Does it just correspond to the dry season and rainy season? I’m going in late November, will the hills be lush?
Anyone have any problems filling out the online entry form that's supposed to be filled out before checking in for the flight? My girlfriend and I both can't get it to accept our phone numbers and we can't get in touch with anyone to figure out why. Anyone have suggestions?
Going to the island in a couple weeks, I was looking into a couple restaurants to make reservations for dinner and noticed that Le Olivier and Le Bistronome are listed as closed on Google maps. Does anyone know if they're just closed for the season or permanently closed?
My wife is currently in France on business and also has a small bank account there. Would it be any benefit for her to bring back some Euros for our December trip to SXM?
Staying in orient bay for NYE- any unique or particularly good NYE bashes to attend?
Hi SXM Friends!
I have a short trip planned W-S of next week. I’m thinking about canceling due to weather. Is anyone there now or been there when it’s like this? Is the rain usually short, still worth it to go? I don’t want to be stuck on the hotel all day.
Thanks for any advice.
I wanted to take my parents on a trip as they've never been to the Caribbean and my mom likes the idea of Saint Martin as she is European herself and they always travel to Europe when outside of the US. I've been trying to get them to come on a tropical vacation with me and they're finally ready to give it a chance.
My only concern is what I've read throughout this sub from water/power outages. I've never experienced that at any island but I'd be OK with it, but I can kind of already hear my dad bitching lol
I found some beautiful Air BnBs on both sides of the island I want to suggest to them but how often would you say you're inconvenienced by the water/power?
I really want this to be a turn-key beautiful experience for them (beaches, restaurants, great accomodations).
Planning on February when water temps are the highest.
Thanks!!
Hey Reddit! I’m looking to propose to my girlfriend on an upcoming trip from Nov 23 - Dec 2nd and I’m looking for the most romantic beach spot or any excursion, restaurant etc. you guys can think of.
Appreciate it!
Hypothetically, if I was visiting SXM for a week and was planning to do a day trip to St Barth from SXM via plane in the middle of the visit, how do I fill out the new entry form? I assume once in advance of arrival from North America and then again for return from SBH?
What if I went by ferry? Or flew from Grand Case Airport? Any difference in procedure?
Thanks everyone.
Is either area better for nightlife and more walkable? Plan on renting a car but also plan on drinking at night and rather be walking distance to my hotel
What do people in the age group 30-60 use for dating apps on SXM? Thx
I'm heading to SXM solo in February and love the freedom of having a rental car, but honestly, I'd prefer to rent a motorcycle or ATV instead. Is it possible to rent one for a few days? Most of what I find are guided ATV tours, but I'd rather explore the island on my own. If I do rent an ATV, can I ride it freely around the island and park it where you would a car without any issues? Open to any suggestions!
Hello!
Does anyone have an update on how the construction/renovations at Grand Case Beach Club are going? The website says they should be done with demolition and on to construction by now, with full completion by December 18.
Any update is appreciated.
Thanks!
Do you recommend SXM for this, or should we pick another spot? We are 3 American guys in their 30s. Thanks
Visiting the farms this Saturday 10/26 and wondering if a pass/ permit is needed for Pic Paradise? I’ve only come across the restaurant and other activities which require reservations there. Thanks!
My family loves gin and soda. How much does a bottle of soda water cost on the island? Are there store brands that are cheaper?
Wondering if there is anywhere artists sell their work on the street or parks or markets on the Island or if that is not something typical in SXM? We like to buy when we travel but I can't seem to find any info on SXM specific
Are any of the problems in Martinique spilling over to SXM (French side)? I haven't read about it, but don't know why not. How are they different, is it all attributable to more tourism? Are local food prices better in SXM? Does France treat them differently? Je ne comprends pas.
Hi! I am planning a trip to SXM the second week of December and wanted to get any recommendations or opinions on what to do! We are looking at staying at the Morgan and renting a car so we can explore the entire island. Should we book a car rental online ahead of time or would we get a better rate booking in person or on the phone? Is there a "better" car rental place or more reliable place or are all the same (eg. ace, hardys etc.) We would also like to do an excursion or two, looking to go to anguilla for the day, visit pinel island or go on a boat tour for snorkeling. Would love to get any tour recommendations for what i mentioned or anything else that is a must do! Also, would I be able to book tours while I am there or must I book in advance? for ex. I was looking into a captain alan excursion but I don't want to lock in a plan so early, I would much rather book once we arrive so we can take into account the weather or anything else we want to do. Is that an option? Lastly, we would love to get any recommendations for the best food places/ bakery places that we should try, I am so excited for the food I've heard it is great. I greatly appreciate anyone who can help answer these questions, please feel free to suggest anything else or share any info!!
Planning on two trips this year, November and either March or April. I have a couple questions for the community. First is about the airport, has anyone visited recently? It looks like the airport is officially done with the repairs according to the website. Last time I was on the island I had to wait outdoors for passport control which was a big annoyance. Did they finally finish repairing the arrivals area? Also I wanted to ask if anyone knows any information on Club O. Their website hasn't been updated in a while. Is there any information on the reopening of the resort?
Have had bad experiences with the last 2. Property sits empty now. It's a studio near UAC in a gated community.
A couple of buddies and I are planning a bachelor party for a friend. Destination- St Maarten. Trying to get a hotel or resort near night life. Any suggestions?
We are so excited to be going back to the best island! Staying in Orient village and spending as much time as possible on Orient beach! Anyone going to be there from this sub? We love meeting new people!!!! Have a great weekend everyone!
We are booked to come end of march with 4 kids .. 14,13,11 and an infant. Based on this map - which would be the best location to stay? We’ll have a car. With teens , not loving the nude beach thoughts but maybe it’s avoidable enough???
Does anyone know of any rock climbing in Saint Martin/Singapore Maarten?
hi all! my friend and i (both 25F) are possibly traveling to st maarten/ st martin end of november. i was curious to know if yall knew any nice resorts that are walking distance from clubs or restaurants in the area. don’t plan on renting a car so walking/taxis are our best options. thank you in advance!
I'm planning a Caribbean trip for sometime Jan-Mar and St. Martin seems like the perfect spot, but I know it gets crowded during peak season. We're open to staying on either side of the island and mostly interested in beaches and outdoor adventure/hiking stuff.
Any spots that should be a little quieter? Or is it so jam-packed that we should rethink?
Whats the status of the entry form? I read it needs to be done digitally now but can't get the site to populate anything. Any info?
Here for my wife’s 40th birthday. Staying near KKO beach, but they are closed this week. Any fun things to do near by? We went to Perch yesterday and had a good time.
