I recently applied for the Resident Life Advisor position and made it to the interview stage. Unfortunately, I wasn't selected for the role because I have to complete a two-month fieldwork placement next year. Many of my fellow applicants shared the same opinion about the interview panel, feeling that they were unprofessional. It seemed like they preferred hiring individuals from Asian backgrounds, possibly to take advantage of our work ethic without offering any breaks. The interviewers were quite young and seemed unprepared, relying heavily on reading questions from a screen and showing little understanding of how to conduct a proper interview. Interestingly, everyone who had fieldwork commitments was also rejected.
I’m currently looking for participants for an experiment about how current understanding of psychology applies to contemporary content such as that seen on the World Wide Web. In this experiment, we focus on the kinds of content seen on video sharing and video playback websites such as YouTube and Vimeo. You must have lived in the UK for 12 months prior to participation.
This research is conducted by the Department of Computer Science of the University of Manchester and will take place in the Kilburn Building of the Oxford Road Campus. The experiment takes approximately 50 minutes to complete and participants will be compensated for their time. If you’re interested or have any further questions, please DM or contact me via email: sarah.clinch@manchester.ac.uk
Anyone lived there and how did you find it? Is it really as unsocial and quiet as I’ve heard?

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to know your opinion on the lack of integration of the Chinese students of this university (not sure about others). I am not a student anymore but I have observed this phenomenon plenty throughout the years. UoM is flooded with international students with most of them being Chinese students. However, unlike most of the other international students, I see almost zero effort from the Chinese students to integrate themselves a bit more in British culture or just interact with the other students. They literally only hangout with Chinese students, only speak Chinese unless they are forced not to and eat mostly foods they’re familiar with. I have even done some teaching and couldn’t help some Chinese students that were struggling because their laptops were entirely in Chinese and I had no idea what to do. Same with assignments, their English is almost always extremely poor and barely improves overtime due to the lack of practice. I am not British myself and English was not my first language but I have always tried to make friends with English speaking people to learn the language as soon as possible and understand the culture a bit better.
Hello,
I'll be joining Uni from fall '25 as an International PG student. I have shortlisted few halls and would like to know which would be best and how are their overall management and maintenances.
I really like Park View and Unsworth Park too but I'm not sure if PG students can apply for them. If anyone knows about this too please let me know.
Requirements for a hall - Close to Uni, nearby grocery and other stores and not too noisy since I'm not really into night parties.
Any lead can be appreciated. Thanks!
Looking for someone to takeover my tenancy, from December.

What should I do?? I don’t know if they will reach out to me or my referee or I’ll have to mail them accordingly…
👋 Hey everyone,
I wanted to share a free tool I've made with our ai supervisor.📋 A paper planner (gannt chart) 📊 that you can download and print to help manage your time. 🕰️ Just tell it your course, study level, what type of paper it is (essay, thesis, lit review etc) and how long you have till submission and we will make a chart with all the relevant areas you need. 📝 I have attached a cog neuro one for lit reviews over 12 weeks. 🧠📚
Hello,
I wanted to know which En suite hall is best at Uni. I'm not really into night parties. So, it'll be good if the Hall is a bit quiet. My course starts from Sept '25 so I still have some time to look into accomodations.
The result juse released... and i got 62 in the assignment and it occupied 40% in total mark...... back to my undergraduate time at university of Toronto, I never get a mark in essay assignment under 75... ONLY god can save me..
Sooooooooo nervous rn, have no idea bout how to improve my mark of this course....
I've received conditional offer for Msc Finance course. But the only thing stopping me from accepting are funds. Scholarship seems tricky here. And to accept the offer ill have to pay £2000 deposit which doesn't guarantee scholarships. I've got good grades 9.22 Cgpa and I'm pretty confident that I can get decent scholarship but if I don't I'm fucked. What should I do?
The new printing system is absolute rubbish! Errors 24/7 and buying printing credit always troubles, the IT guy’s also not knowledgeable about the system Anyone else facing the same problem?
Im considering applying for chemistry. Any insights would be appreciated! :)
