I know okc has versed the Brodie when he was on the Rockets, but this time feels different because this feels like Russ' last embers of his career as "contributor". I rekon both okc and the nuggets are gonna be right up there in the western conference, which puts us on a inevitable collision course in the playoffs.I hope we aren't the ones to end his post season this year 😭

Inspired by a previous post I saw that had some crazy takes (forgot your name sorry) here are some of my takes and thoughts heading into the season.

1. One of the rookies will have a Cason type impact in his rookie season.

I like both of their games a lot so much so that I couldn’t just narrow it done to one of them. If I was to say one I would honestly say Ajay Mitchell since I can visually see his game flourishing in off ball situations better than Dillon Jones (even though I do think Dillion Jones brings more defensive upside).

2. Isaiah Joe is more likely to start than Isaiah Hartenstein

One of the main things about this team is the amount of depth they have but that is mostly between guards and wings. With the addition of Hartenstein I know a-lot of people think that either he or Caruso will take that role replacing Giddey with some even thinking that both with start. However I think it’s more likely that the competition for the fifth spot is between Joe and Caruso. We all know that Joe when paired with SGA in any lineup screams trouble for the opposing team. This team after the Giddey trade has at least to me listening to interviews has emphasized more volume shooting from behind the arc to prioritize spacing for SGA and JDub getting down hill. I also am still of the belief that Chet playing the 5 is a lot more beneficial simply because centers can’t guard Chet on the perimeter. With that being said if Hartenstein does start you will be putting modern day 4s on Chet who at this stage might still cause problems for him. With Joe or Caruso starting 5’s will be forced to guard Chet leaving yet another mismatch on the floor.

3. JDub will get the Jaylen Brown treatment this year.

I would like to clarify I do not think JDub is at the level of Jaylen Brown. JB to me is minimum 15 on my personal list I think he is extremely good and don’t know if JDub will be there at the end of this season. What I mean however when I say that is that people will underrate JDub in saying how good is he actually because he will constantly be up against the opposing team second best defender. I think he can easily average more points as a number one option and I think JDub will have some 40 point barrages to solidify that stance.

I get it. Some of you miss him. But he’s no longer part of the team and we don’t need daily updates about his media day or injuries.

This thread is intended as a general discussion of the potential surprises (good and bad) in the upcoming season?

Every season has surprises (good and bad). Some of them you can envision beforehand and others come out of the blue.

I’ll throw a few things out there for discussion. These are not my predictions, but there are at least hints that them coming true are not outside the realms of possibility.

1. The only two true “locks” to start may be SGA and Chet. I know that most have penciled in 4 locks and then diversity of opinions from there, with spots 4 and to a much higher degree the 5th spot being more in flux. By the end of the year two roster locks might be the only true locks.

2. Dort is a fan favorite and some love his play so much that he is beyond fair evaluation of his play. I think he will begin the year as a starter based more on last year’s continuity than the level of his play. The question is when the dust settles will he be viewed as the 4th best player on the team or will he be viewed more of a defensive dominator but be father down the pecking order in roster importance/level of play.

3. What version of JDub will we see this season? Will he be the guy who is nearly a lock for a close to max deal or will he be the guy we saw in the Mavs series that didn’t have the best series. Was his lackluster Mavs series due in part to his ankle injury or something else.

4. What player will make the positive leap year over year that may push for a starting position? Wiggins? Cason?

5. What player may fall into an odd man out situation that may force that player to play a slightly different role than he is used to, or squeezed out for playing time?

6. Will the Thunder add/ship out/ or otherwise move a player this season due to considerations in upcoming years. I think Kenrich is a real possibility to fall out of the rotation and get moved for future draft pick compensation.

7. Will the rookies have any real impact this season?

Hi everyone! I’ve been a Thunder fan since I was 8 years old back in 2010. I’ve attended a few Thunder games when the Thunder visited my hometown Wizards, but finally as an adult have saved up enough money to fly out to OKC and experience Paycom in person for both the Warriors and Clippers b2b in early November. A few questions.

1. Is it worth splurging a bit and spending in the 100’s section? Obviously want to save as much as possible, while still getting a great experience. I was thinking about buying a nice ticket for one of the two games, and then experiencing Loud City for the other. Would that be ideal, or would I be better off just experiencing loud city for both. I’m a very vocal fan and am really looking forward to my voice being gone at the end of the game around fellow Thunder Fans.

2. I’ll be flying in a day before the game as I want to explore the city a bit, if anyone has any recommendations on things to do/try I’d really appreciate it. I’ll be traveling solo but would love to explore the city I’ve loved from afar for more than half of my life.

Im just very curios on how will OKC handle Durant as a player when he retires? I really doubt that Mr. Presti will hold a grudge on a player who did a lot fo the franchise like people in Minnesota did towards KG.

Lets just put away for a second on the snake stuff and imagine a situation when KD will be inducted into the HOF.

Who will he represent (what team)? He spent 8 years for us and left as a free agent (yes, he left us high and dry but Vinces situation was much worse in my opinion).

Led the team to the Finals - YES

MVP - YES

Scoring titles - YES

What did Vince do apart from putting a team on the map? And dont get me wrong (im a big VC fan)- Nothing!

I think that by retiring Vinces number the raptors showed how other organiztions should handle bad relationships with players who did a lot for their teams.

P.S. Im not a KD number one fan but im not a person who will underestimate what he did for the thunder aswell.

How do you think minutes will be distributed on a night to night basis? Obviously matchups will change the way minutes are distributed, but on a day to day nightly basis the minutes will average out. If I had to guess the minutes right now here’s how they’d go ⬇️

SGA- 34+ Jdub- 33+ Chet- 30+ Dort- 27+ Hartenstein- 25+ Caruso- 27+ Joe- 15+ Wiggins- 12+ Jwill- 5+ Dillon Jones- maybe some spot minutes here and there? Kenrich- same as Dillon Jones Dieng- back in Gleague? I have no idea tbh Everyone else- zero
