Daron Holmes declined a workout with the bucks

My gut feeling tells me 23 will be traded tomorrow if none of the bigs fall to us

Why is everyone so quick to jump to trades when the Bucks had the best 5 man lineup in the league according to net rating?

https://www.nba.com/stats/lineups/advanced?SeasonType=Regular%20Season&dir=D&slug=advanced&sort=MIN

5 man lineup of: Lillard, Beasley, Middleton, Antetokounmpo, Lopez (7th most minutes played)

15.1 net rating (best in the league)

122 offensive rating

106.9 defensive rating

Trading Brook is a huge no imo. I understand we ran into a bad matchup for him vs the Pacers but everyone seems to ignore we didn’t have Giannis, not to mention Dame and Khris were injured too. Doc was also still figuring out the teams strengths & weaknesses.

4 man lineup of: Lillard, Middleton, Antetokounmpo, Lopez (677 minutes played together)

16.6 net rating (best in the league at least 400 minutes played)

123.5 offensive rating

106.9 defensive rating

Your Favourite Draft picks we could get?

I know a lot of want us to get Ware, but it seems like our pick is way to low for him. So what do you guys think could be a good pick?

This Draft class i kinda meh, maybe trade away our picks for a player? or for a better pick, idk whats the move.

Pat Connaughton Foundation donates $200,000 to revitalize a Milwaukee basketball court

Idk if anyone else cares about stories like this but I love them. Pat has steady done this type of work ever since he came to Milwaukee. With all the talk about him being traded just thought I'd add to the conversation that while his on court play has declined, the guy has consistently been an incredible asset to the community off the court.

Possible replacements for Beasley

Are the Bucks capable of acquiring KCP, money-wise? He's one of the top SGs this off season. Plus he has won chips before. He would be good next to Dame, because he's not ball-dominant, i.e. he hasn't been in Denver.

Who else could replace Beasley in the starting 5?

Question about Terry Cummings' importance to the Bucks in the 80s and his improvement as a player while with the team

The Bucks traded 2 of their top-3 players in 1984 (Marques Johnson and Junior Bridgeman), right after playing in their second straight ECF, to the Clippers for young star Terry Cummings, plus two other players who became important later. According to this LA Times article, the move was made because a) Johnson was a star whose contract was rapidly escalating and Milwaukee couldn't afford to keep him as a small-market club, and b) they had wanted a PF for years, and they really needed a strong rebounder with starting center Bob Lanier retiring that summer.

The other thing that stands out in the article is the sentiment that Cummings was strong and talented, but he was just learning how to play the game, having more or less "coasted on talent" his first few years with the Clippers. I'm curious how he may have evolved as a player while in Milwaukee. Nothing really changed in his stats that one might associate with him learning how to play the game with more nuance and hoops IQ (assists, turnovers, and shooting %'s all stayed about the same, plus he wasn't fouling less or getting to the FT line more), but obviously those are just stats.

Any thoughts on Terry Cummings' importance to the Bucks during his 5 seasons with the team, particularly in relation to any improvements he may have made or not while in Milwaukee?

Any chance of lu dort?

Was thinking that now that OKC has Caruso they may have less of a need for lu dort. Perhaps we could get him in a trade surrounding Brook Lopez? Chet could use some backup.

Mock trade: bucks get younger, and swap some vets for some younger role players and move down in the draft.

A Blazers fans perspective on possible goals of Bucks mid-level roster reconstruction

As a Blazers fan who's been a lurker on this sub ever since the Dame trade, to me, it seems like you guys need to go all in on getting a core that can better hide Dame's shortcomings on defense, so Dame can then spend more energy where it really matters for him, on offense. If Dame's defensive deficiencies can be better hidden, then not only would it (obviously) improve your team's overall defense, but it would also likely improve Dame's overall shooting splits to what we would expect from his Blazers years.

If you can do that, then, in a perfect world, you'll get the best version of Dame on offense, while at the same time hiding and minimizing the worst aspects of his defense in a way that keeps him fresh for the offensive end of the court.

Of course, I have no clue what player moves would need to be done to make such a roster, but regardless how to roster construction goes, the key has got to build a rostwe around hiding Dame's D. If this is accomplished, the offense should already be in really good shape.

What do you guys think? Am I onto something, or am I completely off the rails? Lol

Bobby knew

People need to stop being angry about even Jrue's former teammates recognizing that this wouldn't end well if Jrue ended up with Boston. The narrative amongst fans seems to be those that don't watch games aren't allowed to comment about their opinions. Both can be true, you can like Dame and hope that Jrie doesn't come back to haunt the team or other teams in the East.

Possible Returns for Brook

If we were to trade Brook as some rumors are suggesting (from Windhorst, Jake Fisher, and KOC), I assume what we would need back would be:

At or Under $23.0m in Salary
Bucks are over the second apron as of now so they cannot aggregate salaries and cannot take back a dollar more.

Currently Under Contract
Because of the second apron, the Bucks can't sign and trade players or sign free agents.

29 or Under
The Bucks are an old team and if you're trading a valuable asset like Brook I assume you do that to get younger. I still set the bar a little high here because a win-now team should still value experience so this is really 'Giannis' age or under'.

Point of Attack Defender
The glaring need this season was a defender to take big assignments.

Non-Zero on Offense
With Dame, Giannis, and Khris, there isn't necessarily a need for a creator, but you need a player who can knock down open shots, space the floor, and keep the ball moving.

So, with all that said, here is a list of names that (seemingly) check those boxes:

  • Herb Jones ($12.9m)

  • Bruce Brown ($23.0m)

  • Josh Hart ($18.1m)

  • Dean Wade ($6.1m)

  • Quentin Grimes ($4.2m)

  • Aaron Nesmith ($11m)

  • Grant Williams ($13m)

  • Caleb Martin ($7.1m / Player Option)

  • Jonathon Isaac ($17.4m)

  • Deni Avdija ($15.6m)

  • Lu Dort ($16.5m)

  • Matisse Thybulle ($11m)

  • Jonathon Kuminga ($7.6m)

  • Terance Mann ($11.4m)

  • Rui Hachimura ($17m)

  • PJ Washington ($15.5m)

  • Dillon Brooks ($22.2m)

  • Brandon Clarke ($12.5m)

  • Keldon Johnson ($19m)

  • Keon Ellis ($2.1m)

A lot of these names aren't available, a lot of them are not nearly enough to trade Brook for, but I was curious to see who is even in the pool of available players. Feel free to add any more you think of, this was my quick filtering on Spotrac.

No clue what Mitchell's price is.

Didn't add picks because have zero clue what player value is. Just makes sense cap wise.

Bucks are a top 3 team at worst

Everything else is noise. If the bucks are healthy they were a top 3 team period. Our problem hasn't been staffing or coaching ... Maybe conditioning ... But the last few post seasons a key piece has been injured. Gianni's or khris. If they can stay healthy post season, I love our odds at getting another chip.
