It just hit me-Luka not being able to sign a super max means LA will be able to build around him better than Dallas would have and better than other teams that have to super max extend their young stars in the near future (eg OKC w/ SGA). Am I wrong?

His salary won't be as high so it won't take as much of the cap space or at least that's my understanding. Or will LA have to sign him to a new deal that's basically the same amount?

[Charania] Jimmy Butler has made it abundantly clear to all teams inquiring for his services that the only team he would stay with long term is with the Phoenix Suns.

Looking for Advice

Suns fans, looking for advice.

My wife and I are heading to Phoenix for next week for a much needed vacation. She has been a champ lately, and even though she is very pregnant and it is her birthday, she insisted on wanting to go to the Suns game next Friday (2/7 vs Jazz).

I got us some upper-deck tickets and she booked a dinner for the two of us, but the other night, I caught her buying me a KD Suns shirt for the game. I would LOVE a KD Suns shirt, and she knows that. Anyway, I want to do something special for her, so I was wondering if any of you had some advice on how to one-up her and make her feel more special than that shit she is trying to pull on HER birthday.

I have some ideas, but I would love some advice from Suns fans to see if there is anything they know of that I don't.

Regardless if we get jimmy or not (I think we will) we should hold on to Nurk for the rest of the season. Why? So we can trade him for Lonzo Ball in the offseason

Currently Lonzo ball makes more money than Nurk so we can't trade for him. But his contract is expiring. It is very unlikely he will get more money than Nurks contract this offseason because of the injury history and because he's playing 21 minutes per game on a now clearly tanking Bulls team.

Lonzo seems to be back to playing consistently and is fully healthy and is back to being a dynamic player.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYwAa6eDFL0

in 29 games for a 21 and 29 bulls team Lonzo has a +4.2 net rating. He has a Box Plus/Minus of 2.4 with both the OBPM and the DBPM being positive. He will be 28 next season.

He's a big PG who is a good defender. He will push the pace and make the suns fast and fun. He takes care of the ball. And he's a great rebounder for a guard.

Why do the bulls do this? As previously mentioned the Bulls are in tank mode now. We can get them to sign and trade Lonzo to a long term (4-5 year contract) which Lonzo will want because the uncertainty of his injury history and the bulls will do because Nurk is an expiring tank commander. Plus we will give them our 2025 draft pick on draft night.

Lonzo Ball, Booker, KD, Jimmy, Richards would be an incredibly Big Lineup that is good defensively.

Then you have Allen, Royce, and Dunn off the bench. Backup PG and center are TBD for next season. But those 8 make an incredible 8 man lineup

"Blow it Up" - What the Suns future will look like post Book/KD ear.

I don't embrace the doom often but I'm kinda getting a clear picture of what doom is. I've been pretty confident that the Suns won't bottom out, but what will could happen is that the Suns won't get past the Luka lead Lakers and (Fox/Wemby) Spurs. People talk about morgaging the future for a chance at the championship as if we won't be good anymore, but what we did definitely do is lock ourselves in for some devestation playoff losses against arguably public enemy number 1 and 2.

I don't agree with blowing it up but it's clear that if we don't win now, as Suns fans we are in for it in the coming years.

Lakers need a center after this trade... Does Rui Hachimura ($17M) for Nurkic ($18.13) plus a first work? :-)

Who knows what the Lakers FO is thinking right now... With the 2nd apron restrictions, we can only send one player out for another, but can add picks to sweeten the trade... Rui is 6'8" and can play both forward spots and is averaging 12.7ppg with 5.1 RPG... Doesn't solve our rebounding problem but adds a playable player with size on the wings... Just thinking if it would work so we won't have an unplayable player on the bench making 18 Million this year...

Book, Beal, Rui, KD and Richards looks like a decent starting 5...

Seriously, how have we not traded Nurk yet?

Clearly he isn’t getting on the court anytime soon, and we really need another forward that can play defense that has some size. We have three first rounders and a second to use in a trade. His value isn’t getting any better if we play him or don’t play him. We can’t stand pat either. The next question would be, will Bud play said new guy? If we are going to make a push, the dead weight needs to be dropped and new energy needs to be injected.

Why not just trade KD if the markets gonna be like this?

Not even hating on KD but if that dumbass will give away white MJ for 32 year old AD there’s gotta be someone else half as dumb.
