It came with my Streamlight Protac flashlight and Google is inconclusive.
So far I have this. First wuben and loop gear.. also have EDC/23
Did anyone know where I can get a replacement clip for this light? It popped off the other day and it's gone forever
Need some light recommendations for both the bike (floody) and the helmet (throwy). Budget is $150 can stretch to $200.
Would highly prefer neutral color temperature and high CRI over raw lumens on both. Overall dislike mounting straight flashlights on the bars, but I can manage if I have to.
For the helmet I want something that can be mounted under the visor as my trails have a lot of branches brushing on the helmet and the light getting caught on them is a safety issue. A form factor similar to Sofirn H25L would be ideal as it fits neatly under the visor without interfering with anything. Replaceable 18500 preferred.
For the bike I'd love getting Outbound Lighting Trail Evo but it's just too expensive for me. No cutoff as this is exclusively for trails and the only thing I'll be blinding will be moths. The floodier the better as peripheral vision is important in some of the sections. Either replaceable 21700 or 10Ah capacity.
The pelican 1920 is the right form factor and UI, but the actual light a little bit sucks. Looking for the tac2aa with a 519a and missing the tactical styling, in a nutshell. Anything like that exist? Rechargeable a plus.
I know the older m60 elzetta could. But I can't find the m60 anywhere. Can the new Bravo model use malkoff drop in? I'd like to know before I spend $300

Long time knife edc carrier, just now starting to look into edc flashlights.
I started with 4 budget pocket flashlights, and carried each for a few days to try to learn the hobby and understand the technology.
* Nextorch K30 ($50)
Penlight style. I really like the form factor and brightness provided here. The packaging is slick, unfortunately possibly too slick, as a couple times my fingers struggled to get a grip to pull it out of my pocket. I like the 4 modes (low/medium/high/strobe) but I dislike how there's no memory so that it turns on in a different position eaxh time. Which means a couple times I popped out the flashlight, and immediately strobed everyone. Annoying.
* LuminTop IYP365 ($22)
Penlight style. Perfect sized, doesn't have that insane brightness of the Li-ion ones, but still brighter than I expected for just AAA style batteries. Again, no memory, but without the strobe on the main function, it isn't as annoying. However, the clicker is really finicky. It feels almost loose in the housing. I've read about a way to stick a rubber oring or similar under the cap to mod it to be better, and if I keep this one, I'll have to look into that. Pocketclip is best of the bunch I've tried so far.
* Skilhunt E2A ($22)
I like this form factor, but found this particular one to be awkward in my hands. I have slightly smaller than average handsize, but this fell into a weird space such that gripping it comfortably meant my thumb was a bit too far away from the button, and the button takes significant pressure to activate. The half-press action is perfect, tho. Doesn't help that the lanyard holes sort of block the button so you have to kind of dig deep to depress it. Pocket clip leaves a ton of the butt of the light exposed while in pocket. I really like the brightness options, and it helps that it uses the Li-ion battery. Although, again, no memory mode, so you just have to click through to get the main light you want.
* Olight i3T 2 EoS ($19)
The cheapest of the 4 but the only one I know I'm definitely keeping. Yes, its the dimmer Alkeline batteries instead of the Li-ion and only has 2 modes (low/high), but for a small edc flashlight, its literally something i can carry every single day. The button feels perfect with both the half-stop and full click. It has a memory so it will always turn on the way you expect it to. Deepcarry pocket clip. Very happy with the overall package.
____________
That being said, I'm still on the lookout for edc flashlights. I like the slim form factor of the penlights, as they sit in pocket next to my phone unobtrusively. The fatter lights don't always go in my work pants on in-office days without being awkward. The brightness of the more powerful Li-ion ones definitely would be nice, and the memory keeping UI would be idea. Now that I have a basic idea, i wouldn't mind spending a bit more. I think I'm going to try to grab a Mini-Pineapple next.
What other suggestions does anyone have?
Hey all, looking at getting a 3000k SFT40 Convoy L21B (also considering a C8+) for night hunting. However I need something. That can run 20-30 minutes without overheating, exploding, or burning my hand, and I have no idea if the L21B can do that. If not, any other recommendations for a 3000k-4500k thrower with 800-1200m range for $80 or less would be greatly appreciated.
So i bought a convoy z1 recently to use for exploring. And I've ran into an issue recently its been working great and been super reliable haven't used it a ton maybe a total of 2-3 hours combined so not much at all and have pretty much been running a low output the entire time. But i wanted to take some cool shots the other day and ran into an issue.
On the highest 2 settings so max output it keeps blinking for no apparent reason? I've tried to change the mode by tapping it 20 times then selecting but cant really tell if that even works. And it just keeps blinking none the less. I've tried changing batteries and keeping it turned off for an entire day and still nothing? Is something wrong or am i just stupid? I'm not a big flashlight guy only got into them for using whilst exploring and i've really liked the Z1 so far but this issue makes it useless as i keep walking in the dark cause it turns off then its dark for 1-2 seconds then its on again for like 5 seconds then turns off again sometimes its off for longer and sometimes shorter sometimes its on for longer. Super annoying.
So is it time to retire it after little to no use, Return it? or buy a new flashlight entirely. Or is there a simple fix that i don't know off. Appreciate any help.
Background - I currently have a zebralight - unsure on model but looks really similar to ZebraLight H52W but one less indented ring. I really like its really wide flood and no hotspot - in use the world just looks like its daylight. But it takes AAs and rechargable ones dont seem to provide enough voltage to reach peak illumination.
Purpose - Around the house and garden when doing tasks where light isnt available (DIY projects, moving bins at night etc). Tasks between up close work and approx 3 metres. I have no need for a long throw headtorch
Size - Not heavy, not bulky, comparable with my zebralight ideally. For example, the Fenix HM50R form factor looks reasonable. The fenix HM65R looks too big / requiring a top strap.
Battery Type & Quantity - I've only ever used AAs so I don't know much about this. As long as it doesn't require a separate battery pack that's fine. It must have USB-C (fast charging).
Price Range - up to £150. I'm not price sensitive. I'll pay for the right light. ones above £150 seem to be unsuitable from what i've seen. Cheaper would be fine as long as its good.
Type - headlamp
Lumens - I'm not certain but I think my current headtorch is 280 on max which feels like enough. More is fine though.
Switch Type - must be able to turn on. Ideally i'd be able to turn it off too. beyond that I don't have any requirements.
Anything Else?
- wide flood
- no (or little) hotspot
- high CRI bulb
- some form of power indicator
Thank you for any help!
Was shining some light at some unsuspecting kids at the beach recently, happed to catch a falling star in the picture. The kids were really good about it, they were super impressed by the beam when we talked to them later.
The flashlight is a Zbolt Blazer LED 18350. If I had to guess the range of the kids, probably 350-400 yards.
I’m looking to get a few lights as gifts and I was wondering if they’re about to go on sale on the manufacture websites soon when they come back from the holidays. Any recommendations or suggestions on when these sites have their next big sales?
My wife came into our windowless bathroom while I was showering and asked why are you showering in here with the lights off and your flashlight on?
I was just playing around seeing how long turbo lasted and wanted to watch my new sofirm light auto step down on its own. I told her I was testing... she said "should I be worried"? Lol
Discovered this recently and it’s a great way to EDC a small light and keep your pocket free. I pair it with quick-release keyrings for added convenience.
Price Range:
Sub 100 Euros but will happily stretch of its worth it. Live in Norway so prices might be higher here than in the US.
Purpose:
Primarily theater tech work, rigging, and basic carpentry. I need a low light mode for working on and around the stage during shows. Something with just enough light to plug in cables or see marks on the floor. I'd also need a higher power mode for rigging or carpentry work in the dark. Won't need to flood an area with light but enough to comfortably work at an arms length. A blue color mode might be useful, but I'm considering 3D printing a moveable holder for a gel or something if it means getting a better light, or a less complicated interface.
Battery Type & Quantity:
Whatever seems the most reasonable with the other reqirements. AA and especially AAA are always available at the theater so that would be practical in case of emergency. Open to just getting a spare of whatever rechargeable battery is recommended instead tho.
Size:
Compact is highly prefered. Will often be used with coms headsets.
Type:
Headlamp. The form factor of things like Zebralights seems nice in that they can be removed from the headband and be used as a flashlight, but that isn't a requirement.

It would be very highly preferred if the light went from "off" to "low light" in the easiest possible way. Preferably by a single click. It will be used while hiding/working on stage during live theater, and accidentally turning a light to its highest mode would be disasterous. This low light usecase is the most important for me.
Switch Type:
Not enought experience with different kinds to have a strong preference. Preferably a switch thats quick and easy to find and use single handedly in the dark and in the heat of the moment, often with thin gloves. Something with a low risk of accidentally being turned on in a pocked would be nice, but I assume locking functions are common for this?
Anything Else?:
The most important thing is definitely a very low light mode, and minimizing (preferably removing) any risk of accidentally turning the light on to a higher setting. I cant really give a spesific lumen value for this sadly. I've used a Petzl Aria 1 for a bit, which lists its lowest mode at 7 lumen. This is more than enough, and I'd prefer a bit less.
Highest possible brightness is not that important. When used at higher light levels it will mostly be for working with my hands, or possibly looking at something a few meters away.
Decent CRI would be nice. Or at least enough to easily tell the difference between various colored tapes and marks on cables and floors.
Thanks for any and all help!
Took my TS22 out into the dark and decided to shine it through a friends telephoto lens. Absolute bat signal. It wasn't perfectly collimated like an LEP, but it was also 4500 lumens, so it had still had significant oomph at the other end. My friend hasn't really seem torches like this, so 4500 lumens at all was "Crazy bright" for him.
Next up I think we're going to use one of the astrophotography telescopes.
Entirely impractical for any extended use, but absolutely insane fun

As far as I understand, human eye pigment responsible for night vision is very sensitive to the wavelength (it's destroyed by shorter wavelengths, and require ~15min to restore it back), so, the best night vision lights should be deep red.
What are good headlamps with deep red light (and also lightweight)?
I'm considering NU25, but unfortunately they didn't specified the red wavelength. And the Sofirn H25LR that has 660nm red light. I wonder if there are other headlamps with red light deeper than 660nm?
