Bottoms up!
… and Luka comes back from the calf injury next week. He’ll definitely be rust-free and primed for the 25th. Over/Under 50.5 pts for Luka? Make it or miss it, Luka will be shooting 35 times lol.
FORMER Mavs fan of almost 25yrs. Lived in Los Angeles my entire life. Time to finally give in and accept the Lakers.
Booked possibly Luka’s first game as a Laker + Fuck Nico Harrison game.
If we're going to count him as a 4, I already see him as the best ever 4 to wear a Lakers jersey. In terms of being a 5, he's under the Shaq/Kareem tier, probably in the Wilt/George Mikan level.
He is not the type to blabber to the media. He is savvy and usually gives brief answers and seems to want to just get through the Q&As like a pro. So I wouldn't necessarily expect him to give huge soundbite responses. At least he usually doesn't.
AD will opt out of his last year in the contract after this season and becomes a free agent. Lebron becomes a free agent next season. AD comes back to the lakers at supermax, then Lebron will take veterans minimum for the sake of getting a chip with bronny.
Just imagine, Luka-AD-Lebron big 3.
Just what if....
Even if Nico wanted AD, Rob still had to walk him into it otherwise he might have changed his mind. Had Rob pushed too hard Nico would have backed out.
He still had to keep it a secret and not let it leak.
He still had to convince Nico not to call other teams.
He still had to negociate and keep as much assets as possible. And he managed to do all that.
And people saying "they offered him Luka" as if the trade was done in a minute. Rob worked Nico for a month.
Also, this trade happened because they had a relationship. It happened based on Rob connections.
Let all that sink in.
One thing up front, I don’t think LeBron was pushing for an AD trade or was frustrated with AD. He should be upset by those pushing that narrative as a reason for the trade. He seems close to AD and I’m sure will miss him. However…
He’s 40 and looking for one last shot at a ring. The Lakers just paired him with the second best player in the league, a guy who has been among the best in history in the postseason. They also kept the assets they need to get the size and defense now needed.
Lakers have the man the best teammate he’s ever had, and managed to do it without giving up most of the team’s core, and are equipped to fill the immediate needs.
He must be furious. How dare they! He should demand a trade because they got a guy who is 25 yet has been named FIRST TEAM ALL NBA 5 straight years, to play with Steph instead who, btw, doesn’t have 5 first team nods in his entire career.
Guess it was really serious that Luka was getting complacent.
As hard as it is for the Mavs, this trade was a parting gift from the Mavs to Luka. They didn’t trade him to just any team and get the most profit, instead they shipped him only to the Lakers with an aging Bron, who is possibly the best person that can mentor him. The Lakers can build around him and be the face of the franchise potentially until the end of his career. And the best place for superstars to earn endorsement deals.
Slightly joking, but not really. Obesity is a solved problem (if you have money). Ozempic is well documented in studies and safe.
If reports are accurate and he's reaching up to 270, this is obviously a problem. Put him on Ozempic for a couple months, shed 40 odd pounds, get on the Lebron regiment, and we have a top 10 player of all time for the next 10 years.
Lebron coming to the Lakers is one of the greatest moments in Lakers history and NBA history.
Does everyone remember the dark ages post 2011?! Where Kobe was injured we had the CP3 trade nixed, had the worst record and playoff drought in franchise history then Bam. Almost instant you knew things were going to be better when the LeBron to Lakers notification dropped.
After that he got us AD and a chip fast forward to present day we have a 25 year old Luka Fucken Doncic on the lakers because we traded AD.
Yes there have been ups and downs during his Laker tenure specifically with management but damn does this moment make it all feel worth it.
Let’s enjoy the rest of the season knowing we have 2 GOATs playing on OUR team for this season and next (at least).
I fucken love being from LA and being a Laker fan.
🍻
“Lakers are back… and they’re not done yet. They are a big man away from completely disrupting the West, if Luka is healthy”
Keep cooking Rob.
