Although not directly related to the city itself.. hoping to find some info..
I cleaned out several books that I wanna take to Half Price Books in the North Hills.
Today is the day I would like to do that !
I would be coming from Beaver County — taking the PA turnpike or 228 to eventually hop in 79/279S to 19.
I was only passively listening to the KDKA news yesterday AM when they reviewed the road closures.
I’m not concerned about the Turnpike or 228… I am wondering if anybody thinks there will be closures on 79 /279?
Alternatively… I suppose I could get on 19 in cranberry but the traffic lights the whole way just seem really inefficient .
Anybody remember Sodini's in Squirrel Hill (1970s)?
Anyone know where I can buy any NBA jerseys from any team in Pittsburgh? Like any stores or anything?
Hi so the ceiling fan in one of my rooms keeps blowing a fuse. The first time it sparked and the lights went out in like a 3rd of the house and now if you flip the switch the fuse will just blow out again but it’s only for the ceiling fan. If you use anything else like the tv or something it’s fine.
It’s been up for more than a year and it’s just now causing problems. Anyone know why this is just now happening and should I just call an electrician? Thanks.
Looking for any recommendations on amazing event spaces to rent for a very important celebration in November?? I'm desperately trying to plan by myself. Please help and anything suggested I really appreciate!
I'm mid 40s, divorced with and out of dtate adult child. Been wanting to live in Lawrenceville for years and finally got my chance but a few weeks in I know I'm too old to be here. Where do go in a year when I want to be walkable to bars and restaurants but not the crypt keeper?
....I saw the whole thing, and the jackass taking off into the Liberty Tunnels instead of following you up McArdle.
Red Ford pickup truck, PA license plate ZSM-6165
Hope that can be of some help. Best of luck.
Hi everyone. Not sure where else to ask for guidance, so posting here. Apologies if it’s not meant for this community. My previous lease ended on 8/31. I provided my forwarding address on 7/29 via email, and I have yet to receive any communication (email or physical mail) from my previous landlord regarding my security deposit - not even an acknowledgement of my email containing the forwarding address. I’m curious on what my next steps are as they have not returned my security deposit or communicated why they are not returning it. It’s an entire months rent, so it definitely would help to have that back. Again, I apologize if this is an inappropriate place to post this question.
My partner’s birthday is next month and all she wants is a blueberry pie! Any recommendations on the best local pies? I have many bakeries I love but haven’t tried any pie!

Does anyone know of a place in or around Pittsburgh where I could safely practice balancing and paddling in a relatively unstable kayak? Perhaps a large indoor pool that has classes for beginners, or just a relatively clean, shallow, quiet river / stream / lake? If I'm likely to flip, I'd rather not have it occur on the Allegheny or Mon.
For some added detail, I'm actually a semi-regular kayaker on the Allegheny and Mon rivers around Pittsburgh, but I typically use a very stable 12 foot kayak. However, I also own a 14 foot kayak with a VERY soft chine that I nearly tipped over the one and only time that I ever had it in the water. In fact, I was never even able to paddle away from the dock and just simply sat there for 30 minutes practicing balancing on the water in this kayak since it's so drastically different from my normal kayak.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Is there a fireworks show going on tonight somewhere? Hearing tons and tons of fireworks but can’t see anything.
I just redid my retaining wall and have a ton of left over dirt and concrete blocks but no truck/way to haul it out. Does anyone know a company that'll take it for a reasonable price? No one wanted it on marketplace or Craigslist.
I am distraught after De Fer in the Strip District stopped making their in-house cheese board… Anyways, where can I go to find a goddamn casual cheese board / charcuterie plate?
We’re going to the tailgate on Sunday but couldn’t figure out if dogs are allowed to join. We’re strictly going for the tailgate and will be in the gold lot. Has anyone been before and know whether or not dogs are allowed?
I want to treat myself to a delicious buttercream cake that actually tastes buttery and creamy, not plastic or shortening for my bday. I don’t think I have found it, unless it’s homemade by someone. Where do I go?? I don’t think Potomac bakery, any cake from grocery stores, oakmont bakery is the answer (tried them and nah). Batram is close but still not 100%.
Picture could have better but this was 1500 feet above Mt Washington today at 6:30am.
If you don’t want to be bothered by canvassers, just put up a piece of paper that says no soliciting/ no canvassing. You’ll be marked refused/hostile and shouldn’t be bothered again.
If you do see someone put election material in your mailbox that’s not a postal worker, report it as it’s illegal.
I do get folks are exhausted but I also hope that people can appreciate why there are GOTV efforts, especially in PA.
I read a few posts about cones being put out to reserve a parking spot, but I feel it is way out of hand. I have been living in Pittsburgh for a couple years now, but I moved into a new neighborhood just right of the city and the cones have been ridiculous. During the winter it made sense to reserve a spot that you shoveled the snow out of, but reserving cones all year round is ridiculous. Most of the people i have spoke with tell me that they are against it and just let it be and I have also read that people remove them themselves, but I do not wanna risk my car being messed with. I see that this is a very controversial topic and I just wanna see if theres a solution to this. Without the risk of being attacked by one of my neighbors. Can I call the cops to remove them? Or is that too far? Or do the cops not care?
