"The Warriors, league sources said, have inquired about Durant’s availability, as Jake Fischer reported on Monday morning. But it’s unclear how open Durant would be to a Warriors reunion and whether the Suns, if backed into a corner, would even be willing to pull the trigger on a Durant move during this transaction cycle.Much of this will be tied to Butler’s future, Miami’s motives, Beal’s burdensome contract and Durant’s reaction to it all. If the Warriors want to land a big fish in the next few days to pair with Stephen Curry, it appears their best leverage is patience and the looming Feb. 6 deadline. That, of course, comes with risk — the Suns could theoretically find a Beal suitor — and potential missed opportunities, like LaVine. But Dunleavy laid out the team’s motives in his preseason press conference back in October, after he declined to unload the asset cupboard for Utah’s Lauri Markkanen because he felt it would’ve only made sense had the Warriors also added Paul George, who signed with the 76ers instead.“There’s no point in going all-in to be slightly above average,” Dunleavy said."

In their mission to ask about every possible All-Star in the NBA, the Warriors called themselves to make an official inquiry on the availability of Steph Curry.
In the wake of missing out on LaVine, and Butler not wanting to extend, it sounds like we're taking wild swings now (KD+LeBron, Ingram/Zion, Giannis).
With Fox joining San Antonio and Sacaramento sorting out their drama (if they play the rest of the way like they have in the Doug Christie era), we have a very real chance of ending up as the 11th or 12th seed. (silver lining, lottery pick...)
What do you guys think happens next? (Polls disabled here for some reason)
Edit: Sorry guys, didn't realize this would be such an unpopular post. Guess we're mostly feeling kinda down at the moment, just wanted to crowdsource some thoughts on what happens before the deadline.
As a side thought: Based on the org's actions now, I think all of the rhetoric previously about not being desperate (e.g. from Curry/Kerr, etc.) mighta just been posturing / game theory to not give up too much in a potential move. Any move we make now would be from a position of pretty low leverage.
Another year with the same story. Warriors just throwing shit at the wall hoping it somehow sticks. Another year people will call you a negative nancy because you see through their ridiculous trade logic. Putting out headlines that you're trying to pry Kevin Durant and LeBron James after passing up a Zach Lavine trade. That front office is beyond delusional and it happens year after year.
I really though Steph was doing bad in the clutch this season then I saw the stats and he's currently number 11. And not doing terrible at all. https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutch-traditional?PerMode=Totals&dir=A&sort=PTS
Last season he was basically almost shooting 50/46/95 in 43 clutch games. Do you think he is on track to break the top 5 in CPOY standings. Because let's be real we are upping the number of clutch games this year. Which I don't mind, it's better than getting blown out, and when Steph is on in the clutch you aren't getting better cinema
More:
On top of all the talk surrounding LaVine and Butler, the Warriors continued their search for massive moves on the trade market last week, even going as far to calling the Phoenix Suns about Kevin Durant. Multiple sources briefed on the matter told ClutchPoints that the Dubs were serious about their intentions of trading for Durant, which was quickly turned down by the Suns.
...
This however did not stop owner Joe Lacob and the Warriors from dreaming big, as they even contacted the Lakers about LeBron James. When Doncic was traded to Los Angeles, the focus of the league quickly shifted to James and what his immediate future looked like. Many began to speculate that LeBron-Golden State talks were growing, although there were no real trade conversations between the Warriors and Lakers, sources said.
These discussions of James going to the Dubs have quickly vanished, as all indications point in the direction of the legend holding onto his no-trade clause and remaining in Los Angeles, for now.
Where does this leave the Warriors?
Vucevic remains an option, but the Warriors don't necessarily believe adding the veteran center drastically changes their outlook this season. Plus, the Bulls have been adamant on wanting draft compensation from the Golden State, which was one of the holdups when negotiating a trade involving Vucevic and LaVine.
Outside of role players like Bruce Brown, Kelly Olynyk, and John Collins being players the Warriors have held interest in dating back to the offseason, the next best wave of players on the trade block this season include Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and Cam Johnson. It is unknown at this time if Golden State will seriously consider pursuing any of these three bigger names.
Unless the Dubs pursue Ingram, which has been a scenario this front office has discussed, league sources have indicated that Golden State will be making minor moves to potentially move out of the tax.
These are trying times for the Warriors, who have until Thursday afternoon to try and save their season.

Is it the Warriors' turn to strike gold before Thursday's NBA trade deadline?
Can definitely tell he's gained a little weight. He looks ready to drop some pounds though. 🤣🤣🤣
Thought experiment, not saying it's realistically possible but the chances are greater than 0%. Steph, Draymond, and LBJ have this conversation, and agree that it is all of their best path forward.
Draymond is the easy one, he gets not traded if he accepts a bench role for the next two years and a handshake that he will retire and not exercise his prayer option.
LBJ I this is in the middle, he accepts a max for the next two years, then retirement, possibly a player option for the last year to give the possibility of adding other players because he doesn't need money. Bronny comes along for whatever rings happen. His biggest involvement is to do his LeGM thing with the Lakers to make his price manageable.
Steph is the hard one, because this basically means early retirement to get this and two more seasons as competitive years. It's a handshake with LBJ that they go down together. Is it worth it? Can we offer him ownership? Can LBJ offer him ownership in the Vegas expansion team we know he's been offered? At least ownership in the Valkyries?
I think Kerr is going to retire in that same timeline and wouldn't mind putting a set date on it and going for what would at least be an epic farewell tour.
I think our FO, Kerr, and Draymond are over the moon at this. What do you think it takes to get Steph and LBJ on board? And what does the trade look like? Are there enough pieces to make the trade work and give a real shot this year? Once free agency opens I have no doubt a reasonable merc squad could be constructed for the next two years given the star power but this year's competitiveness can't be overlooked.
Look, I know it didn’t end well for him here. But has he been bitten by the “grass isn’t always greener on the other side” bug?
I also don’t think he’s a great fit to help win now, but if we are real, this squad is a long way out from that and if we can’t win, let me have the nostalgia of watching the squad go out together. I think there is a package that could bring him home and let him and Steph ride out together.
Yes, I know I’m dreaming, but a fun hypothetical from someone who legit misses that dude.
mavs was set to be contenders for a decade. this is luka doncic we are talking about, not just some all star, but a generational one.
they are in a win-now and win-in-future scenario and in an instant, they traded their franchise player to an all star that is easily injured and is already 30s
no disrespect to AD, but him and kyrie are unlikely to win a championship. i just don't see it. one injury to either of them and nico harrison's vision instantly collapses. and just like that - the mavs are not in a better place.
spurs got fox while kings got lavine and bulls got some. this one was requested by fox himself.
to put it in perspective, luka got traded without his knowledge, and fox got traded as per his request. mavs in shambles, kings in rebuilding - again.
culture is important to win championships, and the warriors have invested on that. sure, the F.O may had their own fuck-ups but a championship cannot be won without a little help of the organization itself. they paid klay after getting injured, they paid green even after his antics, they paid curry even in his near 40s - this is how they want to thank the core trio.
it's also important to consider that trades are definitely and always consulted with dray and curry. you think these two have no influence over the org? if you think none, ya'll are wrong
a trade not happening only means that curry didn't wanted it and dray too.
Paul George - in year one of a potentially disastrous max deal. Maybe one of the most negative assets in the league right now. Very, very lucky he's not on the GSW roster.
Lauri Markkanen - also took a pretty big step back this year. A couple of bad months away from that contract entering negative territory. Do you think having this version of him would have really helped the Warriors fortunes much this season and beyond the way Steph is aging? Ainge wanted the entire cupboard of draft picks for a #2 or #3 on a contending team.
Zach Lavine 2024 - Not trading for Chris Paul and spare parts for Zach Lavine in the offseason? Yeah no defense here lol. Though in fairness, no one wanted Zach Lavine for free.
Zach Lavine 2025 - They were outbid plain and simple. For a team in the position the Bulls are in, the Warriors didn't have anything as valuable to offer as a high draft pick in this year's loaded class. There is a super high premium on tanking teams controlling their own draft destiny these days. I don't think the Bulls wanted to wait until 2030 or for a possibility of a decent pick from GSW.
Ok that's all I got. Come cope with me, brothers.
Sink
I am genuinely tired. Every single year that has had significant players up for grabs, we never make any moves. I can understand making some moves for stars and they don't work out but making no significant moves year after year and we expect Steph to keep carrying this pathetic ass team.... 2022 was a god send. I am tired of how pathetic the fo has been to Steph. Can't even give him a competent roster or a second scoring option to keep the team competitive. I'm tired boss, I'm tired.
