Any suggestions for nearby hotels that aren't disney hotels?

Hi all! We are looking to visit in January 2025 from Canada as a group of 5 (2 adults, 13yo, 9yo and 4yo) and I am wondering if anybody has any suggestions for accommodations that is not any of the disney resorts, that is easily accessible by MRT and does not require a long train ride, preferably.

I was initially looking at booking a room at one of the resorts but I saw a few posts here that mentioned that the resorts are strict about the 4 person rule, and booking 2 separate rooms just is not economical for us.

For more context: It's our first time in Hong Kong, so we are clueless as to how accessible anything is. We are planning to do 2 park days and want to hopefully take an afternoon break and go back to watch the fireworks.

Any info / suggestions / advice this group can provide would be greatly appreciated.😊

Hot take: World of Frozen should not celebrate Christmas, but yet HKDL is money-hungry so they made Arendelle celebrate Christmas anyways, which ignores all thematic elements of the area.

So, as we all know, Arendelle is a fictional Nordic country on Earth that has seasons (Frozen - Anna was born on the Summer Solstice, and she also said “You kind of set off an eternal winter”, suggesting the existence of other seasons), and World of Frozen at HKDL celebrates Summer Snow Day in Arendelle, set after both Frozen I and II (Playhouse in the Woods is about the elements in Frozen II).

Firstly, let’s ignore that they are celebrating Summer Snow Day 24/7, 365. If they are celebrating Summer Snow Day as part of the theme of World of Frozen, then why would they celebrate Christmas? Arendelle is Nordic and December is Winter, so there is no way that they can celebrate Summer Snow Day and Christmas together at the same time.

The only reason why they would do this is money, to attract foreign visitors to the Park using celebrations that would ruin the entire theme of the area in the first place

EDIT: I'm not saying that they don't celebrate Christmas, I am saying that World of Frozen is based off the theme of Arendelle celebrating "Summer Snow Day", and Arendelle is a Nordic country, so by logic, the really shouldn't be celebrating Christmas during summer.

Early Park Entry on Tier 2 Date?

For those who experienced coming to Disneyland on a Tier 2 date, do you think it is worth it? I’ve read that the main benefit on availing the pass is for the WOF rides but even then the lines are manageable in the afternoon for a Tier 2. Do you agree? Love to hear some insights. Thank you!

Early access or Premier access.

We are planning to visit HKDL on October 4th, Friday as a group of 6. We have reserved park entry tickets for the day. It shows as a Tier 3 day on the HKDL calendar. Would you suggest to get Early Access or Premier access or both considering it is a Chinese National day week.

Also do we need to prebook Premier access if required or are they available in the Park after entry. I can see in HKDL website that it is available to prebook for the next 2 weeks only.

Is Magic Access Gold worth it?

Plan is to go the weekend of 16-17 November for 2 day access. Question is, is Gold worth it? I’ve seen threads where people have thought worth it if you go 2-3 days but this must only be for Silver and weekdays?

Gold even with the 15% off for groups of 3+ is still double standard 2 day and looking at the benefits I can’t quite see how I would make back the difference from food discounts. We would do buffet breakfast each day and Explorers Semi Buffet with Momentous Viewing 1 or 2 nights.

Room is already 30% off Flexible Rate as we doing 3 night promo at Explorers Lodge so no added benefit there.

Am I missing anything?

TIA!

Iron Man Meet n' Greet

We're taking our son out to HKDL. He really loves collecting signatures so that's our main aim for our visit, rides aren't too much of an issue since lines don't seem that bad, and even if the park is busy there's always premier access.

He's a young boy so currently he really likes superheroes. Spider-Man is one of his favorites but we know the characters rotate at the stage and Halloween has announced that for the next month or two will be a pairing of hero and villain and will mostly be Loki and Thor so we've been downplaying the chance of meeting Spider-Man and playing up Iron Man since we know he is guaranteed to be in the tech showcase.

However, we heard the Iron Man showcase can get quite busy and they like to get people through as quickly as possible. We have been looking online but couldn't find any information, does anyone know if Iron Man signs autograph books or at least will stamp the autograph book (I know Buzz back in the USA had a stamp since he couldn't sign)

If not what are some good locations to meet characters who sign? I know there's the princess/queen area and Duffy area but he's not really into either of those things. He's mostly wanting to collect signatures so any other places we should aim for to get them?

Question regarding park reservations

Me and my family are looking to go to HK Disneyland sometime late November. We've already booked rooms at the hotel, but we haven't reserved the tickets yet due to budgetary restraints. I read somewhere that if you're a hotel guest, you have the option to buy the tickets at check-in? Is this still true?

Halloween Time!

Spending my first Halloween at HKDL,, I know about the fireworks/drone show and the Halloween show at theater in the wild but are there any other activities to expect or is it just operations as usual with a not-so-spooky overlay?

Ticket purchase and reservations

Purchased a ticket online today, but when I go to register, it says that is already reached its quota. But the next five days are already sold out and I will already be gone from Hong Kong. Does this mean I can’t use my ticket and it’s nonrefundable? That seems very odd.

Booked through Klook - unable to link e-ticket

Hello!

I was looking to hopefully change/cancel my Disneyland ticket reservation due to the incoming typhoon (weather forecast predicts very heavy rain on the day of our visit). However, when I tried linking my e-tickets (bought from Klook) to the HK Disneyland app, it keeps showing me an error.

I tried contacting Klook to make sure that my reservation had been made. They assured me it was. If that's the case, I don't know why I am still unable to link my e-tickets to the app.

Any advice?

“Disney Halloween Time” slogan for 2024 is “Get into Wicked”

Hong Kong Disneyland made an Instagram Reel along with discoverhongkong promoting Disney Halloween Time that will run from Sep 13 to Oct 31. In the reel, the POV car is driving on Tsing Ma Bridge, and giant apples are bouncing on the road surface, with the supporting structure of the bridge turning into a mirror with the Evil Queen behind it. This reel, along with the slogan “Get into Wicked”, suggests that the Evil Queen could be added into Let’s Get Wicked stage show, as shown by previous trend where a larger change happens every two years. I expect that minor villains in the show, such as Mother Gothel, could be replaced by the Evil Queen, although there is also a possibility that the show would add a new segment without compromising on previous segments.

Also, while we’re on the topic of slogans, here are the slogans for previous years

2023: “Let’s Get Wicked in Fashion!” - Opening of “House of De-Villains”, COVID restriction lifts and Mother Gothel now invites guests on stage instead of using the Master of Ceremony for her performance.

2022: “Show Your Wicked Side” - Maleficent was added into LGW replacing Cruella De Vil, Cruella De Vil moved to stage outside Pavillion.

2021: “Let’s Get Wicked Again” - Second year of LGW, afaik no minor changes except changes due to COVID restrictions at the time.

2020: NA (no celebration)

2019: “Let’s Get Wicked” - debut of LGW

The slogans all meant something, and I think the 2024 slogan means something too, but we will have to wait for HKDL to post more about the Halloween celebrations this year to find out whether I’m correct.

I should also mention that I could be completely wrong because this is pure speculation.

Disney store items

I am traveling to Hong Kong for a few days and won’t have time to visit Disneyland like I wanted to originally. Is there anyway to get some of the cool exclusive Disneyland Hong Kong merch with out getting a ticket to the park to visit the store? I want to get some small gifts for my friends. Like how Disneyland California has the Disney store outside the park for anyone to go and purchase items? Thanks for any help.

8/31-9/01 2024 visit recap - no lines(!)

Just sharing my visit from this past weekend (August 31Saturday and Sept 01 Sunday). Light rain on Saturday and swelteringly hot on Sunday. We did a ton on Saturday but don't remember the timing. I was wondering if this was normal for a weekend. We've gone about 8-9 times before but I don't remember walking on as many rides as we did yesterday. I even took some videos of just walking onto the rides, it was kind of crazy.

Sunday- Arrived at 11AM

Toy Soldier Parachute Drop (10 mins wait)

Slinky Dog Ride (walk on, no line)

Toy Soldiers on Parade

Mystic Manor (walk on, no line)

Dumbo the Flying Elephant (10 mins)

Arendelle street show (getting ready for Princess Anna's birthday, the children got to learn a dance and dance with Anna and Elsa)

Playhouse in the Woods (reservation for 1:45) Show with Anna and Elsa

Lunch at Gold Crocus Inn

Frozen Ever After (15 minutes!)

It's a Small World (10 Minutes)

Teacups (5 minutes)

Iron Man Experience (10 Minutes)

Orbitron x2 (walk on, no line)

Pixar Water Play Party Parade

Out of the park by 4:30

Maybe the trick is to go on the hottest days? I did see someone pass out in line for the Orbitron, so stay safe out there!

Character Meal Questions/recommendations?

Hi everyone,

Going to Disneyland Hong Kong for the first time in October. I have been to the USA Parks multiple times and love character meals but heard HK character meals don’t have as many characters. Can you please tell me which character meals you have done and which character/s you met (and what outfit they were in). Please also advise if you’d recommend the one you went to and if you’d go back.

Thank you.

Halloween Magic Access Night

I am beyond frustrated! I don’t get the HKDL magic access emails because my country of residence doesn’t allow for their privacy policy or something? Anyway, I’ve been looking almost daily to see when I’d be able to book a reservation for Sept 14’s late night Halloween magic access night because it sounded absolutely fantastic. By the time I saw that it was able to be booked today, Sept 14 was already sold out. I tried to get a reservation for Sept 13, even though it would be nearly impossible to make it after work. When I went to enter my name and pass number, it said my name was wrong. I guess my pass uses my middle name, even though I don’t use it one anything?! 🤷🏻‍♀️ Then, when I went back to fix my “mistake” it said that my pass number had already been used. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Aside from making basic park reservations, I have almost nothing but trouble with their site. I was really, really looking forward to the late night event and couldn’t even get the point to select a date to go. Uggggh.

Disneyland Hollywood Hotel Check Out Luggage Hold

Hello everyone. Planning to hit HK Disney with the family in October and staying at the Hollywood Hotel for 2 nights. Does anyone know if they would allow us to leave our luggage with them AFTER check out and come back later to pick them up? I see alot of posts saying the hotel can hold it prior to check in (although I can't even find the information officially off their website) but not sure about after check out.

Advanced Halloween Booking: HK Residents Only?

Hey All, I'll be in Hong Kong with me 2 year old in October.

I found this press statement about the upcoming attractions for Halloween, but there is a big focus on HK residents. Also, when I look on the HK Disneyland site, I don't see any mention of the activities listed there or where I could sign up for the "Jack Skellington’s The Nightmare Before Dinner" which they say opens on August 30th.

Does anyone know if the advanced tickets are really just for HK residents? If so, any information on when it will open for tourists or where/how I can book ahead?

EDIT

FYI: Jack Skellington’s The Nightmare Before Dinner reservations are live!

Breakfast options near the resorts

We are looking at staying at one of the hotels for a couple of nights. The breakfast buffet is too expensive to do it every morning, especially since our child won’t eat much. Where do people go nearby for cheaper breakfasts? Tung Chung / Discovery Bay?
