Haven’t been super happy with the teams success so far but I think they’re taking strides, I’m not worried.
But KAT has been phenomenal, hustling his tail off, scoring inside and out, snatching rebounds every play. Last night he stayed after to practice FTs AND in post-game interviews he blamed himself for the loss saying if he knocked down his free throws we win.
I love KAT so far, and I believe we’re gonna be just fine, we’re running an entirely new starting lineup this season. Last seasons start was pretty bad too lol. I can’t wait to see KAT turning up in MSG in the playoffs bro, it’s gonna be incredible.
This is kind of a question just for old heads, but do you all find that the Internet — specifically Twitter makes it more difficult to stomach these losses? I remember back when Melo was playing and we lost a “heartbreaker“ It was a similar situation, but it wasn’t nearly as punishing as it was now. It used to be kind of shook it off and said, “you know what?? good game.” I mean, beginning of the regular season. We practically won. Maybe you commiserated about it at work the next day but that was that. Nowadays, the loss is everywhere you look. People are clowning you, bricks center is roasting your favorite player. It’s all kind of un escapable. Twitter was so different back in the day. It wasn’t wall-to-wall videos, Plus, people were on it less. I didn’t have to watch the lowlights on my motorola razr lol. We all follow these knicks fan accounts. That feeling of community is so great when you’re having a run like we had against Philly in the playoffs. But the reality of those accounts is that the people who run them literally run on New York basketball 24/7 so when they lose it gets brutal. They talk about blowing everything up, they hate on our players, and the players see it all. I honestly don’t know if it’s better or worse.
Tickets for sale (haven't seen thread for this week) 11/15 Sec 103 Row 8 - 2 $225/ea
Some commentary on Mitch and his situation, apologies if it’s too long!
Robinson’s strengths and weaknesses are well-known. He’s a high-level defensive centre, transformed from what we might call an erratic yet potent shot blocker, into a mature and savvy interior defender (we may add ‘lockdown’ between savvy and interior); how he defended an Embiid who torched iHart in the Playoffs is testament to that. He’s an elite rebounder, and unequivocally the best offensive rebounder in the league; this is a major boost for the offense with all the extra possessions it allows. It feels as though a lot of the Mitch ‘does nothing but catch lobs’ discourse can ignore just how much value a seemingly endless extra number of possessions provides. In a more negative light, he’s a terrible FT shooter, and so that raises natural questions re. his viability in closing lineups. In parallel, he doesn’t shoot outside of the restricted area so there are spacing issues. And of course, he has a seemingly endless list of injury problems.
My question here is, after watching the Knicks’ opening 11 games, do you think the argument to trade Mitch so someone healthy can take up his contract slot has lost some validity? In other words, should we take the risk on Robinson’s health with a view that he rectifies many of our current issues (with Precious)? Perhaps we’re sat here in March and Mitch has suffered a 6-7 month injury and all is lost. But I’m of the persuasion that we ride it out with him, the allure of his defense + rebounding has got me after these opening 11. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say no Mitch has cost us a couple of wins already, Lol. I’d very much be worried about bringing in an inferior player for the sake of using Mitch’s salary slot on a healthy body.
There will be inevitable questions about his fit with KAT (Mitch fits with everyone currently playing), but I don’t really see that as a problem. KAT won’t play the 4 for extended periods unless it’s matchup specific, and it’s not like Mitch will hog 38 minutes at C anyway.
What are your thoughts on all of this?
Anybody know where we rank on perimeter defence so far? What are teams 3 point percentage on us right now?
Did anyone else notice that they got rid of the timer in the MSG 150 halftime thing. It ruins it for me. You don't have the sense that he's cramming in all this stuff/beating the timer. I wonder if Bill Pidto just couldn't handle the pressure lol
Daily discussion thread for Knicks fans.
One thing that makes no sense is this one sided take that any negative criticism/expectations are an over reaction. The warriors are 9-2 and many are calling them title contenders, is that an over reaction? Many people feel like the Nets could make it to the play in tournament, is that an over reaction?
Why is it when it's positive expectation to what we have seen so far no one say's 'It's only 11 games'? Fans who are reacting negatively to the short comings of the knicks or whatever their favorite team may be, is just as valid as a positive take/expectation. Fans are not wrong to see the faults, weaknesses, lack of chemistry and come to the conclusion that this team is not good enough. I'm sure Bucks fans were convincing themselves last season that everything would work out next season, but it clearly hasn't.
Point being, we don't know. The knicks can finish the season 50 plus wins or at 41 wins (or less). Fans are not wrong to be concerned or even feel like 10 games is enough to decide for themselves if this team is actually a title contender.
Fan's that try to stop other fans from criticizing and having negative expectations, comes from an insecure place. We all love this team but when some fans see legitimate criticisms their own rebuttal is 'Your over reacting' , 'It's only 11 games'.
But if the Knicks were 8-3 right now most of this sub would cry that we are finals bound.
This is the most worrisome stat to me. KAT is having a monster year, JB is still putting up 25, and Mikal and OG are around what they put up a game as well with Hart having a career year yet we still have a losing record.
Hello Knicks fans, Wolves fan here.
All of you guys that want Randle back can have him. You can have him for free. You can even have DDV. Just please take him back.
That’s all.
Does it have to do with the Knicks maybe putting the refs on blast with the stat sheets?
The Wolves are struggling and need a change, DDV has been bad for them so they’ll be glad to get rid of him, and Mikal is a great fit with ANT
Losing NAW would be a huge blow to them, but at the end of the day he’s already 26 and he’s only averaging like 8ppg, I don’t think they would lose the chance at gaining Mikal over NAW
And if you tell me Mitchell Robinson's return will solve our issues...lol this guy is injured every freakin month.
If that's our solution we're screwed. No Bridges is not a ln elite defensive player he's so overrated it's ridiculous
If this was the NFL season…
We’d be 1-1 and heading into game 3 right now
R-e-l-a-x
If you can’t see the potential of this team then you are blind. Do they have defensive issues currently - absolutely. But the personnel is elite. They will get there with time.
Wake me up at the ASB and if we’re under .500 by then maybe I’ll have concern.
No slander will be tolerated. No more rim protection nonsense. We got enough slander to throw around to everyone else on the team. He’s been our best player by far consistently. I take back all the Soft jokes I said.
Game 11 --- CHI L 123-124--- Record: 5-6
Depression turns to hope turns to Hartbreak. Disappointing loss after KAT erases a 20-point deficit.
Game 10 --- PHI W 111-99 --- Record: 5-5
Satisfying win. Over the Sixers. Time to start the OG All-Star propaganda.
Game 09 --- IND L 121-132 --- Record: 4-5
Exhausted. Brutal 4th quarter collapse.
Game 08 --- MIL W 116-94 --- Record: 4-4
Winning and grinning. Nice comfortable win. Doc on fraud alert 🚨.
Game 07 --- ATL L 116-121 --- Record: 3-4
🧂🧂🧂
Game 06 --- HOU L 97-109 --- Record: 3-3
Disappointed. Hero ball fail. Bench didn’t show up.
Game 05 --- DET W 128-98 --- Record: 3-2
Feeling pretty damn good. This is the team we were expecting. Thibs don’t ever change.
Game 04 --- MIA W 116-107 --- Record: 2-2
The KAT game - 44pts.
Game 03 --- CLE L 110-104 --- Record: 1-2
Towns and Brunson 1-5 from three. Not each. Combined.
Game 02 --- IND W 123-98 --- Record: 1-1
Bridges and KAT doubters are real quiet right now. Almost as quiet as Haliburton at MSG.
Game 01 --- BOS L 109-132 --- Record: 0-1
Nobody hits 30 threes on the Knicks! Deuce for 6 moty.
That in and out just proved to me that they’re cursed
I applaud the come back but this is a trash bulls team that might not even be in the play-in at the end of the season.
Please stop making excuses for this team. They are mediocre. They win 1 and then lose 1. Expect to see this over and over for the rest of the season. They don't have the defense to sustain leads, so every game becomes a dog fight. They'll make the playoffs, but getting out of the first round may prove difficult. They will need changes to this roster to contend. Since they have few assets, they can't change much. They're not in a great position right now. Just trying to be a realist.
Hart man why are you going at Coby white from BEHIND I understand the hustle and I appreciate it but they’re calling that 9/10 if you’re tryna block him from that angle just let mans shoot he was like 1/10 from three tn. Really hope we can turn this around soon our roster is too good to be shitting the bed like this
What the title said… rough end to the game.
I'm so proud of these guys.
That is all
