Hey guys,
I was just wondering, what does Christmas Day look like on the island? As in, what should I expect closed (restaurants, grocery, etc.)? Any activities that are recommended aside from lounging around with the family? I’m not really expecting to be able to go anywhere, but we do get in that morning and some groceries are going to be much needed. Thanks in advance.
Edit: I found my answers, always search first 🤦♂️
Or was it run off during Covid?
Hi everyone, I tried calling the resort, using WhatsApp, contacting Hilton, you name it for over 3 months to see if I could order a gift to be delivered for a birthday surprise but no success. So now I'm hoping to find a local business that can deliver something, anybody have any ideas? Thanks!!!
Me 24m and my gf 23F are staying near mambo beach. Looking for any recommendations near here. Bars to go out to at night, Other cool spots besides mambo, places to eat (preferably good deals for the price) or just anything else you can think of. Willing to spend money to do fun stuff just don’t want to eat out every single night is all! Any recommendations are appreciated it. Also don’t have a car at the moment so looking mostly just around the area but may take taxi or rent a car if something peaks our interest. Thank you!
We are traveling in February, and one of our family members has health issues. Would there be mosquito nets available by default in all this resort?
Thanks for the information!
So, I will be traveling with a toddler (3 year old) , a baby under 1 and my husband. Going to stay at an air b&b at blue bay for 1.5 weeks but also looking to stay somewhere else to split up our stay and explore the island (will also rent a car) In between Avila beach and the Royal sea aquarium. (Picked these as they offer a kitchen/ separate bedrooms)
What one is nicer in regards to beach and close walk to town? We do want to explore. how about water sports?
TIA
Long story. Can only travel sept Oct or November. What would be the best month to stay. Looking for dry weather and limited bugs as I will be travelling with a baby. TIA!
Traveling with a 8 month old and 3 year old. Best hotels that cater to toddlers (calm beach/ maybe play area/ either AI or breakfast included. Bonus points if the room has an inclosed bedroom, walking distance into the city to do exploring/ kitchen in room
TIA!
I am an Indian MBBS doctor and want to move to Curacao after completing my MD medicine.
I want to know is this a right decision? Your experiences in curacao and a general view of Indians in curacao. Incomes and expenses?
Made the mistake of bringing an old snorkel and mask. Where is the best place to buy a good snorkel and mask in curaçao without having to mortgage the house for it?
Looking for some where on the island to buy patio furniture. Anyone have any recommendations?
Is distilled water available at most markets? We need some for a CPAP machine. I also saw somewhere that it wasn't necessary because the water was desalinized, is this accurate?
This is going to be an odd request and have a feeling the answer might be no… but is there anywhere anyone knows of where I can go to take tests while in curacao? I have my laptop but would benefit from having a place to work not in the Airbnb and with possible a 2nd monitor. Is there any space like that I might have some luck finding?
Looking for leads on a single day car rental. I can only find minimum 3 day rentals. Thank you!
We just booked the rif for later next month and wondering: if there is any good things to know before traveling to Curaçao? Also wondering if there is any suggested travel excursions that are must do?
Only there for three nights! TIA!
A while ago, there was a question about reliable tax advice for expats on Curacao & someone recommended a contact person at Grant Thornton. I’ve scrolled and scrolled, but can’t find it again.
Anyone know where we can get an appointment for reliable advice? There or elsewhere? I’m looking for a person to address, as our general inquiries to HBN, Grant Thorton, etc. get no answer or only an automated response with no follow-up.
Any hints on how to navigate this office culture are appreciated as well. I get it—things are different here: I’m all in with poko poko—but seriously, it seems every professional we have to deal with is distant and difficult. They sit literally behind locked doors. Can they really be so busy they disdain new business? Is it like hazing or something? Do you already have to be “in” before they let you in? The rest of the island is hustling and friendly and helpful, meanwhile it is easier to see the Pope than a Notary.
Yes, I am complaining, but my question is real: what am I missing about this? I want to understand.
Thanks in advance.
Places we must eat at in Willemstad?
Hi everyone,
My partner and I are staying in Curacao and rented a car for our stay from one of the local car rental companies. While driving we damaged the front bumper and a piece of it has come off (there was no other vehicle, this was an accident in a parking lot).
We did get the CDW and TP insurance and provided the company with a $500 deposit. We’re returning the car in a couple of days. Does anyone have any tips as to what to expect when returning the car? Our concern is that we’ll have to cover the damage to the vehicle despite the insurance.
Any recommendations for breakfast near mambo beach or Willemstad?

My partner and I are heading to Curaçao for 2 weeks with our kids. Is it acceptable to bring a pop up tent to the beach with us, or is it expected to rent the beach chairs there ? Thanks !
Hi! Myself and a group of about 4-6 people are going on a cruise the end of January and we will be docked in Willemstad for about 10 hours. Can you give me suggestions on things to do in the area? We would prefer free activities but are willing to consider other options depending on prices. We have never been so any other tips about the area/locals would be great!
Hi there! I looked through searches but didn't quite find what I was looking for. Has anyone found a great place to stay that has access to really great snorkeling that isn't a resort/all inclusive? My husband and I really love snorkeling in the mornings/at night and would love to stay somewhere with direct access to a great reef that we don't have to drive to, though we would be renting a car. In our past travels other places we have stayed at a more eco lodge/nature surrounded/rustic type place. Thanks in advance! Looking to go beginning-mid January of 2025 :D
I'm looking to go to Curacao for a quick get away, and definitely want the freedom that a car rental gives you. Which car rental service do you recommend at the airport?
Also, I saw that the rental companies arent attached to the airport. What is the best way to get to the car rental shops? Do they have shuttles that run from the airport to the rental area?
Headline says everything :) Friends of mine will rent my house for the first January week and are planning to seal the deal, slap rings at each other and call it a day.... legally! And Binding!
No big ceremony but they want to elope. I am a little lost. Do you guys have any idea? Cheers!
