Right, so I'm sure I've shared it already, but I made a petition to request Disney not to do away with the Haunted Mansion's stretching room corpse. I'd genuinely appreciate it if you guys could please sign and share this to convince the big-wigs at the Mouse House to let the Ghost Host's body- pardon the bad pun- "hang around".
Walt Disney World has allegedly filed construction permits for the Walt Disney World Haunted Mansion in Liberty Square. Although what those changes are is not specified other than "provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction," , I speculate that Florida’s version of Constance the black widow bride is getting “The Axe” or more or less having her axe taken away from her. It is also possible that imagineers could potentially alter the pre-show in Florida first as their mansion isn’t as respected by the imagineers lately, any new experimental changes that they fear could ruin the Disneyland mansion get put here, (think the photopass camera flash in the portrait hall( which they originally wanted to put in the ballroom) , the cgi hitchhikers, and shoehorning the hatbox ghost into the endless hallway. WDW’s mansion is the imagineer playground, however If the stretching room climax is altered, the iconic Ghost Host spiel done by Paul Frees will be altered for the first time since the mansion opened half a century ago to change the scene. But only time will tell…What are your thoughts?
I got this statue back in 2022 and I finally have a proper place to put her so I’m making scene to put her in. I made a stand that holds a light to light her up and I’m currently working on the background pieces for the spot.
I know Walt disney Worlds BHB is being kept at the Walt Disney Archives but does anyone know if they kept the Disneyland Animatronic or if she was repurposed for something else?
The floating effect is cool, but half of the time, you can see the wires faintly. You also lose the gag that the original Imagineers intended. In the scrapped dialogue, the Ghost Host says, 'Perhaps Madame Leota can establish contact; she has a remarkable head for materializing the disembodied.' As you enter the room, you would assume her voice is coming from the chair, only to find that it's empty, and she is quite literally just a head. The floating effect makes her just another floating thing in the room where as on the table She is the calm of the storm around her. But what do you guys think? Do you like the floating leota effect or should she be moved back to the table.
Hello, this is my first time posting to this subreddit so apologies if this has been gone over.
More than a decade ago I bought a casting of a supposed leering skull off Ebay, and was curious if anyone happens to know the lineage of where it came from. All the details on it are pretty soft and rough. Someone named Mr. Chicken made a whole blogpost re-sculpting a clay pour off one of these very same castings
Here is a link to a Worthpoint page showing one of the listings of the shop I bought it from: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/haunted-mansion-house-1-scale-491661348
Any help is greatly appreciated! Id just like more information about what I have
EDIT: to include a couple of pictures of the particular head I have
Saw this and had to share
I know this is kinda off season considering the overlay just got removed, followed by the reopening and refurbishment of the classic haunted mansion, but I have to know. How do you feel about the NBC Overlay? I’m asking cause I’ve noticed a bit of a pattern and I kinda wanna see if my theory is true.
I’ve noticed the people who like the overlay and get excited about it tend to be general park goers (aka the presumed majority) who enjoy riding the haunted mansion mainly for its “classic must ride” status but aren’t really super into its lore and characters. They do however enjoy the Nightmare before Christmas as a movie (as many Disney fans do ofc) and so seeing the two IPs crossover during the holidays is exciting to them.
Now the people who from what I’ve seen don’t enjoy the overlay are people who are actively Haunted Mansion fans, I mean the people who are familiar with the characters, the lore, all the different adaptations, ect. They may not like it for personal reasons such as thinking that the theming makes no sense or they may not hate the overlay itself, but they resent it for being up for long.
Personally I fall more into the second group. I don’t particularly hate the overlay but I don’t really like it much either (I wouldn’t mind riding it once just to say I did it but I still have my problems with it). I am a huge haunted mansion fan and have spent alot of time deep diving its lore and characters. It should be noted that I am also a big fan of Nightmare Before Christmas (I love Tim Burton movies in general) but when I go to Disney and I go to ride the Haunted Mansion, I wanna see the classic Haunted Mansion characters there, not characters from another IP, at least not for as long as they keep the overlay up but we’ll get to that in a moment. I would also like to say that as a fan of both IP’s…..I don’t think the crossover works as well as some people think. Just cause both properties are spooky and vaguely halloween-ish does not mean they automatically go well together. I feel like the general aesthetic and style of NBC and the aesthetic of HM don’t really go super well together but especially, I think the super bright saturated colors of the NBC characters clash really badly with the more toned down colors of the mansion (I get the florecent paint is intentional so that the characters don’t get lost in the darkness but it still looks tacky imo). Also, the concept of the overlay doesn’t really make any sense. Like under normal circumstances, disney rides have some kind of storytelling, weather they’re telling an original story, serve as some kind of sequel to an already existing story or are just recapping the events of a movie, the storytelling is atleast consistent. How is the Haunted Mansion Holiday story consistent with the NBC canon? I guess you could call it an AU but that feel a bit lazy to me.
But now to the issue I see most people having with it: the overlay is up for wayyy to long. For the past few years its been consistently up for half of the entire year, which is ridiculous considering its advertised as a seasonal holiday overlay. Ig its no big deal if you’re a local and you go multiple times a year (which goes for the majority of DL goers but) but it makes it really hard for people who can’t go that frequently to have to plan their vacation around the months before the overlay is up if they wanna ride the classic mansion. I myself am privileged because I frequent WDW the most and have only been to DL once, but that was a very long time ago and I would like to go to DL again, and when I’m there, I wanna ride the classic mansion (especially now since I’d like to see the recent changes up close), having to plan a vacation to Cali around the first half of the year just for that is irritating. Also, the Haunted Mansion is already perfectly themed for Halloween (and Disney KNOWS this because not only do they usually release their HM merch lines in the months leading up to Halloween, but most of their halloween parades in many of the parks have sections entirely dedicated to their respective mansion ride), and since the overlay is themed more towards the Christmas side of NBC rather than the Halloween side, it kinda sucks that you don’t get to experience the mansion in its original form during halloween. Ideally, the overlay wouldn’t bother me too much if it was there from November to January because at least then it would actually feel seasonal.
But yeah, how do you guys feel about it?
I was watching a video of the new queue and ride updates and was intrigued by this sign. It's Italian, saying to beware of cats. It sounds foreboding but there are many signs like this for sale, it's to tell guests to mind the cat, not let it run out etc.
In this context however, is it a nod to the following cat from concept art? It seems odd to have Italian in New Orleans.
I was also surprised to find seemingly this exact sign for sale on Amazon for like $30. I don't think it will weather well over the years. A review even mentioned how quickly the composite rotted and the screws fell out. That it might not be meant for uncovered outdoor use. I guess I can understand having a spooky veiled bust from Amazon for ambiance in the new gift shop (and a quickly vanished AI art bride picture from Redbubble) , but it just makes me feel like things weren't done with as much love and care.
Edit: Removed strikethrough tildes, couldn't get it to work on mobile.

Welcome foolish mortals to this haunted mansion fan project these grim grinning ghosts will be happy to see you this October and we hope you’ll join us so we may reach 999 happy haunts er I mean subscribers
I never understood it until I was 17 or so and realized the dark meaning behind it. I wonder how many of you guys as kids went into the stretching room and had that scene go over your heads. Surely I couldn’t have been the only one right??? Because if so then that’s another reason for them not to remove it as if young kids don’t get the meaning then why bother removing such an iconic scene other than it being “too sensitive” I was still unnerved by it but I never understood it until I got way older.
What are your thoughts about the new digital Hitchhiking Ghosts in the attraction?
Spoilers, obviously.
I’m actually really happy with how much isn’t changed.
I think the queue music and new bride were sorely needed. I’ll miss the concept of Constance but not the animatronic.
The hitchhiking ghosts at the end definitely look like they’re digital now, but they’re not doing the WDW animations and I absolutely prefer it that way.
And most of all, our ghost host is still hanging around 🖤
I’m sure there’s a bunch of little things missed by way of video - I couldn’t tell if the knocked over bust had his projection properly fixed or not - but this just makes me so happy.
So with the change to the bride I’m now seeing on social media all these people coming out saying they always hated the character of Constance and she was too cheesy and didn’t fit the mansion. If that’s the case where was all the passion for her removal when she was being used in mech, comics and meet and greets
I just find it humorous that a lot of anti fans just come out of the wood work now that the change is confirmed
