Hidden gems in the Cleveland Metroparks -- Big Creek and West Creek Reservations; any others not well known?

Due to the following post, discovered Lake Isaac, a glacial pothole apparently abounding with wildlife, in the Big Creek Reservation.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/1g4qdoi/best_time_of_year/

Reading the above review of the Lake Isaac area, I learned that there wild minks in Cuyahoga County, which was a revelation. Searching for more information about the Big Creek Reservation, I discovered this thread about minks in Cuyahoga County and apparently northern Ohio.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/1dx2j8m/this_mink_was_hunting_in_big_creek_are_you_as/

Also discovered several posts about the Cleveland Metroparks West Creek Reservation in Parma. Also looks like an excellent destination for fall colors (have a hunch a telephoto lens was used to capture the following image).

Update. Orginal post - "BMV doesn't like my legal name or my out-of-state title. Help?"

First, I appreciate all the people who took the time to comment on the post and DM me with helpful information. Posting a quick update. in case anyone else runs into this problem. Link to original post -

https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/1fm1toc/bmv_doesnt_like_my_legal_name_or_my_outofstate/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

In the end, it took just one lovely person and her supervisor at the BMV to fix it all.

I called the courthouse to find out if there was a waiting period between changing my name to what the BMV said it had to be, and then back to what is already is and the gal who answered the phone was floored when I told her why. She said, and I quote, "that's ridiculous. We don't make people get remarried, re-divorced, or re-adopted when they move here. The BMV doesn't get to decide what your name is when you move here, either. Go back to the BMV and talk to a supervisor." For good measure, I called the DMV back in Virginia to ask if they had something they could send me to take back to the BMV and they laughed and said "you still have your VA license? That's what we give you. Take that and tell them to call Richmond if they need to verify what the little star in the corner means."

With that, I went back to the BMV and brought all of my documents again. We were done within maybe 15 minutes. The woman behind the counter got her supervisor to sign off on it and they did a name correction and that was it. Finally was able to get my cars registered and I have to say this, too - the default license plates are absolutely gorgeous compared to Virginia's. I couldn't believe I didn't have to pay extra for those.

Suggestions for a good western lookout spot to see the comet & super moon

I live in the Strongsville area which is flat and full of trees, so I’m in need of suggestions for a clear high point in the North Royalton/Broadview Heights area for a view of the comet and super moon. Thanks in advance.

Selling Adam Ray @Hilarities 10/17 7pm SOLD OUT

Hello everyone, last month I bought two tickets to see Adam Ray at Hilarities tomorrow night, not knowing the Guardians would have a home playoff game. My gf and I are trying to go the game instead, is anyone interested in buying my tickets off me? 2 premium tickets, paid $60 total. I am able to coordinate the exchange through Hilarities box office, you’d just need to show an ID upon arrival.

A sad day for the Cleveland skateboard scene

Tri-Star has been my go-to skate shop for the past 16 years, so it's tough to see a small business that brought so much joy, memories, and positive contributions to our community close its doors.

Crab Fried Rice

I mean Cleveland we have to do better on the seafood. I cannot find anywhere that has crab fried rice and I’m willing to drive, bike, or swim to get some. Any suggestions?!

Edit: I’m aware of all the imitation crab imposters for under 10 bucks. I’m looking for the real deal guys with authentic crab fyi. Raan Thai looks to maybe be have the quality stuff. Will report back.

Not to keep beating the dead horse about broken car windows. But there are people quite literally just driving around and smashing them because they can.

This was via the citizen app last night/this morning near west 70th. I called and made a police report, even though i know full well they won’t do anything, but moreso to keep pushing the issue with them until something is done.

Par 3 Golf Courses?

Weather is looking decent this weekend, and I wanted to take my 11 y/o golfing. We’ve played a public course in Wickliffe, which was a dump, but perfect for him, since he’s only played 2x.

Ideally looking for a par 3 or short or 4 course that is either easy to get a tee time or you can walk on. East side preferred. Thanks in advance!

Conservatives are muddying the water on Issue 1. A YES vote will ban the gerrymandering we are suffering (hello, ‘snake on the lake’) and set up a new, fair system for drawing voting districts. A NO means no changes to our current situation. Their yard signs LIE. More in comments.

Best place to buy masquerade mask (Etsy is my last resort; was hoping to find a local spot where I can go in and see different masks)??

Tis the season! I have a sexy pirate costume already (boring and basic af, I know, but I enjoy being a sexy pirate so leemelone about it) and am hoping to find a pretty, lacy, racy masquerade mask for a show I’m going to next Thursday.

Thanks in advance!

Hobby?

I saw this crazy statistic saying adults spend about $250 a year on hobby’s of their own interest….. so the question is, what’s your hobby? And how much do you spend on it yearly?

Anyone interested in tickets for the Everclear show tonight?

I have 4 GA tickets that I'm not able to use. I don't want them to go to waste. If you're interested, make an offer.

Help

I'm in Cleveland on business (transportation) and I can't seem to find chewing tobacco down here. Would anybody be able to point me in the direction of a store? I'm currently postured at the McDonald's on East 82nd and Euclid.

Buddies visiting Cleveland for weekend recs

Hey guys, 3 buddies and I do an annual trip to a random nfl game in a new city. (Random because we base it on our calendars and ease to get to the city versus the teams or match up)

We’re looking for recs for meals on Friday evening and Saturday all 3 meals.

We typically like spots that have a really strong local flavor and are kind of old established places that locals love that are also convenient.

This is opposed to fine dining or really interesting new culinary experiences; or like chains or places that feel like they could be anywhere.

Cuisine doesn’t matter (ie could be burgers or Mexican or pizza or Italian or seafood or whatever) but can you make some recs of spots that are really “qunintessentially Cleveland”

Thanks all! Ps-well be rooting for the Browns on sunday!

Hartville Flea Market

Hartville Flea Market

For those of you who sell at or frequent this flea market, is it still busy on Saturdays outdoors even this late in the year? I want to sell here in a couple of Saturdays, having done so in years past, but never this late in the year. It's a bit of a drive, so I only do this rarely and again, it's always been summer before.

Daycare recommendation

Looking for daycare recs in and close to the city. Husband and I are planning on moving to Cleveland in about 1 year. We have a 2yo who will be 3 when we move, then we will probably have a new baby by that time.

Edit: we are looking at a few places for living so any recs are good, Lakewood, Euclid, Shaker/Cleveland Heights are a few places among many. It’s far out so we haven’t narrowed it down yet but know with daycare you have to plan in advance
