Hello everyone! I have an interview with OSU College of Medicine in the next few days and I know that one of the questions they ask is "Why Ohio/Columbus?".
Some background about me:
I come from a very deprived background living in the Bay Area. It is why I want to become a doctor so that I can provide care for underserved families because having proper healthcare is vital for a person's ability to forward their lives, be family members and play a part in their community. I also love the outdoors and I played many sports (football, wrestling). OSU is awesome because it is a large school with excellent sports programs and I went to a very small college with no sports teams that I like to watch.
I am hoping to receive information about how my personal background fits with Columbus and if anybody could steer me in the right direction. I bet they will appreciate that I bring up specific programs. Thank you!
I’m “sensitive groups” and when we got the smoke from Canada I ended up in the hospital. I know the air quality has improved, but I know with the Canada fires it went up and down a lot.
So, is there any info on how much we will potentially be impacted?
I figured the health department would be the one to eventually shut them down, but no! I looked up city health inspection records and they passed the August inspection. Their biryani was a guilty pleasure of mine and the samosas were the bomb.
Wrong angle for sight but the other pillar is mostly down
Are there any Brazilian markets around Columbus? I had a friend from Brazil about 10 years ago and there was a market we used to go to off of either 161 or Morse. I can’t remember which, but I think it closed down. You could go in and they would cook you a really good size Feijoada.
What about restaurants? Its not something you really hear about. I know there is Rodizio and Texas de Brasil, but is there something a little more affordable?
Anyone go this concert and leave feeling like it was a weird vibe? Lighting was weird and not really on them. They didn’t sound very good.
Just curious what everyone else’s thoughts are.
Feel free to share other good deals you see for Veterans Day
Looking for a female room mate. Apartment in Grandview. I am a 28 years old (F) grad student. DM me if interested. Thanks:)
Apologies if this has already been asked, I’ve been off social media for my health since Tuesday.
Have there been any community meet ups for women to grieve with each other? Can’t think of a better name atm, but I’m scared for the future and the likelihood of reproductive, same sex marriage, and other civil rights being revoked. So I learned the last time, the best remedy for fear is community. Friendship bracelets are back and idgaf what others think, it’s an exchange of kindness.
Men who support women would absolutely be welcomed, and perhaps serve as a much needed shield from inevitable misogynist attacks during our attempts to heal.
Edit: just to clarify, the “shield” I referenced is nothing more than men standing in front of and physically blocking our view of hatred.
Not a best friend but a casual friends. I'm usually a loner and enjoy doing things myself but I wouldn't mind doing something with someone else. Coming from Florida.
I'm introverted, curious, honest, open minded. I'm open to being friends with both genders, all races, religion, political party and any other human category as long as you're not an extremist.
I like to go hiking, biking, exploring new places, visiting museums, video gaming, reading, poker (not a hardcore poker player. I play just for fun), learning German. I'm also down to do things like fishing and other things my friends are into even if I'm not that interested in them. A coworker once took me to this nerdy card game meeting and I had fun.
I'm also into motorcycles, ATVs, guns, marvel stuff (mostly related to spiderman).
This is from last week so it must have been a recent change. I've been going every couple weeks for about a year and getting this burrito so I hope that other post was just a fluke!
…but turn on your bloody headlights in downpours, your grey sedan is very hard to see under a wall of water
Yes, yes, I know, another pizza post. I keep seeing people recommending “Grandma’s Pizza” but it looks like there are 2 different businesses:
Which is the one people rant and rave about? (inb4 The Office Pizza by Alfredo jokes)
Also yes, I know people love Grandad’s Pizza. I do too.
Hi all, hoping I can get your help for getting a custom shed built in my backyard. I've seen a number of really nice prefab options but I need a company that can work with me for some weird details about my needs.
I'm on a well and the pump and tank are currently in a pretty solid box in my backyard but it has some problems. It's old, waist high(making it hard to access) and generally I want something better built and more insulated. I may even look into putting a concrete pad on it so I can get the area sealed better against moisture and bugs.
Are there any companies I could work with that would have some expertise(it's a weird situation) and be able to work with me on this? I understand something this custom, especially with a potential concrete pad, could end up costing a few grand or more
I am looking for a logic tutor for my son. He is 16 years old, but is going to Columbus State and is currently taking a logic course which he is really struggling with. He finds it very difficult to learn over zoom and so I am really hoping to find a local tutor who could meet him at the library once a week at least. I am hoping for someone with a background in mathematics and experience as a tutor. Any help is appreciated!
Hey y’all! I’m looking for a good baker for breads, loafs and bagels in bulk; grocery stores bakeries are very lackluster in their selections, and most coffee stores only sell sandwiches
GIVE ME YOUR BEST BAKERS!
Hi there! Looking for takeout ideas - open to any type of food except pizza. Looking to feed 4 people and wanting something that travels well (around 30 minutes). Anything north or east would be nice (Gahanna, Reynoldsburg, Whitehall, Westerville, Worthington areas). Thanks!
I already have a recent eye exam, but eyemart express is too high😭
Hi /r/Columbus!
I'm in the middle of making a more full-featured weather thing, but the first interim step is to make a city-specific weather forecast video. It's been running for a little while, but I haven't told many people about it.
The way it works is that it consumes raw weather data from the National Weather Service, National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration, and others, and it uses AI to take that raw data and present it to humans. There is no novel AI happening here. All of the data comes directly from trusted sources. You can read a little more about what's happening on our page: https://www.lwnn.news/our-technology
Well, I'm telling you, because I'd like to make it better. You can find (and subscribe) to it on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/@ColumbusOH-LWNN
Here are the things I'm interested in hearing from you:
Is the AI too wordy? Like, are the broadcasts too long?
Do you like the format? What would be a better format?
What other content would you like to see in a video like this?
What other changes would you make?
Thanks in advance everyone! I've been working on this for a few months and I'm excited to have everyone look at it and tell me what they think, even if they think it sucks (ESPECIALLY if they think it sucks and they can tell me why).
Have a great Sunday!
--Matt
Just curious if it's reliable?
