share about specific concerts, set-lists, memorable happenings or people, or anything else fun you may be able to recall.
You don't have to remind me about the guy who brought his own piece of wood to boogie down. That guy is burned in my head forever. Like a west coast hippie living in a bluegrass lovers body, in northern Minnesota. Off-da!
If you were there, and you had drinks, I can all but guarantee, you handed me money. What do YOU remember?
Looking for information on this company that once operated in Grand Rapids. There's some information online (old adverts and a couple of articles). Wondering if anyone here has any personal recollections.
