Looking for a place on the east end to get just a cheap trim. All the places iv looked at on Google say about 40-60$ basically just to shave the side of my head and trim the length part of my hair, which is kinda outrageous, imo.
Any idea what’s going on up there? Pulled in to a bunch of screaming and people gathered near the garden section, not sure if someone was hit
I moved to Pittsburgh in August and now (October)I got itchy rash patches all over my body for the first time in my life.
I got it on my face, patches on my arm, body, thigh, etc. I just can’t figure out what is causing it.
I have been using the same products for everything. Does anyone have similar rash during the same time and know what it is?
Hi all! As the title implies, I’m looking for Veteran’s Day deals at local restaurants/businesses. There’s a list a mile long online of various chains that have deals, but I’d much rather go out and support local businesses instead. Thanks!
First off, let me preface this by saying I’m not about to start grumping at the noise or the fussin’ and cussin’. Feel free, that’s not why I’m posting this.
All I’m asking is that if you’re going to listen to your music whilst your train before a game, can you stick on some stuff we can all enjoy? I live nearby and I can’t take listening to the same 4 mumble rappers every weekend😂😂😂
Here’s some acceptable hip hop and grime that we can all enjoy:
Kneecap (more Kneecap, please) Kendrick Wu Tang and any of their solo efforts MF DOOM Freddie Gibbs Jay Eletronica Tribe Called Quest Mobb Deep M.O.P. Beastie Boys De La Soul Stormzy Skepta J.M.E Giggs Young Fathers
Anyway, thanks for listening😁
Is it always the crowded? Holy shit. I’m from out of town, just wanted on seeing if it’s an event or something.
We thought maybe they just didn't have the display up yet but we were told they don't sell Christmas decor anymore. So many childhood memories of seeing the trees displayed in the windows. I guess I'll go to the Arby's to wallow in my sadness.
Good morning!
My apologies if this is a reach but I need help and Google is overwhelming me today. I am looking for job leads- could be anything from seasonal to remote/hybrid to full-time. I have a degree in criminal justice and anthropology and have previously worked in various jobs like digital marketing, digital publication, customer service, childcare, and retail. My interests? Paying my bills (lol)
If anyone has any leads or has the inside scoop on anyone hiring, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Hi! My grandma has Alzheimers and requires memory care. Does anyone have any recommendations that you have personal/familial experience with for a facility? She's currently at Villa Saint Joseph's in Baden. We want to say within a half hour of like Cranberry Twp area. Thank you!
Hello, I'm 36(M) a new player looking for a group that does sessions on Friday or Saturday evenings. I'm new to the game so but I have a decent understanding of the game. I'd prefer in person so I can have a social life again. Anywhere in the city or surrounding area. I don't mind driving far for it.
Long story short, I followed a car last night that was clearly a DUI/DWI driver. The car was swerving all over the rocks bridge, and I watched cars in the other lane slam their brakes and swerve to avoid a head-on collision. I had it in mind to call 911, and as I kept following, the car turned onto the first left past the Stowe tunnel and parked up the road. The driver immediately passed out face-first onto the steering wheel and would not wake up to honking or banging on the window. Lights and engine still running.
So I called 911. To be extra clear, I'm not a guy who's out there trying to play policeman and get people tossed in jail. This person was genuinely in distress immediately after causing mayhem on the roads, and when I couldn't even wake the up, I knew this wasn't a scene I could just walk away from, so I called for help.
The cops arrived and had to assist her from her car into her house (which is apparently where we arrived at). She almost fell over getting out of the car, throwing up when she opened the door.
But the police said they could not smell alcohol. The officer told me that "recent case law" says that they can't even breath test someone if they weren't witnessed actively driving the vehicle.
This is pretty much counter to everything I learned about DUI law since I was a kid. I learned that if you're drunk behind the wheel in PA with the keys in the car, that's a DUI.
Does this mean we can sleep drunk in our cars now? Does anyone have a clue what "recent case law" this might refer to? I'm glad this lady is OK and didn't harm anyone, but holy shit this incident is sticking out in my head.
I’ve been looking for things to do in and around downtown. Is there some social media account/news station where I can figure out what there is to do?
I’m getting together with a group of about 20 women next Saturday to start to brainstorm an action plan for the next 2 years (prep for 2026 mid term elections) and I had an idea to approach my local parks and rec about offering a class on basic economics and US government. But, people have to pay for those (it’s cheap, but still) and I would love to figure out how to organize volunteers to offer these classes for free in the community. I’m pretty good at finding donors so I’m pretty confident we could entice people with free coffee, food, or childcare. My issue is I don’t know where to find the people that know the most about these issues. I’m sure I could educate myself and pass the info along, but we’d have a lot more credibility if say, a professor of economics, or someone in actuarial science, or someone who has worked for an actual political campaign was the one at the front of the class. I’m not thinking anything too complicated. Maybe a 4 part series, an hour long, high school level education for folk like me that completely forgot everything they learned in school OR never learned it in the first place. I think we’re seeing the results of an extremely uneducated half of our country voting with their pocketbook under the guise that “tariffs” for example, are going to save them. If you have ideas, know someone local, etc please message me!
Hey there, I'm part of the Pittsburgh diaspora and I haven't been there since 1984, but for one brief visit in 2009. I have forgotten what the old trench system pathways are called. it's been two years I have been trying to think of the term, The ...s ...? I see on Google maps there is a cafe right there now. We used to go down into the ditches to get high. I especially liked shuffling through the wet gravel on a foggy winter day with the old brick walls all around, and feeling like no one else was in the world.
New-ish to the area and looking for the best place to get a mens cut. Ideally it has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. I’ve typically been more drawn to salons for the atmosphere but open to barber shops as well if the vibe is right.
I put together a crossword puzzle themed around different neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, with a some other locally-oriented clues in the fill. I had initially done this to celebrate the completion of East End Brewing's neighborhood beer series, but I thought other people might enjoy playing it too:
I’ve been pretty disappointed at the food I’ve had since I started my semester here. I’ve went to a few of the Yelp recommended places like Tako and Kaya, in Oakland I’ve been to oishii bento, k-town snack bar, Mount Everest sushi and jj poke, they’ve all been disappointing and overpriced. For such highly rated spots, I would’ve expected way more, coming from the bay, people in Pittsburgh probably have different expectations when it comes to Asian food, but I thought it would be better since people have told me Pittsburgh is a pretty good spot for food. Anyone know any better spots? I’m looking for maybe some korean fried chicken, Thai, or dim sum.
Hello friends, I know there are a lot of places to find pinball machines around - I'm looking for a place that has a copy of Funhouse specifically.
Thanks for any help!
