We love Mike's place in Kent. It's there any other unique restaurants like Mike's in the Akron area?
Was offered a job about 20 mins west of Akron and am looking for insights into cool places for someone in their mid 20s to live? I typically frequent more dive type bars, am a foodie, and love nature. I’ve read that Highland Square is the “hip” spot but wanted to hear other opinions. My budget is around $1500. Any help or insights are appreciated!

Last night (10/3/24-early AM of 10/4/24) there were 2-3 extremely loud explosions starting at about 11 PM I think, but I can't find any kind of news or comments or posts on it on any website. The only people talking about it are on the posts on the Ring camera app. I'm coming from the Goodyear Heights area, and no one else I know in Akron seemed to hear it. Someone said it may have been a firework, but I've never heard a firework sound like that. Did anyone else experience this?
I got three extra tickets to the Akron U vs Xavier soccer game tonight at 7:00 pm (in the main stands at mid-field) Just meet me at the gate and walk in. FREE!
Moving to Akron. Exploring the possibility of my high schooler taking the bus to school 3 days a week (she attends a private school)
Is it safe to assume that the bus generally runs on time?
What about safety concerns in the 7am hour on weekdays?
I know obviously things can happen, but just trying to get a sense if we can rely on the bus as a safe/reliable option
Hii! I’m a photography major and need some help with a project. I plan to take pics of places around Akron or surrounding areas that have been abandoned, closed down, moved or changed in any way etc.. if anyone has suggestions of places they grew up visiting a lot that has changed or shut down and would be cool to shoot some pics of I’d love some recommendations! I’m not from Ohio so i don’t have personal experience with these things changing as I grew up so all I can do is look around and try to find some! Bonus points if I could find any old pictures on google or someplace else of what they used to look like before! The few thoughts I have so far that I’d be able to find pictures of are the civic, Goodyear building, Stan hywet maybe ? any historical buildings/statues/houses etc.. that I could look into the history of would be cool :) Thanks !
I’m looking at apartments and want some local feedback from them because I can’t find much online. Also if anyone has recommendations feel free to suggest some.

Hi I'm flying with my family of 4 to CAK airport on a Saturday around 6pm. I need an Uber to take us up to Hopkins airport to pick up our rental car. Is Uber pretty reliable there, or should I make other plans?
just wanted to put this in here in case anyone is struggling :)
Like the kind where I do the spraying and washing and they just have hanging hoses?
Is there a word for this that might help in my search?
I don't want to take my car through a normal one until my mechanic looks at it next week, and I also have some gross outside items that would just be easier to do at a place like that vs my house.
Would be extra fantastic if it was hot or warm water. If I ever get rich I want a hot water line for outside my home, do a lot of crafts where this would be incredible.
Thanks!
I'm in the Highland Square area, unexpected moving and i need to be out in the span of the next week or i face consequences. I need boxes or containers for my storage unit. I don't have a car so preferably somewhere in Highland.
I don't know how I'm gonna even move all my stuff out in such short notice, but this is a start so I can begin packing.
Thank yall in advance
I was just looking for any info about technical schools for radiology or more specifically a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer associates. I don’t necessarily want a bachelors and I am more so seeking info about program pre reqs and about of time/length of the program. Also I would more than likely have to pay completely out of pocket so cost is also a big factor. The closest big city to me is Akron. Thank you in advance!!
As a student at the University of Akron, I am already stretched thin by the financial pressures of pursuing higher education. With tuition costs hovering around $20,000 per year, every dollar counts. On top of this, the recent privatization of our parking facilities has led to U Akron Park charging an additional $500 annually just for commuter parking. This extra expense is significant, and it’s time for a change. The average college student graduates with roughly $30,000 in debt, often balancing multiple jobs to make ends meet. Adding exorbitant parking fees to this burden feels unnecessarily harsh. We shouldn’t have to face steep parking costs on top of tuition and loans.
With this petition, we call on the University of Akron and U Akron Park to reassess their parking fee policies and work towards reducing these charges. Our campus should be accessible to all students, not just those who can afford inflated parking fees. We urge the University to recognize the financial challenges students face and take immediate action to relieve this unnecessary strain. Please sign this petition to support the reduction of parking fees at the University of Akron.
I’ve found two current reviews and nothing else! The prices seem pretty cheap, so that makes me nervous. Let me know what your experience has been!
I have a wife that doesn't do well with eggs, so pancakes, bacon all that yummy stuff

Have a family member about to start high school next year. They currently go to Copley middle school and overall pretty happy with it. Copley has great class sizes and pretty good responsiveness from staff, which has been really important for the student that had a lot of mental health/anxiety/absence issues at school. They are an excellent student with all, so Copley just continued to work with them.
However, some of these struggles with a traditional school has them looking at options for high school. The student is very in the theater their entire life and has expressed some interest in Firestone’s school of arts. I know someone that did the middle school version at Miller South, they raved about it. But I don’t know anyone that’s going on to do the high school. And idea of going through a whole process to audition and transfer to a school that has much lower rankings (not that stuff is everything obviously) and seemingly much worse classroom sizes does seem questionable. Not to mention it seems definite there would be more of a safety issue with fights, guns and things like that at Firestone (although nowhere seems that safe anymore).
Curious if anyone has any response or direct comparison examples.
Or any thoughts just on that arts program? Like is it own bubble at the school with just those kids or they part of the high school?
There’s gonna be an open house where we’re going to get more slow eventually, but they’re obviously gonna put their best spin on everything then. Any real life pros/cons would be awesome
My roommate and I are moving to the Cuyahoga Falls/Akron area. We have not seen many apartments that fit what we are looking for in a place. I have viewed almost all of your Reddit threads about this matter and found most suggestions are out of our price range. Cascade Falls seems nice but they will not give us a rough estimate of how much utilities cost. Does anybody know what the utilities there are for a two bedroom? Does anyone have any information about Pine Mill ridge? The website has little to no information and the number to call directs you to the website. It states that utilities are included except for electricity. I saw no information about dogs but the google reviews have dogs in them so I'm confused on whether they're ok or not. Any information helps! Please be nice or don't comment! Thanks!
Please God, two of the same ads on YouTube just minutes apart? Every ad break on the radio? Hulu? Please I am begging you spend the ad budget on literally anything else pleaaaasseeee.
It's also distressing asf hearing the transphobia every single day as a trans woman. Like holy shit I swear conservatives think about trans people more than we do
Hello - I will be in town for work for a few days and I am in dire need of a dip mani and a pedi. I’ll be working in Uniontown and staying in Hartville so somewhere within 30 mins that area would be great. Any good shops you recommend?
What would one expect their water/sewer bill to be as a resident with a family of 4 (2 kids)? I've researched electric and gas. Is there anything else besides water and sewer? These are combined, correct? What is the average?

Looking for apartment recs in akron + surrounding areas!
I want to be no more than 20 mins from work (summa akron campus), I also have an electric car (tesla) so EV charging would be ideal! I've looked at The Goodrich but the parking situation doesn't seem ideal, plus rent is pretty high. Anybody have experiences with Heron Springs or French Mill apartments? I really don't want to have to commute to a charging station, so I would appreciate any other recommendations/input for those who also have electric cars and live in apartments!
Anyone know what was up with all the cops in that area? Saw it around 3:30 pm.
