I think discussion about moving Khris engenders some emotional responses from people (rightfully so, he helped deliver a championship) on both sides. We start talking past one another instead of to each other and lose the entire premise of the discussion.
Khris both IS a problem and ISN’T the problem.
In a vacuum, he is still a positive player, though he is clearly diminished. He was phenomenal last night though it didn’t translate to actually winning.
The problem is that his decline has come in parts of his game that the team cannot sustain, namely his defense, ball handling, and contract.
Khris when he’s actually shooting the ball is still elite, but his handle and his mobility is so obviously worse than what it was, he cant get many shots up. He has attempted 8 shots a game ever since being moved to the bench. His per 36 from the bench is roughly 12 shots a game.
That is simply not enough for a 31+ million player, especially one coming off the bench who’s supposed to have free-reign of the offense with the second unit. The utility in that case becomes marginal. He doesn’t do well facing up good defenders anymore, so his shots come off the catch or post ups. He sometimes does a left dribble pull-up, like once a game, but it’s not enough.
The same problem persists even with Dame, though it’s a function of the other team doubling him 5 feet out from the 3 point line. Khris’ being a worse ball handler and not being mobile enough to free himself for a pass means he doesn’t relieve that double team pressure like he used to.
That’s how you end up with games like last night where our big 3 was shooting well but we were still down big.
With all that said, Khris is still a positive player.
The problem is his contract is the only realistic way to fix our deficiencies. The Bucks simply don’t have any other salaries/assets to dangle for an impact player good at the things we need (mobile big and POA defense).
It’s not Khris fault, it’s the way the team is structured. His skill set is fully redundant for the Bucks.
We lost last night because our defense is putrid, no matter what the regular season defensive rating #s might suggest. There is no path to contention with Brook lopez and Bobby Portis playing meaningful minutes. Brook is an expiring so perhaps there’s a team out there willing to blow it up and give us a Myles Turner type, but I doubt it and early reports suggest the Bucks FO think Brook is a key piece to the team.
We have bad back-court defenders. Dame is no longer the liability he used to be, but he’s still not a stopper. Gary tries really hard but he doesn’t have the physical tools. Back-court defense is easy to hide if you have mobile bigs who can show, recover, and don’t have to play drop coverage. The Blazers did this in 2019 and put a top 10 defense around Dame & CJ McCollum and then sustained that defense even after nurkic went out for the season with Enes fucking Kanter as the starting big.
The bulls put a great defense around Lavine and Derozan. Cavs right now have a good defense around Mitchell and garland, neither of whom are good defenders.
Denver had a good defense around Jamal Murray and Jokic, even though they functionally played Jokic at the 1.
Back-court defense is just not as important as front court defense and switch-ability.
Khris is our only realistic option for solving this. Trading him for say, Andrew Wiggins, instantly makes us better even if Andrew is worse in a vacuum.
If there’s trades out there exclusively for Bobby and Brook than we should keep Khris, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Anyone know anything about Giannis' hat from an interview shown during the spurs game last night?
It was black hat, white stitching of a sketched drawing of a dog from the neck up.
I went to SmackDown last night before the Royal Rumble, wearing Bucks gear. You guys have shown up and been so kind to other Bucks fans (heck one even bought me a beer). Let’s keep the same energy tonight!
Hi! I’ve always thought that he should be a great coach, because of his work with some really great coaches, and having a great basketball IQ as a player.
So now, I wonder - how is he doing? Is he performing well in his first HC role?
Have been following this sub for a long time but dont get around to this sub very often. I want to preface this with zero malice or ill-will but I want to get a genuine feel of what this sub thinks of our olders players on the team. The trade deadline is rapidly approaching and from what I have gathered from "fans" aka twitter (obviously an awful source that I take zero credence towards) I wanted to get a feel for what the reddit bucks fan feel about our aging players. I mainly want to understand the vibes the sub is getting with Middleton, Lopez, and Connaughton. I know that Pat, Bobby, and Middleton have been popular names I have seen throw around in bullshit trade proposals.
Personally, I have wanted Lopez off the team for at least 3-4 years. Maybe its an vendetta and I don't really care what is regular season numbers are but I am so fed up watching him get torched in drop coverage in the playoffs by a point guard with an above average athleticism in the high pick and roll. I also feel like any Middleton trade rumors are silly because 34 wont sign off on it.
Sorry for the personal rant but I do really want to know what the sub thinks of 11, 23 and 24 in particular and what their best proposed course of action is.
Anybody have any insight on this? I only ask coz they never seem to shake hands after any of the games they've played, and i don't think I've heard Wemby send any praises Giannis' way after they play either. Could be totally wrong and doesn't mean anything either way, but was just a lil curious.
I feel like it could also just be hyper competitiveness on Wembys part too though. I know they're both true competitors and hate to lose.
2009 Finals lineup:
Rafer Alston Courtney Lee Hedo Turkoglu Rashard Lewis Dwight Howard
Then they blew up a well oiled machine for hot scorer Jameer Nelson (mid finals) instead of the more defensive Rafer Alston then blew up the team in offseason and signed an aging/older Vince Carter off a career year (a favorite player btw so not hating) and it was still a GOOD team but it lacked that championship core.
Sound familiar?
Alright y’all, I’m taking my mom to a game for her birthday, I just have some questions
Temperament towards fans against opposing teams. I’m not one to stray away from minor sports bullshitting, but I want my mom to have fun it’s her first game, and her favorite player is supposed to be there. I just wanna make sure she doesn’t get the Eagles treatment.
Any tips for downtown Milwaukee? Places to park, good restaurants near the stadium, and arrival times.
Any input is appreciated, I just want to make sure my mom has fun.
Pick him up. 1st round pick. Idc. Small ball center/ forward that shoots with defense. Better than brook / Bobby against athletic teams
Would take brooks spot in the future
100% Stole this meme from FB cuz I can't even Photoshop on MS paint. Give me a competent defensive lawd please
The team is trash and old. We have zero assets to improve and the young players aren’t good enough to build around him as he gets older. Another first round exit and I wouldn’t be shocked if we see giannis in Houston
We have no assets. Our front court is undersized. Dame plays zero defense, isn’t shooting 3s well at all. He’s useless when he’s being guarded by anyone 6’5” and above who’s under 30. (Which is a lot of the league) It’s realistically the best move to get a new young athletic roster. I hope I’m wrong and he steps it up in the playoffs, but I’ve yet to see it. He looks old.

Are these local TV games going to be available on YouTube TV? I remember last year I could never find them.
Nobody’s favorite Bucks fan is back again ready to say some ignorant shit that might or might not make sense. If any of y’all are down bad enough to be looking forward to this, I pity your poor soul. Now quick everyone hop in the speculationmobile and buckle tf up folks it’s a long(ish) one!
TLDR: OP doesn’t think trading Khris is the right move but there may be other win now moves to be made. If we were gonna trade Khash we should have done it 2 years ago before injuries sapped his value (and athleticism).
Win Now Move/Moves:
There are plenty of win now moves the Bucks could make that in theory are possible within the trade rules (as far as I’m aware). For the sake of sanity I’ll separate these possibilities into 3 tiers by how hard they’ll get this Stag’s pizzle (yes that’s a real term for deer penis that’s the only fact checking I did for this).
Tier 1: Chip or Bust
If Horst decides he’s ready to risk his employment for a single deadline buckle up Bucks fans shit will fly. In this scenario at least 3 of the Bucks trade candidates (BP, PC, KM, and MB) and maybe more will be moved, most likely in a multi team deal including the moist god himself. Whichever b-list star the Bucks are able to net in return (butler, Beal, Lavine, Grant, etc.) will definitely not vault the Bucks into contention alone. In this scenario, if Bobby is included in the Khash move Horst & co will almost certainly be on the phones frantically in search of a deal to package the leftovers for a serviceable backup big. I mean shit I’d be working the phones to find another big regardless I’ve all but lost faith in Bob the builder.
Everything considered, does my pizzle wiggle in the slightest at the idea of an all in, win now deadline? Nah not really 🤷🏼♂️. Lavine or Grant would be preferred of the names we’ve heard mentioned but if I’m not mistaken Lavine’s never been to the playoffs and his contribution to winning basketball is questionable at best. As for Grant he does have experience with Dame but he’s been pretty much middle of the road offensively and defensively throughout his career. I have a hard time believing he moves the needle but maybe 🤷🏼♂️.
Tier 2: Bust or Bust
This scenario essentially means the Bucks include Khash in a multi team deal and net one of the b-list stars listed above. While also making a margin move to evade taxes. I’ll reiterate this until I’m a dead man but none of the guys listed above move us from frisky first round exit to deep championship run.
This might be the worst possible attempt at a win now move as the franchise would be left in purgatory with little to no draft capital for a hot minute. While we haven’t discussed it yet, most trades that net the bucks a big name would likely include our only tradeable frp (maybe not Grant). If Horst fucks up this badly he may want to watch where he carries his auger cause he’ll be on some dangerously thin ice.
Tier 3: Bust or Must?
In this scenario the cream city crew keep Khash while concurrently offloading any tradeable assets in search of front court help. My pizzle personally was pining for a Nick Richards move but it looks like we got priced out pretty quickly. At this point Time Lord looks like a feasible get but he might be a couple more injuries away from a career in broadcasting. Some may also be quick to point out the differences in playstyle and fit between Time Lord and Bobby but I see a bench unit screaming for serviceable rim protection and an athletic lob threat (wet dreams of Giannis/Khris to Time Lord lobs commence). Will the bench miss Bobby’s spot up shooting and occasional self creation from the post? Probably 🤷🏼♂️. Would I rather see Ryan Rollins, AJ, and GTJ have sets run for them instead of Bobby? Yes please god yes! What would we have to include to get Time Lord or someone similar like Gafford (mark cubans not a complete moron)? Fuck man idk but as long as it doesn’t include Khash or the frp I say do it. At the end of the day, if the Bucks decide to make a win now move this is the one to make.
Holy shit I can’t believe you’re still reading (but thanks)! To conclude, my pizzle personally prefers we ride out the moist one’s contract and see if he’ll decline his option to renegotiate a pay cut or if he holds higher value as an expiring contract (gut feeling tells me he will). A move that shakes up the bench mob (Timelord/Gafford if possible) would be great but not at Khost (see what I did there 😏). We made it to the end thank god. Up next is the quasi-rebuild tomorrow. As always tell me how wrong I am in the comments 👍🏼.
What’s up, deer friends?
#GO BUCKS!
Not sure if it’s really needed, but to further stress some of the importance of getting below the apron by the trade deadline. Won’t have a real opportunity after then to get below it.
