I'm currently reading Stephen Silverman's "The Amusement Park: 900 Years of Thrills and Spills, and the Dreamers and Schemers Who Built Them" and in this current chapter, he's explaining the Mauch Chunk Railway, a coal mine railway that was apparently so fun to ride that it eventually evolved into an early roller coaster attraction in the late 1800s.
"Those with reserved seats were allowed priority boarding. But first, everyone had to make a mandatory stop at the souvenir stand."
I snorted a bit because even a century-and-a-half ago, there was a mine cart roller coaster with a skip-the-line system and a gift shop concept. Except this ride was 28 minutes long and hit speeds of 65 mph at points for 5 cents.
Also hundreds of years ago, carousels were a sort of training practice for jousting knights (hence the horses). Before that, it was originally a game where you run around in a circle trying to hit your opponent with a ball filled with dense perfume, but you would probably get kicked out of Disneyland today if you tried that on a carousel now.
Every time i look in there it always says “LL not available at this time” same with frozen.
I ordered our Magic Bands, and we are charging and then activating them as we speak.
Apparently I’m the admin for both Magic Bands? I assume this is for kids 99% of the time. Is there any way to make her admin of herself? Is there any downside on her end that she isn’t an admin?
Sorry for all the embarrassing questions but I’m a Disney newcomer and feel a bit out of my element with all of this!!
Thank you!

I don't have a great name idea for the concept, but I'd love to have a land that represents a sort of British village and nearby forest surroundings that would contain attractions and eateries themed several Disney feature films set in the UK that don't really have much in the way of international Disney park representation, such as :
I am going to be going to DisneySea in 2 days (Wednesday) and have never been here before. I know how the entry for Fantasy Springs works. I just have a question about the actual time slots for the rides. Let’s say I get in with Happy Entry at 8:45 and I am able to book Frozen, Peter Pan, and Rapunzel. It is possible that they give me times for the rides that overlap? What happens if I get Frozen for 10 am, and Rapunzel for 10:15 am, but Frozen has a 70 minute wait?
Hello! I will be going to Disney next weekend and I am unsure if I should do 1 day with park hopper or 2 days with 1 park each day.
I grew up going to WDW and this is my first time at Disneyland. I am worried if I choose 2 days with 1 park each day I’ll get bored since I’ll go through everything pretty quickly.
I noticed Disneyland has a lot of similarities with Magic Kingdom with the exception of Toon Town (ugh I miss it, it was a core childhood memory visiting Minnie’s house at MK!). Oh and obviously there is ALOT of food at Disneyland & DCA.
Can someone help me in choosing the best way to spend my first time at Disneyland?
As the title says, I’d rather plan a trip there and save for a few than keep getting jerked and ripped off by these parks in the US. would love any confirmation info!
Hi all! We are going in April 2025, just waiting for those vacation plans to drop but I am getting confused even looking around the info graphs here if anyone can help. We want to stay 3 nights and do 2 park days.. is this not possible with a vacation package? If not, we can do a 2 night 2 days but we would want to do Disney Sea and Disneyland.. does the Fantasy Springs passport count as 1 full day ticket or do you use that in combination with the Disneyland ticket?
Thanks all
If you were lucky enough to go on this ride/experience when it was a part of Tomorrowland, I highly encourage you to get a ticket to this $20 show in Hollywood, California. The team is great and made a really fun horror/parody that will leave you soaked in blood and gore. Def check it out.

Good evening, I posted pics in here at times. Yet, people DM'ed me saying this is not my "personal blog" and post somewhere else. My question is "why can't we post pics of adventures at Disneyland?
It’s been about 6 years since I’ve visited Disney, and since then I’ve developed some pretty terrible plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. (Thanks to my job where I’m on concrete floors)
I’m in physical therapy and I do my daily stretches, but my trip is in January and I have absolutely no clue how I’m going to do it with the constant pain I’m in.
Any tips or tried and true products/footwear recommendations?
EDIT: adding that I’ve tried a cortisone shot and I wound up with a cortisone flare, couldn’t walk for a week!!
I know cast members cannot accept gifts that are considered to have "value". I've seen people give friendship bracelets and wood tokens and whatnot and I think that's so cool; I've given some cast members pins before and it didn't seem to be an issue. If I hand painted a 3" wood ornament with Disney characters on it, would that be "too much" of a gift? Or because it's homemade/DIY, would it be okay? Also, if any cast members are lurking, what are your favorite goodies that you can accept??
Please don’t come at me. I am sharing my own opinion, nothing more (nothing less).
I was in Orlando for work this week and decided to visit some parks – I had never been to WDW so it seemed a good thing to do.
I went to Magic Kingdom one day and Hollywood Studios another day (I entered both parks on “admission after 1 pm” tickets.)
Both parks were so crowded, I felt overwhelmed the entire time. I purchased Lightning Lane passes, but the rides I had booked were temporarily broken so I could not ride them. I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and was so excited to see that section of the park. But it was so crowded, and people were so consumed in their phones, nothing felt like Star Wars – even though it was very cool to look at. I tried moving slowly, standing out of the way, but I was constantly bumped into by people in a rush.
I don’t know. I wonder if I am alone in these thoughts, or not. I have heard friends talk about “Disney magic,” but I feel like I missed it.
Maybe I did not try hard enough. Or, perhaps, I tried TOO hard in all the wrong ways.
Hey all,
This is just a friendly reminder that websites like Inside the Magic, WDWNT, and The DisInsider are not reputable websites for one or more of the following reasons:
* Unreliability
* Vague, intentionally misleading, or patently false clickbait titles
* Unsourced rumors/ flat out making up stories for clicks
* Misinformation
* Other drama
Because of these reasons, we have added a new rule banning these wretched spam blogs from this subreddit.
Thank you for understanding!
Have a MAGICAL day!
For anybody who’s been to the Disney park in China, what were some of the main highlights of your day there besides the Pirates of the Caribbean ride (which I’ve heard is the greatest Disney ride on earth)?
When I first saw this ridiculous new lightning lane whatever thing that they are doing, I thought I was nuts and alone on this but the multiple podcasts I listen to made me feel better. So far the general consensus is that this is a real tone deaf move on Disney’s part and it is not in the direction that everybody wants: make the parks more accessible to the average family. So far since 2020 it feels like pretty much every move Disney has made has been for the wealthy and not the normal family visiting. And of course people that aren’t like us will look at this and say “ so just stop going “, which yeah of course, but that’s terrible news for people like us. Can we just bring back 2019 already?
Finally got to try out hyperlapse techniques in the park!
