Hi there. I am considering a move to Bemidji with my family and wanted to ask some questions. Will highly appreciate any input.
How is elementary school education in Bemidji? Firstly, I want to know if it is safe.
I am looking up rentals in the area and the options are quite limited on popular online websites. Our priority is a peaceful safe apartment/condo near lake shore. Do you think there are such options in the area? The budget is up to 4K$/mo for me.
Thank you in advance!
Hey my fellow Redditors! We’re looking for someone to install a new 50 gallon electric water heater. Our old one is on the fritz and I’m not sure how much longer it’ll hang on.
Plumbing and wiring are all in place. New unit will be waiting for your expertise. We can get rid of the old one!
If you or someone you know is looking for someone extra Holiday cash please let us know!
Thanks!
Hey all. Having some issues with my old school western plow. Does anyone know of any repair shops? I searched online but it seems like I’m mostly finding plow services for driveways and all.
Thanks everyone!
Any good coverup tattoo artists in the area? The tattoo I want covered is a largeish grey and black tattoo ony forearm. Never had a coverup done before so I'd like to find a trustworthy and talented artist in the area
Hey I’m 26 and just moved here I’m looking for a gym, I’ve been looking at snapfitness and they look pretty good, do yall know any better gyms
Hey I have an apartment and I’m looking for a cleaner, maybe about an hour or 2 of work needs the hardwood floors cleaned and the bathrooms, if you know anyone please let me know
A little-known Minnesota House race in the northwest is at fever pitch. It pits DFLer Reed Olson against Republican newcomer Bidal Duran for the open District 2A seat. Duran has a somewhat controversial record from working law enforcement. However, in a very red area of the state, Olson has an uphill battle.
Bemidji State University political science professor Patrick Donnay said he does not think Duran’s personal history will lose him the race. Donnay said in this deeply red district it’s DFLer Olson facing a tough road.
“This district is a stretch for any Democrat,” Donnay said. “And you’d have to have really big margin and big turnout in Bemidji to make up for all the solidly red precincts across the rest of the district.”

Is there any place, like a car wash or laundromat that gives out quarters for cash without a charge? Or also not those dumbass laundromat only coins that work only there
Anyone know the cafe downtown that had awesome and big cookies back in the 70s-80s
As the title says, I'm a trans man and am looking at places to move to, and bemidji caught my attention. But unfortunately I always have to snoop around for this kind of thing for my own safety and such... so, as residents of the city, would I run into any trouble here for being trans? What's the overall vibe over there regarding it? Thank you in advance
Is there any place in Bemidji that still counts coins that gives it out a total? Or anywhere around? I haven’t seen one in a while, and i just won a gatorade bottle full of quarters i’d like to have a receipt for perse when i deposit it to my bank. :)
Dear lord when they said MN had bugs y’all weren’t joking! First it was the mosquitos eating me alive outside and now the amount of flies and lady bugs I swat on the daily is outrageous! What the heck do you all do give a girl some tips to keep them out of my house! 😤 we’ve put up so many fly traps around our property to keep the from the house but it’s not doing enough.
Why does it seem that Bemidji doesn’t have a single exterior and interior car wash? Most places have vacuums and some have towels but nobody cleans the inside anymore. TM detail is closed and they seemed to be the only place to do that
me and my buddy like urbex, but the only spots we know are a couple houses and then the old dairy building. does anyone know any others in the area?
Is Bemidji good for hunting? Worse or better than surrounding areas?
Hey all! New to Bemidji and we are hoping someone can help us find some fun things to do. We don’t drink just as an FYI. I was looking at the Hatchet House as an option but wanted to see what other places would be good to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 💙
Just curious if each of the three surrounding reservations has a different vibe, culture, economy, resource, etc.
Does one have more farmers and one have more wild rice? Do any have bison herds or outstanding fishing? Any famous people? (Besides Winona LaDuke) Any really rezzed out places that I shouldn't drive at night? Any with cool programs for kids?
Any info is nice to know!
Hello, African American here. Is Bemidji a safe place for me to move to? I am a veteran that has gotten a job offer at the VA there, Interview today. MN is a place I am very curious about and like the nature I see online and the lifestyle I read about. But I am unsure about my safety as a black person. Research online says theres less than 2% of blacks that stay there. Do You think I’m good to go? Or do I have something to worry about?
What are the amazing places to eat in Bemidji? We’re in town for the night and looking for some great local restaurants or breweries.
Ok, provocative title aside.
So, my backstory, right, is I recently moved to Bemidji with my family, and I've been a stay at home parent since 2021. I'm also a trans woman.
I'm doing some paperwork and i notice there's a job fair downtown and figure I can take a look and maybe make a few connections or something. I jam out a resume and print them at the library and head over.
Maybe it's just the jobs I was intereste din that did this, but almost all of them were essentially, "Visit our website and see what's available!"
And, just, idk, man, but this seems like such bad opportunity for job seekers. Like, I'd like to expect, idk, some interviews being done and these businesses there actually looking at the pool of people coming to this.
Is it better than nothing? Sure. But its honestly no different than if you just went to a bunch of business/local website from home. In fact that's what every job i had interest in just told me to do.
So, I guess, just seems like a wasted opportunity. And maybe the logistics of "Come here and be interviewed and maybe hired!" isn't possible but, honestly, not much point in a fair if all the booths tell you to go find a computer and apply online.
Hi all! We are on vacation at a nearby resort. It's only 30 mins from Bemidji. Our dog has medical needs and has to be with us so can anyone help us out with a list of dog friendly places in Bemidji? Thank you so much!
What is the best mobile phone service providers in the area? Especially for being out on lakes and on trails.
Considering a move to the area. What's it like? What is the college like? Seems to be geared toward humanities and environmental issues. Is that reflective of the community?
I know it's surrounded by 3 reservations. There seems to be conflicting info on whether that lends to more crime. I'm not a white asshole though and will be living in the country. I'm guessing I'll be fine?
What're the politics like? Is there a moderate mix?
What are the people like?
Thanks for any input
Anyone in the Nymore area happen to catch some people last night rummaging through cars on their security camera?
I’ll be visiting next month for The Blue Ox Marathon. Any tips or suggestions to make it a good experience? Where to stay? How to get there? Park? Where can I get a good plate of spaghetti to carb up the night before? What’s the best pizza delivery for after the run? What else should I do while I’m in town? I’ve never been! Thanks in advance.
Officials with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency say smoke from Canadian wildfires is drifting into the northern part of the state Monday making the air unhealthy for everyone.
The agency has issued an air quality alert for north-central and northwest Minnesota. That includes Brainerd, St. Cloud, Bemidji, International Falls, Roseau and the tribal nations of Mille Lacs, Leech Lake and Red Lake.
