My friend needs a multitool for their job on a farm. They have a tiny gas station knife that isn't cutting it. They said something like my skeletool if it had scissors would be great. I was looking around and a Leatherman style CS would be perfect if it wasn't discontinued. Other than that I was thinking the micra or wingman, but I wanted a second opinion first.
The constraints are:
Not looking for something bigger then say 3.5 oz. What’s the “best” lightweight MT with pliers?
Looking to buy my son a graduating gift and think a good multi-tool would be nice. I have a Leatherman Signal and a Squirt, and I’m impressed with the quality. However, I’m not so impressed with the price, given that teenage boys (mine anyway) are prone to losing things. Can anyone recommend something close in features to the signal that is good quality? Basics would be locking blades, saw, pliers, bottle opener. Nice to have would be flint and whistle. Use would be camping/fishing. TIA!

Hi all,
I need a multitool for work (boats, marine stuff), but not for underwater. I previously had a skeletool, and the selection of tools was great, but the execution was average. The pliers were flimsy, whenever I tried to really torque something the tips would come out of alignment. I've got a Wave I keep at home, and even this older model (probably 2011?) has no such issues. The blade also became blunt quite quickly. I lost it recently (the pocket clip had bent out of alignment and it slipped out of my pocket), so I'd like to replace it with something similar in utility but with a better execution.
I'm not fussed on the blade now, I carry a spyderco salt 2 anyway, so it's more a matter of whether I'm asking too much that a minimalist tool can have a reasonable set of pliers? Google showed me a thread last year with someone recommending a SOG Flash MT, but the reviews aren't great?
Any help appreciated, thanks.
A medium, uk legal, pocket sized multitool which is about the juice size would suit my needs lot but I’m struggling to find anything like the juices since they got discontinued. Any recommendations?
Any good suggestions for new multi tool since leatherman crunch is discontinued and im looking for something similar.
I have a SOG power pint but the screw holding the pocket clip broke and I want to repair it. I've tried reaching out to SOG via email with no success. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Got my Powerpint today, Brand new, out of the box the plier opening is really stiff like unnaturally so, has anyone experienced this? Got any tips to loosen it up?
These two seemed to have been the best knifeless ,TSA-compliant tools out there but they are sold out or discontinued. Gerber or Leatherman didn't put out any products that were successors. Does anyone know of similar plier-based tools I might consider?
Hi, I'm looking to buy a multitool and a knife mainly for my job.
I am a Network Engineer and sometimes I end up on jobsites for buildings and such, so I need some tools I can carry in my bag, with pliers and wire cutters, and some other tools that could result useful.
The second is a smaller multitool, with a knife and some other tools, (like the Leatherman Free T2) that I can carry in my pocket every day, not only for work.
I saw some blade design with the first half being straight edge and the second half different, like a bread knife. bonus points it there is something like that ;)
I'm a total noob in multitools, so I am asking for some recommendations. Thanks to everyone who will take some time to answer and suggest something ;)
My main goal is trying to reduce my pocket count, just looking to have less stuff jangling around if I can.
I occasionally travel for work so knifeless would be good, but we know TSA can be dumb. I frequently use scissors in my daily use, mainly for cutting zip ties though so just something like wire or flush cutters would do the job as well. Something I use every day, multiple times a day is tweezers. I currently carry a Leatherman Style CS and love the tweezers on them, scissors are great too, but they have a knife and some other tools I just don't use. I use the tweezers to pluck hair out of my ears. Getting old sucks kids, would not reccomend.
I also carry a hacked up Ozark Trail Multitool that I have a 5/32 hex driver in. I just went to Dollar Tree's automotive section, picked up a set of folding allens and ground the loop thinner a bit on my benchtop grinder and slapped that in there much like this guy did. Just got the right size torq bit and tore it apart and put back in what I wanted. Every few days I have to tighten the screws back up, nothing some locktite wouldn't fix, but I find myself really only using the driver. I use the hex driver constantly at work getting access panels off to service machines.
This is a weird request I know, but I figured the experts here would know the best option available.
Thank you in advance.
It's perfect for what I need but I can't find one anyone know we're to find it
I was at Lowes here in TN after discovering I had left my multitool at home (only a big deal to me) and saw the gerber truss for sale for $34.98 I bought it.
The pliers are good work well should have put a crimper on them but otherwise a good tool.
then I opened the tools they are acceptable. Nothing great just tools that look like they can do their job
THen I opened the main blade. I'm embarrassed for Gerber my micra's blade is almost as big. Its so small its actually hard to sharpen. Looking at the tool its plier base takes up so much room that all of the "long" blades (main, serrated, saw, scissors) had to be made ridiculous small. its actually funny they put a knife that small on a tool that large. I have several gerber knives and love them but this will probably be my last multitool from them.
I'm buying a Leatherman multitool, which one would you recommend?
So two days ago I randomly got the urge to have a useful tool in my pocket at all times, and of course I started looking online, searching for information on various brands and kinds of multi tools. At this point I have watched many YouTube videos, browsed many brands' websites, and saved a bunch of tools in a dedicated Amazon list. The thing is, for what I'm looking for, it's either always too little or too much if I try to filter results while searching, especially on Amazon or Victorinox' websites. Another thing is budget: I would like to not spend more than 40€ but I can spend up to 50€ if it's really worth it. I'm searching for something that stays comfortable in my hand, so between 7 and 10 cm in length when closed. So, about the features that I'm searching for:
I'd like a decently sized blade, doesn't have to be huge but it shouldn't be small compared to the size of the whole tool, if it locks too that would be awesome;
A pair of scissors, again not that small compared to the whole size (think of roxon m2 proportion);
Pliers: yes pliers but not the kind that you find on plier-based multitools, but rather the precision pliers you can find in a victorinox tinker deluxe.
Bit driver: some way of being able to stuck an hexagonal bit somewhere in the tool.
Anything more than that is not exactly useless, but there are some things I would basically never find a use case for, such as: A corkscrew, a victorinox-stile hook, a saw, a file, or a can opener. Things like a bottle opener, nail cleaner, small blade for various applications, pointy bits to make holes (or even glass breaker), hard hammer-like surface and a ruler are well appreciated but not essential. I'm already planning to get a Swiss card lite from victorinox to take care of more minute tasks and utilities. Thanks to everyone in advance, I hope I'm not asking for something impossible :)
What are some really nice sheaths or holsters that fit a typical MP-600 Gerber??
Multi use sheath & holster recommendations would be good too..
Thanks..
So, this might be an odd need from a multitool but here goes. I am looking for suggestions for a multitool that has a locking awl on it in addition to being large enough that I can get a good grip while putting my body weight behind it. I am using the awl to test 3/8” - 1/2” cement to tell if its integrity is compromised. I am thinking that an awl will in most cases have a small enough point footprint to not make too large of a hole. I am open to suggestions though. Thanks in advance!
The Powerpint cap lifter is terrible. It keeps breaking the cap metal. Tried several bottles with the same results
Anybody make leatherman like tool with a scissor instead of pliers and maybe no blade so it can be taken on a plane?
Hello everyone:)
I work as a tradesman, in sheet metal. I often find myself needing random tools when I'm away from my tool bag.
I also enjoy the outdoors and camping/hiking. As well as some diy crafts around the house.
Maybe it's too general, but do you guys have any recommendations that would be good for these purposes? I tried looking on my own, but there are so many options, from so many different brands. It's kind of overwhelming to me.
I think a big thing for me is actually being able to carry it in the front pocket of my pants. I think this is more valuable than having some tools that I'll never use. Though I do really like the idea of a tool than can cover a majority of bases, as well.
Please offer any recommendations or advice. Thanks very much!
