Connecting flight question

I am landing in Barbados at 2:30pm and I have a connecting flight to st Vincent at 4:10pm.

The airline I’m landing in BGI with is AirCanada and the airport I’m leaving BGI with is Virgin Atlantic to SVD.

What is the procedure after getting off aircanada. Haven’t been to BGI in a while. Also, would there be enough time to collect my checked bags n make it to my connecting flight ?

Grocery shortages

Hi Everyone!

I'm currently in Barbados and just visited the Massy's in St James. They were sold out of many staple products (cows milk, onions, chicken breast, etc.).

Does this happen frequently, or only occasionally? Does this happen at all grocery stores or only the one I visited? How often are the shelves restocked?

Do you drink tap water?

I'm a Bajan living overseas for the past 5+ years. Prior to leaving, I would drink tap water happily. However every time I have visited Barbados recently, the tap water seems to have a strong taste of bleach and I end up buying bottled water during my stay.

Do most bajans still drink tap water? Or do you buy water instead?

Looking for folks to split a fishing charter with! (First week June)

Hey all!

The wife and I are planning a trip to the island the first week of June '25 and are looking for 2 more people to split a 6 hour offshore fishing charter with. Locals or anyone who stumbles across this post planning on staying at Sandals is welcome to reach out!

Should be about $750 USD total, so split two ways. Probably leaving from the Bridgetown marina.

Barbados has a night rider problem.

As I write this, it is 2am in the morning and I have been awaken not for the first time by the screaming noise of high powered motorcycles racing up and down Tom Adams Highway. This has become a regular nightly occurrence and with cars also. It wakes up families and is a real public nuisance that the police are unaware of or incapable of dealing with.

Shabbat in Barbados

I’ll be in Barbados this week and would love to connect with the local Jewish community—perhaps for a Shabbat meal. Does anyone know how I can get in touch or have suggestions for reaching out?

Staying in Worthing

I’m visiting Barbados from December 2-23 and staying in Worthing (across from the Esso and Cave Shepherd). For context, I was born in Barbados but live in Canada now.

  1. How much can I expect in taxi fare from the airport to Worthing? The Airbnb recommended a driver and he’s quoting $40 USD which seems high. It’s been a while since I’ve come down solo and last year I came with a big group for Crop Over so I don’t have a recent point of reference on pricing for a regular vehicle.

  2. Where can I get good fish cakes within walking distance of where I’m staying? I know Oistins is the place to go but when the craving hits, and it hits often, I don’t want to jump on a bus.

  3. Are sea side grapes still in season? Please say yes.

  4. Any recommendations for local food/restaurants within walking distance? I don’t need fancy or beach front. Worthing Food Court is good but I’m thinking meals like chicken and macaroni pie, pelau or cook up, fish cutters, etc. Looking for random spots with some belly rubbing good food.

  5. Any Guyanese restaurants? I know, I know, I’m in a Barbados sub but my parents are from Guyana and I wouldn’t mind some chicken curry…

Thank you for any and all help!
