AO Arena & viagogo

I just bought tickets for a gig next may of viagogo and admittedly didn't do enough research into them. Does anyone know if the AO arena will let me use the tickets? Or if its just a big scam? Any advice will be greatly appreciated, currently a wreck

cat sanctuaries that allow indoor adoption

hey all, I've been looking into getting a cat after the new year's and scoured through a bunch of sanctuaries these past couple of months. problem is that I live in a flat in central with no ground floor access, and most if not all shelters require cats to be let outside. does anyone know of any shelters that allow you to adopt cats as an indoor cat (the flat is a pretty spacious 2 bed one), or if there are any workarounds for this?

what the heck has happened with my council tax?

I'm taking to Reddit because the MCC helpline is closed right now. Ever since I moved into my new flat in August, Council Tax has been the biggest pain in my neck. Here's what's happened so far:

-August: First CT bill comes in, in my landlady's name. I don't think about it, set up the DD for £132 a month and go about my life

-Setpember: I apply for a single person discount and get approved. New bill comes through but the amount hasn't budged despite me paying in September and so th amount is higher. I am confused. I also go flat out broke in September, so you get why I am stressed right now.

-October: I finally get around to sorting this out, I get told the amount I paid in my landlady's account will be refunded and I am to pay it into my account. This bit is my fault, my ADHD brain forgot it.

-November: I get told I've missed a payment (the one mentioned above), I pay it and then apply to pay my council tax over 12 months. I breathe a little easier.

-December (right now): I get my new bill that tells me that, despite setting up a 12 month direct debit, I am due for four payments in December, January, February and March, all of which are £170 which-and I cannot stress this enough- I can not afford. So I am confused as hell. And when I check my Council Tax summary on eCitizen, I was told my December payment is £54. Even more confusing, my total payment on the paper bill is £688 while online it says it's £570.

So now I am very confused and had a straight screaming fit seeing the bill breakdown. I applied for a 12-month bill specifically because of my financial situation (I'm one person and make less than £2000 a month). Hopefully I'll get to call the Council tomorrow, but any light that can be shed on this would be appreciated.

If anything; should i believe the paper bill or the one on eCitizen?

Night out in Altrincham

Recently moved to Timperley and am having a small house warming/birthday drinks next Friday in the new house, then out in Altrincham as a change of scenery (lived in Manchester for 9 years so have done the city centre plenty). Where would be good to go out from 9pm-2/3am in Altrincham? We’re happy to go to more than one place. There’s gonna be about 10 of us (2/3ish lads).

Place to chill in/near Northern Quarter?

Long story short, I'm coaching into Manchester for 4am for an appointment at 9am. Could probably sit in the coach station if I have to, but any recommendations for somewhere more comfortable would be appreciated!

am i the only one who just cannot find a job here?

I moved recently and ever since I have found it impossible to find a 9-5, stable job or source of income. I'm on UC and go to the job centre but I still cannot find anything, the competition is just too high here. are others struggling as much as I am? even the simplest sounding jobs have 100+ applicants and multiple stages of interviews, tasks etc. I understand that manchester has a lot of people like me moving here therefore more competition, but I have never experienced anything as soul-destroying as this has been. thanks

A stranger spat in my face (Didsbury)

As the title says - I (female, 30) was walking along Wilmslow road in Didsbury when a stranger (male, 30s) walking in the opposite direction stopped in front of me, made eye contact with me and very deliberately spat in my face. I was totally shocked and didn’t say anything but managed to dodge most of it. The guy walked away without saying anything. There were a few people around (all males) who definitely would have witnessed it but no one reacted in any way. I’m a bit stunned that this happened in broad daylight and don’t really know what to make of it. Has anyone had a similar experience in Manchester? What did you do?

Hairdresser help

Hey guys,

Ive got a full fringe and I’ve had it for 10 years and I’m struggling to find someone in Manchester City centre to actually cut it properly.

I’ve recently moved and it’s not really feasible to get to my old hairdressers and someone has ruined my hair. Does anyone know of any trustworthy hairdressers in the city centre? (Withington at a push) (Bonus points if you have a fringe and can vouch for them)

Stockport MP paid by India to find out UK state secrets

I've just seen this on my local Facebook group. Thought it was just a dumb conspiracy theory at first but it's been covered by Politico and The Mill. This isn't the first time. Why are so many South Manchester politicians corrupt as the day is long?

"Stockport Labour MP Navendu Mishra asked 14 parliamentary questions relating to the UK’s relations with India since September 2023, but failed to declare he had accepted thousands of pounds in donations from Indian organisations." - The Mill

Labour MP failed to declare Indian donations in questions to ministers

Navendu Mishra tabled 14 written questions on U.K. relations with India but did not highlight donations, POLITICO scrutiny of parliamentary records shows.

A Labour MP asked a series of parliamentary questions on Indian interests while failing to declare he had accepted donations worth thousands of pounds from Indian organizations.

https://www.politico.eu/article/uk-labour-mp-navendu-mishra-failed-declare-indian-donation-questions-ministers-parliament/

Navendu Mishra is NOT loyal to UK. He was asking every dept how many of their staff is in India. Fishing out how many UK spies are in India. All of these questions have been written by India. @NavPMishra Shame on you! No wonder some MI6 source dobbed you in to @POLITICOEurope https://x.com/YELTSTV/status/1859986292735607002

Here are his details so we, the public who pays his wages, can ask for his side of the story:

☎️ 0161 480 0833

📧 navendu.mishra.mp@parliament.uk

https://www.facebook.com/NavenduForStockport

I've sent an email and I urge anyone reading to do so too. Only takes a minute and tells these scumbags that the public aren't willing to put up with this craven corruption anymore. These people thrive on people turning a blind eye - don't let him get away with it. Making bank from selling out the country that gave him every possible advantage in life.

Charity events year round

Hi All, what are the charity events that take place in mcr and how can I be apart of them. I’m looking for something to do on my weekends and I’d take to participate for the lovely city of Manchester.

Anyone going Sam Fender on Friday that wants to meet up for a pint beforehand

Going Sam fender on Friday at the coop arena. Looks as though I'll be on my own, so would be nice to have a drink or two beforehand with some other fans

Who wants to play sports?

I’ve started a sports networking club for working professionals in Manchester.

It’s been a month and we’ve got over 100 members in the club!

We play squash, tennis, bouldering and are planning more and more sports across Manchester.

It’s a really respectful community for those that don’t always like socialising around alcohol and the corporate events.

All skill levels are welcome. It’s here for people to get fit and grow a network.

I’ve met some really good people from it.

Wooly Miracle

Hello everyone! Please accept my apologies for how random this is but I was wondering where I could find someone who is really good at sewing? I bought this lovely wool jumper from a charity shop and it's my favourite thing I own, but has lots of holes in. I don't feel confident that it is something an alterations / dry cleaner shop would do properly, but also the online ones charge ridiculous amounts . I am a student who just wants his jumper fixed! Will happily pay if anyone feels confident they can do it / swap the sewing for free GCSE and A Level English, Film, or Media tutoring if anyone needs that :-) Please help! (I also can't do it myself because I have absolutely terrible hand eye co ordination. Yesterday I walked in to a lamppost)

Traffic

Has the city centre traffic always been this bad? I've never so many cars in my life over the last couple of weekends. People waiting an hour to get about 1 mile, its ridiculous?!

Any suggestion for someone in desperate need of a job

I’m asking here because when I search temp agencies online it’s all for middle to high work (hard to find entry level ), and the uk jobs subreddit (most are in London) any suggestions just need something to get back on my feet and pay for certs to get something else going , don’t matter how dangerous or boring or shit the jobs is as long as it’s not illegal or immoral( I don’t mean like morally gray I mean drug dealing or selling alcohol etc )

Also anyone know any temp agencies I don’t mind manual labour jobs as I am a male and strong (stuff like railway or bin men work or warehouse)
