US citizen here, live in the northwest. I use cannabis edibles (thc) recreationally here, but I do medicinally rely on them to aid with my anxiety and help me fall asleep. Looking to travel to St Thomas and St John this month last minute, and wondering if anyone has traveled with a low dose edible supply? (In their carryon.)
Whereas it’s not another country in the sense of being Russia, Turks, etc.. I didn’t know the read on others that may have more knowledge.
I work for a roofing company in Idaho. Yesterday we had a man reach out about us supplying him with 200 metal panels. They aren’t too big 2ft X 3ft. Nothing out of the ordinary, so we tracked them down and gave him a price.
This morning he emailed me back and wants to move forward… But I am to figure out how to ship them to somewhere in St. Thomas. Anyone have any recommendations on how I can do this? Being in Idaho I’m not sure how or where I can get them dropped off somewhere that has the capability of getting them there. Any help would be appreciated. If I can figure it out I’d love to help this guy. However, if it’s a pain in the ass I will probably decline and wish him the best.
Hi everyone! I’m taking a trip to VI soon, and I was wondering if there are some bars or clubs near the ferry station in Red Hook that are specifically for dancing? My friends and I love to dance, and we definitely want to be able to go to some fun places on a night out!
Happy Holidays! We are looking to gift our children (teens and tweens) a trip to St John this Christmas. We've been once, and looking to return and explore more. We are not an All Inclusive fam, and it fits the bill. The villa we are looking at renting is only available for 6 nights, but I'd love to tack on a night for a full week. In your experience, would you advise we add a night on the way IN, and stay on St Thomas? Or, add a night on the way out? On the way to the island is what I am leaning towards, as our flight wouldn't land until 4 PM, and we'll likely be hangry and tired! I'd love suggestions for where to stay for a quick night on St Thomas before we head to St John. Maybe something kid friendly and resort- esque?
A few other questions if you have feedback:
We traveled in March previously, and the weather was perfect. Would the end of January feel much different? We are hoping to bring food to the villa this go around, as we quickly realized the cost of food on the island. Any tips on doing this w/ a rental car on either island, or in general?
Has anyone done the route from PVD to STT, and have feedback? We are closer to Boston, but Logan is more of a hassle than PVD, and I'd have a connection from BOS anyhow, so why not just do PVD was my thought. Parking, traffic, navigating the airport, its all so much easier that the extra 30 minute drive may be worth it. Is a short or long layover in SJU advisable? If its 2-3 hrs, would we be able to head out for a meal?
Thank you all so much, I truly appreciate any help so I can make this happen!
Hello! I'll be in St Thomas for 4 days starting next week. Huge fan of street food when I travel.
Last time I went there was an awesome chicken place downtown along Veterans highway. And a place to get Pate' near brewers bay. Are those still things?
Anywhere else?
Tia!
I will be visiting St. Thomas next week and have just been offered a virtual interview for a job I really want on December 3, while I'll be on the island. No option to reschedule to a different date. For those curious, the position is with my local animal shelter with which I have volunteered for several years.
Any suggestions on where wifi would be fast and reliable enough to count on it for this interview? I'm totally willing to pay to use it if I have to, so if the best wifi is in hotels where I'd need to book a room, as opposed to free wifi at a coffee shop, I'd be totally willing to do that. I'd be willing to pay to use the WiFi at any business really as long as it's fast and reliable and they have a space available where I could do a video interview (no longer than an hour, likely less).
I booked this trip months ago and very much would not like to cancel just for an interview if I can avoid it so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I will be working from USVI. I found one coworking spot called seat Caribbean in St. Thomas. Are there any in St. John? Are there any cafes I can work from in St John?
I know there are frequent power outages, and I want a back up plan in case the Wi-Fi goes down where I’m staying. Also I don’t want to work from my Airbnb all day, I’d like to go outside. And more specifically in St. John the place I’m staying doesn’t have a generator and I can’t afford other places as a solo traveler. I’m more concerned about St. John, as I heard their outages are worse than Stt.
I was also thinking of getting a portable Wi-Fi. Has anyone ever used one on the islands and if so, which provider did you get? I’m nervous about getting a random portable Wi-Fi that won’t work there. St John is my biggest concern
US Family of 3 w/ a 9yo kiddo, looking at the USVI in April. We have done Florida the past 4 years and wanted to try something different. We are pretty active, enjoy hikes, seeing sites, and snorkeling. I do scuba, though I might only go once, if even do that. We try to avoid touristy things and crowds. We are currently eyeing St. John as it seems to match more of what we like, though at the same time don't want to discount St. Thomas. As we have a one kiddo, we would like some place to stay where families also go so she has a better chance to find a kiddo to play with at the beach or at the pool. Any suggestions at some places to stay on either of these Islands? We like the idea of St. John, though wonder if it will be to isolated/remore. If we want to relax on the pool or the beach, we have a better chance of relaxing if she has a friend, else she will look to us to entertain her. Thanks in advance!
Even with the high crime rates looks like it's still safe to travel to the VI in 2025
Flying in to beef island and taking a ferry to jost on new years eve. Im staying with my aunt and uncle on their oyster. Ive heard soggy dollar and foxys are good spots but curious if theres anywhere else worth checking out. Thanks!
Do taxis generally run here? I usually took the safaris last time I was in USVI but imagine they are less reliable up there. I took one to Brewers Bay, Saphire beach, etc.
Is this beach worth it? And the hike? If not, what's more accessible that you enjoy?
Tia!
What's going on in St. Thomas for NYE?
There doesn't seem to be a functioning website for St. John - St. Thomas USVI police department http://vipd.gov.vi/ (warning that it's unsafe to visit in my chrome browser) - any idea where the crime stats are published (if at all) for 2024?
Hey Community. I’m looking to move the USVI as soon as possible I’m 21 with a couple thousand in my savings. My family was a native but decided to move into the states. I have been there before and absolutely fell in love. I’m ready to live away from my family and start my own life now. Please let me know if this a good idea I was literally dragged in another sub due to my lack in understanding where to go. In terms of work opportunity, housing affordability and safety, where would be the best place to go? Thanks y’all!
Hello, I am visiting St john in january for 2 weeks and we are looking at using a car rental that does not offer insurance. The only place Ive found that claims to cover it is rentalcover, but their site specifically says it does not cover driving on unpaved roads. Does anyone know if I would be covered in st john, or have a suggestion for where to get insurance? My credit cards and current auto insurance do not offer coverage.
My wife and I are here and looking to find a place to watch the fight and have some fun!
I am realizing how expensive things are in Stt and Stj lol! Because of this I am thinking of only renting a car in Stj for their minimum which I think is 3 days over a weekend.
I am staying in Stj for 8 nights near Cruz bay and will be wfh from there so I thought I wouldn’t need a car during the week, and will rent Sat - Mon (the weekend I arrive). And then use taxis for the last day I’m there (which is the next Saturday, as I’m checking out Sunday to head back to Stt). Is this feasible? Any recommended taxi companies and how much are they approximately?
Edit: And in terms of Sjj car rental, are there any that don’t have a minimum period? I actually am seeing many have a 5 day minimum. Unfortunately courtesy is booked my dates
I’m looking to bring a cannabis cartridge with me to the BVI but none of my family is aware i smoke so what’s a discreet way to bring it with me from Canada? New to flying so carry on and after check bag doesn’t really make sense to me😅
Have visited USVI many times always staying in St Thomas and doing a day or two on St John as well as a day trip to Jost Van Dyke.
I’ve never visited Tortola or Virgin Gorda - is it worth a day trip or does the travel time just make more sense to stay on St. Thomas/St. John?
Basically, is there enough uniqueness about them to justify the ferry time?
Thank you!
Single father looking to move to the Virgin Islands with my two daughters ages 15 and 16. What are the public schools like? How is the crime? What is the best island to live on? Is it safe for young women? What's your adviced?
So first time visitor, which island?
Girlfriend says only requirement is a beach to lay on and a manservant to bring her drinks. I got the manservant part covered but where’s the best place to go?
Hello! My boyfriend and I are coming to St. John for the first time December 31-January 7. I'm having a really hard time figuring out which side of the island to stay on. Here's some details that will help
- We like good food but we're definitely not intersted in shopping or partying
- Our goals for this trip are to check out as many of the beautiful beaches we can, snorkel, hike, relax, and maybe learn a little island history
- We'll have a jeep and don't mind some driving, however, we don't want to spend hours in the car just tryiing to get food and go to beaches
-Can't spend more than $3k on lodging for the week. Closer to $2500 is better. I see that there's options in my price range on both sides of the island but didn't know if one side is for sure always a better value/"bang for our buck"
Self explanatory. Haven’t selected place to stay yet but I see the island is only 15 miles wide.
I am looking to take my kids on vacation in April and would love to take them to Virgin Islands. I'm looking into St. Thomas. Any recommendations on kid friendly resorts or Air Bnbs in a great location?
Last time we were in St. John it was 2007 and before that 2001. Coming back in 2025. We know the hurricane changed a lot, curious about what restaurants are still there. Paradiso, Château Bourdeaux, are gone right? Does the original owner have any other restaurants on island anymore? I see some of the favorites are still there, La tapa, beach bar, Woody’s. Oh and Morgan Mango. Lime Inn, looks like they only do tacos now? Thanks!
Hello, I will be visiting the BVI for a 2 week boat charter in March. I will be 17 at the time and am curious to know how strict restaurants are about the 18yo limit.
I’d like to stay on all three islands during the months of February March and half of April. I’ll be working remotely. How long would one recommend on staying on each island? I was thinking about 3 weeks for each island or maybe 3/3/2. Would that be too long/ will I get bored? I’m looking forward to the beach, snorkeling/other water activities, eating. Not into nightlife.
Also when looking for airbnbs, are there any areas of the islands I should stay away from? I am a small solo female traveler.
What is cheapest airport with direct flights to US Virgin Islands. Planning a trip there and we really don’t want to spend all day flying. So plan is to fly to that city day before and take an overnight and then finish journey.
