Is there any website or place I can find laws regarding flying paramotors to, in, and around Saba?
Hello, I was wondering if there are any record setting trees on Saba such as largest tree or oldest or tallest tree known on the islands? Maybe there's atleast a largest known of a certain species like Saba's largest coconut palm or Saba's largest Manchineel tree.
Hello Saba!
My wife and I are planning to visit Saba in late August. We will be taking a ferry from Sint Maarten, but I'm still not sure if we need to pre-book the tickets online before we leave, or if we can wait and vook when we arrive in Sint Maarten about three days before deparure. We will stay from 27th to 30th of August, and all tips if what to do (and also what not to do) will be highly appreciated!
I have also been thinking if we should do a day trip to St. Eustatius. Woild tvis be worth it, or would it just be "a waste of money"? I mean, if Saba's more interesting we might spend all our days there.
Thanks a lot!
Hi everyone, I'd like to get a postcard from the Saba Island, and I'm wondering if someone knows about an online store that I could get it or even better, if someone living there would be kind enough to get in contact and send me one. =)
Hello everyone! I looking into a job based in Saba and I'm exploring my housing options. I'm interested in renting a place for about a year, but so far, I've mostly found short-term stays like Airbnb or hotels online. Does anyone have experience with long-term rentals in Saba? Any advice or information on how to secure a year-long lease would be greatly appreciated. Also any advice on cost of living (rent, food, internet) for two adults. Thanks in advance for your help!
Is there an subreddit for sint eustatius? I have an picture of which i need to know the location.
Thanks,
Hello, I was wondering if any of you could help us. So we live in a European country (not NL), a big cosmopolitan city. I am white, my husband is black and from an African country, our kids are biracial and EU citizens like me. Frankly, it has become unbearable to live here, our kids are young and experience racism daily, we can’t go out much together anymore as a family cause it’s just not too safe… and things are getting worse. We keep trying to find a place where we could maybe have more peace and we found your beautiful island and were wondering if it is super hard for us to relocate since my husband isn’t an EU citizen? Our kids speak English and two other languages, but not Dutch, I don’t speak Dutch either, my husband speaks many languages but Dutch only on A2 Level. I am a clinical psychologist, specialized in children/youth (especially adhd and autism), gerontology (mostly dementia etc) and trauma. My husband used to have a NGO for women’s rights and children in his home country together with a football academy and used to be the restaurant and bar manager at Sheraton hotel and now works in our best hotel as a receptionist. our older kid is 4, the younger one half a year. Yesterday someone spit into the stroller of the half year old and… I just can’t anymore to be honest. We need to find a better place for them. Financially we have about 100.000 € in savings. Do you guys think we would have a chance to relocate to your island and become members of your community? Thanks in advance
Hello everyone - in 10 days I will be taking a side trip to Saba for two days. Staying at Queen's Hotel, plan to do some hiking, and overall just want to have a relaxing casual time. Any other suggestions on food / coffee / things to do?
Hello, Sabans!
I (M 20) am an American from Colorado studying at uni in Canada. Since I've always lived in relatively cold climates away from the ocean, and because the island generally seems delightful, visiting Saba has been one of the top items on my bucket list for around four years. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to get there from where I live (21–48hr travelling time). I've read about the island online, but I wanted to hear from the locals. For when I eventually do make it to Saba, what should I do and see? I like travelling at a slow pace so I would probably want to stay at least a week, but hopefully two. Would this be alright in Saba? Also, what is life like in Saba overall? Is it as expensive as I've read? Is there a lot to do? Is there anything I should know?
Thank you!!
Hello everyone I am looking for recipes from Saba. I found an article that gave an outline of staple foods on Saba and one of the foods is goat curry. I found some generic recipes but is their anything you feel is unique to the goat curryof Saba? Or do you have other recipes that you would like to share. I see that breadfruit is popular on the island, but are their other staple starches? I don't have access to breadfruit. Thank you for any help.
Hello, I'm wondering how realistic is it to migrate to Saba for say 6 or 12 months and work there. Personally, I'm Dutch and I've been living in a place with a similar amount of inhabitants as Saba. (1) Is it realistic to get a job there as an outsider from the Netherlands? Saba is known for their medical university, does this imply I can expect many medical job positions? What kind of jobs can I generally expect, and (2) is it realistic to cover all living costs with the wages as a "foreigner" (I'm aware I'm technically not a foreigner)?
what sim cards work best on the island?
Hello everyone! I’m from Germany and just found out about this island a few days ago. Even though I read many articles and saw many videos I still couldn’t find an answer regarding how you get your water for thinks like the toilet, the dishwasher, washing machine etc.. I only could find that you have some sort of water pumping system that allows you to have access to drinking water. Actually I am also curious how you get your drinking water. Do you have to buy it in a store or is it more similar to Germany where everyone has access to free drinking water?
hello! i am collecting postcards from different countries/ territories. so far i have received around 500 postcards from 163 different countries/ territories, but no Saba so far. would anyone be interested in exchanging postcards with me?
Hello all, My wife and I will be visiting in May. We will be staying near the windward side village. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips on Food, Hikes, Dive shops? Best way to get around? Best way to get to island?
Thank you for any info. It all helps.
Hi, my friend is older in 60s and possibly thinking of moving to Saba for retirement.
Do people have pets, particularly cats, on the island?
Is there a vet, and are pet supplies available?
My partner and I are sick of the overcommercialized mess than Christmas has turned into here at home, and were thinking of traveling for a week or two at the end of December. We both like nature and hiking, so Saba may be the place we're looking for.
We have a few questions though:
Hi Sabians, I’m planning to travel to Saba next February for 2 weeks to enjoy nature above and below the water.
Looking for places to stay, I found some options on Booking.com and one or two Airbnb’s. But are there any other small, simple (and quirky) places to investigate?
Looking for small & simple hideaways, preferably with kitchen(ette) to prepare some food sometimes. No need for luxury things like pools, etc. 🙂
Hello Sabans!
Been a long time since I was on the island but I fondly remember the mango season. They are hands down the best mangos I’ve ever had. Does anyone know what mango variety it is that grows on the island? Not sure if there are multiple varieties on the island, but the ones I recall were in The Bottom near and on the school campus.
