Now, lets see those Grandpa Specials!
Hi all,
I just found this in my father's old things. I know its from 1979, its a wind-up watch that still works (though the crown gear moves with a bit of difficulty).
Anyone has any idea what this is?
The rear says "shock proof" and "200620".
Seiko Prospex Solar Divers - alternatives?
Hi guys, I've been considering purchasing one of these. I like the traditional diver style and Seiko quality for the price point.
Question for the sub is - what else would people suggest with similar looks, at a similar price point (~25% each way is fine).
Also keen to hear from anyone who owns / owned one.
For reference this model is AU$540 here / US$350.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
P.S. I also own a Breitling Superocean Heritage, just to give an idea of my style.
As a watch enthusiast, I'm always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in timepiece technology. When I stumbled upon the Haylou RT watch, I was intrigued by its blend of modern features and budget-friendly price point. So, let's dive into what makes the Haylou RT a watch worth considering for young tech-savvy individuals like myself.
Design and Build Quality: First impressions matter, and the Haylou RT doesn't disappoint. It sports a sleek, circular dial that's reminiscent of more expensive smartwatches on the market. The thin metal frame exudes a sense of durability without compromising on style. It's available in black, which gives it a versatile look that can pair well with both casual and formal attire. The watch is lightweight, making it comfortable for all-day wear, which is a big plus for someone like me who's always on the move.
The strap is made of sport silicone, which feels secure and comfortable on the wrist. It's also removable, allowing for customization with any 22 mm belt. This is a feature I appreciate, as it lets me personalize the watch to match my style or mood.
Display Screen: The Haylou RT features a 1.28-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 240x240 pixels. While the display is common among budget watches, it offers decent color sharpness. However, under direct sunlight, the screen can be a bit challenging to read. The brightness settings help to some extent, but it's something to keep in mind if you're frequently outdoors.
Watch Faces and UI: One of the fun aspects of owning a smartwatch is the ability to switch up the watch faces. The Haylou RT comes with several pre-installed options, and you can download more through the Haylou Fun app. The app also allows for some customization, including using your own photos as a background. The user interface is straightforward, which is great for those who prefer simplicity over complexity.
Fitness and Health Tracking: For fitness enthusiasts, the Haylou RT offers 12 sport modes to track various activities. It also includes 24-hour heart rate monitoring, which is a feature I find essential for keeping tabs on my health and workout intensity. The watch is IP68 water-resistant, meaning it can handle sweat and rain, but it's not recommended for swimming or diving.
Battery Life: Battery life is a standout feature of the Haylou RT. With a 300mAh battery, it can last several days on a single charge, depending on usage. This is particularly appealing to me, as I dislike having to charge my devices frequently.
App Connectivity: The Haylou Fun app is where the watch really comes to life. It syncs with the watch to provide additional options and data tracking. However, some users have reported issues with app connectivity, which can be a drawback if you're looking to consistently track your fitness progress.
Final Thoughts: The Haylou RT watch is an impressive piece of technology for its price range. It offers a stylish design, a comfortable fit, and a suite of features that cater to the basic needs of a smartwatch user. While it may not have the high-resolution AMOLED display or the extensive sports modes of more expensive models, it holds its own as a solid entry-level smartwatch.
For a watch enthusiast like me, the Haylou RT strikes a good balance between functionality and affordability. It's a smartwatch that won't break the bank but still provides a taste of the smartwatch experience. Whether you're looking for a daily timekeeper or a fitness companion, the Haylou RT is a contender worth considering.
...but I'm liking the Volcano:

Wrist Check = What are you wearing?

As always, be respectful of others and follow the rest of our rules. All reasoned opinions are welcome, and remember: criticism about a watch is not a criticism of the owner. Just because someone hates your watch doesn't mean they hate you.
Have fun!

I know most of these aren't to people's taste, however that's okay! I'm 22 and I got into watches 2 months ago
I like different styles so instead of one really expensive watch I got multiple I like instead! I have 3 that mean the most to me. My Timex, My Casio Duro and my Pro diver.
About a week ago I got into watch restoring I got a few none running Vostoks for very cheap and gave them a full service and got them running really well! I have experience with machinery from Gunsmithing and working on cars. So it came pretty naturally although I think I'm going to be spending more money on tools then the watches themselves Glad to be apart of this hobby!
I've got this Lucien Piccard that was a ghost from my mom. The strap that was on it before this chunky stainless thing was a brown, gator looking thing that was missing the buckle.
I want to put a nice dress strap on it, and am looking for recommendations on places. Who do you folks like?
Thanks in advance.
In a modest wooden box, a humble watch collection resided. Each timepiece held a story: one from a cherished gift, another from a memorable trip. No flashy designs, just a quiet chronicle of moments and memories, marking the steady passage of time. It was through this passage of time that true enlightenment and happiness was found in the solace of a Grand Seiko, Rolex, and Omega.
Hello all, I've always wanted a nice automatic chronograph but not sure where to start. I'm inlove with the new tag skipper but that's out of my price range... I was wondering what are everyone's suggestions at the $3000 dollar mark? Cheers
