Question by Highkin at 3:50 in the media availability.
Ayton had some high praise for Scoot, and also mentioned him being the starting PG and establishing himself as the franchise guard. Curious if this is just him talking him up, or if this is a glimpse into Scoot being the starting PG this season?
Taze Moore Current status: Two-way contract, Portland Trail Blazers Taze Moore was just rewarded a two-way contract after a strong year for the Rip City Remix, a pair of 10-day contracts with the Portland Trail Blazers, an MVP showing at the Canadian Elite Basketball League and a productive debut for G League United at the Fall Invitational. The 6'5" guard packs exciting speed and explosiveness for blowing by and finishing above the rim. His value on the floor revolves mostly around rim pressure and energy. He's lightning in space or the open floor, and he mixes in effective footwork off the dribble to get to his spots and the basket. Shooting has always held him back, but he's been effectively streaky with an ability to catch fire in a way that a non-shooter can't. He also averaged 5.5 assists, leveraging his quick first step and gravity into secondary playmaking. Regardless, the ultimate draw to Moore stems from energizer potential as a change-of-pace guard who's highly active and constantly in attack mode.

Hey I'm going to Fan Fest tomorrow and dont have any t-shirt, hat or knockoff jersey for the 7yo comming with us. Let alone me. When I lived in Buffalo the Wegman's grocery chain always would carry Bills and Sabres unique shirts and hats and stuff always reasonably priced well below buying it offline.. is there any place in portland that kinda does this too?. I checked Fred Meyer and laughed at their selection so I know not there.
Mama mia
All - I know that many of you will be unhappy with this post, but I myself am bracing for the worst blazers season of my lifetime (42 btw). From Ayton’s allergy to playing in the post to Scoot’s number one lesson from his first year being ‘good food’ to Grant being the worst rebounder ever for anyone 6’9” or taller, I think we are in for an historically bad season. I am excited about Clingan’s potential for the future, but I think he’s going to be in foul trouble a lot, at least for the first half of the season. Sharpe has been the definition of inconsistent, and Ant hasn’t shown he can carry the team like his predecessor could. I would put the Blazers win total at 15 for the season, and possibly lower. Am I being too pessimistic?
Obviously it would be great to have him healthy because he's a good player that will help make things easier for the team if he's out there, and it increases the chances we get some value for him on the trade market. That being said, i doubt we would get much for him even if he had perfect health and played great up until the trade deadline. Theres just too long a history of bad health; a couple months of good health doesn't erase 6 years of injuries.
If Rob isn't able to stay healthy, that means more developmental minutes for the guy we just drafted 7th. In my opinion, this is more important than chasing trade value for a guy that i doubt any team would ever risk a first for.
Just wondering
Deni Avdija and Toumani Camara are our stoppers, but how do the other forwards rank defensively? Matisse Thybulle is obviously a good defender but is more of a 2/3 wing where these other guys are 3/4 forwards.
Jerami Grant has been a good defender in the past, but these days he has less of a reason to get after it, and is getting paid handsomely for his offensive contributions. He’s uniquely terrible of a rebounder which does hurt you on defense, and he’s lost a bit of a step in terms of quickness to where he’s more comfortable on PFs as opposed to SFs these days. What he does bring is a versatile defender with height, long arms, and good positioning, he’s a better help defender than a man defender, but I remember that first season he was here with Dame he would be thrown on the opposing teams best players and some nights he’d make it real difficult for them- I remember him covering LeBron and making him work for every bucket.
Kris Murray may be out of the rotation because he’s unplayable offensively, but every time you hear his name from anyone around the team, they talk about how good his defense has looked, and it’s been a thing for a while where other players will mention that Kris is absolutely lights out as a shooter… in practice. ^(“Practice?!? We talkin practice??”) Putrid in actual game minutes though. Switchable, big, smart, Kris has a lot to like as a defender, but he has to be able to get on the court to show it.
Walker is less a 3/4 and more a true blue PF, he’s a bulldog competitor who is built like a brick shithouse and uses his solid frame to absorb contact and bump with the best of them. For every bit as bad a rebounder Jerami Grant is, Jabari Walker is the inverse, he has a nose for the ball and loves to hoover boards clean. He’s too short to provide any rim protection so can’t flex to small-ball five, and has his own shooting woes just like Kris where he struggles to provide offensive utility to allow him to crack the rotation. He’s able to move on the perimeter decently but it isn’t a strength, he’s strong enough to make guys getting to their spots a little more difficult, but he rarely takes away shots. He has a little bit of a bag but in the inefficient way where you generally wince when he uses a possession.
Which do you prefer as the 3 best forward defender after Avdija and Camara?
I feel like this guy deserves to make the All-Defensive Team at some point during his career. I mean LA is a pretty good defender and the good one at positioning on time though it's just that it's been overshadowed.
I keep seeing a lot of questions about watching games this season, both in this sub and on other social media platforms. I thought I would make a little FAQ regarding the new over the air (OTA) and direct-to-consumer options for the upcoming season.
I'm sure there are more questions and if you have one please send it my way. I meant to get this out a week ago but my work schedule has been crazy. Anyway, here we go.

Q: Will Blazers games be available on satellite television?
A: According to KATU the Rip City TV Network will be available on Dish Network Channel 290-36.
Q: I am a Hulu TV/YouTube TV/Fubo/etc subscriber, can I watch the games?

Q: How do I watch the games for free over the air?
A: The vast majority of modern televisions have built in over the air tuners, one simply needs to purchase and connect an antenna. For most, a simple indoor antenna like the Mohu Leaf should suffice. Some may find that an outdoor antenna is more suited to obtaining a signal. The RabbitEars.Info Signal Search Map is a great tool for helping determine a height and direction for outdoor antenna installations.
Q: What resolution will the games be broadcast in?
A: In Portland channel 2.2 is currently broadcast in 480i. According to an engineering FAQ provided by KATU, the channel will be switched over to 1080i on October 18th. While 4K broadcasts have not been announced, KATU is one of the few local networks that have filed ATSC 3.0 paperwork with the FCC.
Q: How many games with be available on the Rip City TV Network?
A: All regular season games will be broadcast on the network with the exception of the nationally televised game on January 28, 2025 which is a home game against the Milwaukee Bucks.
Q: Can I watch the games on demand over the air?
A: In order to record, pause, rewind or rewatch OTA programming you will need an OTA DVR like a Tablo device.
Q: I would prefer to stream the games to my smartphone, smart TV, or computer. Can I do that?
A: Yes! In addition to free over the air broadcasts the Portland Trail Blazers have announced a direct-to-consumer streaming subscription called BlazerVision. You can subscribe to BlazerVision and watch live games through the NBA app or through NBA.com. It will include access to live games, on-demand replays and original content.
Q: How much does BlazerVision cost?
A: It costs $120 for the 2024-2025 season or $19.99/month starting November 1st. If you subscribe for the full season by October 31st you will receive a pair of upper bowl tickets to a select game during the season.
Q: Is DVR available on BlazerVision?
A: No, you will not be able to pause, rewind or fast forward live broadcasts. If you turn on a live game you will start watching from that point in the game. Replays will be available 60 minutes after the conclusion of the post-game show.
Q: I'm a Blazers fan living outside of the local media market, can I still subscribe to BlazerVision?
A: No, and yes. Officially, BlazerVision is for customers in the local media market which covers Oregon and Washington. Subscriptions are zip code authenticated. Those traveling outside of the market can watch games for 30 days before they need to re-authenticate in the local media market. That being said, it's likely that savy Internet users who utilize a VPN will be able to circumvent these authentication measures.
Q: Will preseason games be available on Rip City TV Network and BlazerVision?
A: According to the official Blazers schedule on NBA.com the Blazers preseason game against the Utah Jazz on October 18th will be broadcast on Rip City TV Network and BlazerVision.
Edit: added information on preseason games.
Edit 2: included Dish Network details.
Edit 3: revised channel listings to use a table format provided by u/ciroc__obama.
I always bet $100 on us for our first games of the regular season.
I was just curious about what you guys thought of our matchup.
Set up the antenna today, and found the channel where the Blazer games are gonna be broadcasted. Was kind of disappointed with how it looked. Its not awful, and definitely still a good cheap option for people, but yeah its pretty low quality. Probably gonna buy BlazerVision because i want HD quality.
Preseason starts Oct 4 but our first game is Oct 11. It seems like every year there are teams that are part of the first section of summer league and we only start in the second part. What gives? Yes I am fiending for blazers basketball
What numbers is Scoot putting up in his sophomore season? Or do you think instead of being more score first he ends up being more pass first this season as a point guard?
I also have the og Dairy Queen glasses. When I bought these beers I got an extra just to hold onto full. Any others out there?
They sent out the email to claim your tickets yesterday. I got tickets to the Memphis game since it’s an early start time on Sunday, and I’m planning to take my daughter to her first game.
Was watching Danny Marangs podcast last night and he said that a lot of nights Clingan may get like 6 minutes, and on a lot of other nights he'll get DNP's, and that the important thing for him in year 1 is getting his body right.
It seems crazy to me to barely play the guy you just took in the lottery when you are a bad rebuilding team. I'd be really disappointed if he gets a bunch of DNP's...
What do you guys think about that?
