My family - husband, two girls (9 and 11) and myself - are hoping to move early 2025 to MN. We’re looking for a fairly liberal, diverse, safe place to land. Northfield seems to fit the bill, but I’d love input. We’re used to living somewhat rurally, but within 30 minutes of a bigger metro area. It looks like Northfield has most of the basic stores and restaurants. How are the schools? Are there enough activities to keep kids busy? Anything else, good or bad, would be great to know.
Hi there,
My husband and I are looking at a home just outside of Northfield, and we are very excited by the house and location, but really disappointed in the fast internet options. We both work from home, but for him in particular, he runs Site Reliability for his job and would like to have a super fast, reliable wifi.
Two questions:
Curious if anyone has any suggestions!

As noted in a previous thread, I'm considering a move to Northfield and looking at various employment possibilities. I work in healthcare and was interested to discover that the hospital and EMS appear to be owned by the city, something unheard of where I live currently - it seems like it could be a refreshing change from corporate healthcare. I was wondering if anyone has work experience (or patient experience) at either the hospital or in the EMS system that they would be willing to share.
I am potentially moving to Northfield from out of state, and would likely be working in either Twin Cities or Rochester (although areas more local to Northfield are not totally out of the question). What are your thoughts about the feasibility of that commute? I like that Northfield is equidistant from the two in case my job locations change but not sure of the traffic situations etc.
Hi there,
I recently moved to the area and was wondering if anybody knew of some indoor volleyball leagues this fall or winter? I would love to join a co-ed team if there are any recommendations people have. Thanks for the help!
Like the title suggests, I recently accepted a job in Northfield at one of the colleges and I am looking for some advice :)
Where are your favorite places to eat?
Are there any fun bars/places to meet people? I’m kind of a dive bar kind of girl but will try out anything.
Who do you all go through for a WiFi provider?
What are some good laundromats? (I’m in the hunt for a washer and dryer that are in good condition and relatively cheap as well)
Let me know if you have any couches or chairs that you’re trying to sell/get rid of :)
Thank you!!
Do people in Northfield use Doordash, Instacart, or something else? I’m thinking of earning some extra money. Thanks in advance.
Hi, i’m going to Carleton later this year. I can’t wait to go to Northfield

Just visiting for a few days. I've been to Caribou a couple of times. I drive around a bit to see what's here, it's quiet all the time. I know there is Faribault 20 minutes away from here.
Just like the title says. Full time hours, great pay and benefits. If you know someone. Or know someone who knows someone.
Opening 11/18 off of 3 across from Apple Chevy.
I’ll be coming into Northfield for a wedding next weekend and I’m curious what the Uber/Lyft situation is like there. Will I have difficulty getting around in Northfield without a car? How about to and from MSP?
If your kitchen knives aren't performing as they used to, I offer kitchen knife sharpening for a base price of $5. Message if interested
We are looking for a couple players to join our baseball team. We play in Northbrook and the cost to play would be $400 which includes jersey and hat. We play 15 games, all on Sundays and guaranteed playoffs. Email me at kbabaseballchi@gmail.com if you are interested with your name and any questions you may have! Season starts the 2nd week of April and runs through August!
Hello?
Hello Northfield!
I’m a genealogist & I am trained in discovering local Minnesota family lineages and stories through historical records.
This is the interest form I put together for anyone interested in learning more about their Minnesota family history. I create family trees, historical road trip itineraries, ancestral maps, etc! It’s a super cool way to connect with your own history and great knowledge pass down to future generations.
Here are some things you can discover from my research:

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!
Our daughter graduates from St. Olaf at the end of May, and my husband and I have decided to journey east in an Airstream trailer from Portland, OR to Northfield, MN, and spend a couple nights there to gather up her stuff and say goodbye. We'll do some camping on the way there and back.
As luck would have it, grad weekend is also Memorial Day weekend, so every campground within 100 miles of Northfield has been booked since January, it seems. So, we need a place to park it for about 48 hours, and we really, really don't want to go to the Walmart in Faribault.
Do you know of anyone in town who has space on their property and would let us stay there in exchange for $$ and a box of goodies from the Northwest? Or maybe we could offer you the same deal to let us park in front of your house? Or other ideas? We are quiet, nonsmoking, vaccinated people who wouldn't be any trouble (we won't need hookups) and would appreciate this kind of help very much.
My daughter is majoring in theatre, and I have LOVED coming to Northfield to visit and see her shows. I'm going to miss it!
Hi r/Northfield,

Any historical stories/information that you feel define Northfield as a Minnesotan town?
Or what is your favorite personal thing about Northfield?
Hi all,
I'm looking for a place to room this year. I'm a senior at St. Olaf college and for that reason would like to live close to campus. Please let me know!
coming to Northfield to visit some friends and was curious of any caves in the area or other cool areas for urban exploration?
