A few amazing people from my workplace are opening our community farm cafe on Christmas Day between 12pm-4pm for anyone that would like some company this Christmas.
Food and drink will be provided for free, please be aware this is an alcohol-free event.
Anyone interested can sign up at Strawbale Cafe, Greenslate Farm, Greenslate Road, Orrell.
Seen a few posts on here reaching out to blokes who could use to make a friend or two around the Wigan area.
Seems a lot of us are in the same boat, either moved here from somewhere else or just find it hard to meet folks as an adult. I reckon we need an unofficial “man club”!
I’ve been chatting to a couple of guys and we reckon we should meet up at the jam night at the FatBird on Thursday night. Should give us something to talk about or laugh at, and a no-pressure chance to meet some other folks wanting to make friends.
In time we could swap the venue and bring our Mrs (my girlfriend would also like to make some new mates) and stuff like that.
Anyone up for it?
Edit: This is definitely getting some traction!! Thinking about 7pm for myself and probably only there an hour or two this time around. Next time my Mrs will be looking after the dog so can be longer!
Hello,
I’m currently in Bolton and I’m having a very hard time finding a hire/rental car. I’m 24 years old and I’ve called multiple hire companies, pretty much all of them have a minimum age requirement of 25. I’ve also used comparison websites, but the only few options I’ve found are a bit far away in Manchester, which is not ideal for me. I found enterprise car club but no cars available but it is a little bit upsetting that there is a age requirement of 25
If you have any advice or know of any hire companies in nearby towns (not city) that offer cars to under-25s, I would greatly appreciate it. Any help would be fantastic
Much appreciated
27 M moved to Wigan 5 months ago from Chorley after breaking up with my ex.
I'm a freelance 3D artist so I have lots of spare time in-between jobs, the only time I leave the house is to walk my husky or go to the gym.
Ideally looking for nights out, going for a coffee or just anything in general - I love gigs and recently been getting into local music too, but I'm not a fan of standing around on me tod 😭
Any questions then ask away!
(Husky is called Lilith and is the friendliest dog in the world)
I’ve read it’s kinda meh and “rough”. Has the opinion changed or still the same?
I was looking at a property near the Parsonage Retail park. I’m disabled. So, I cannot drive, so having everything near me is convenient.
I have to give concession to getting into the City Centre. That would take 2 buses.
What are some areas/streets to avoid in Leigh?
Many drug addicts and anti-social behaviour?
As the title says. We moved to Ashton around 6 months ago, originally Coventry but London and then south Manchester for the last 10 years. We just had a little one, 4 week old boy, that’s kinda why we ended up here rather than the ex council estate we were in (and you get a lot more house for your money!)
Anyways, I’m a social guy but I’ve moved away from most of my mates (for the 3rd time) and although not looking to replace them it would be nice to have a few people around here to go for a beer or have a couple over for food (my missus is Italian so she cooks good) or mess about in the garage
I work in tech, i like a craft ale, I have a 1986 MK1 Golf car project and I’ve recently launched a social media app for car enthusiasts. I like to keep busy!
I’m 39 if that matters
Looking at a few places in that area of Wigan.

Any feedback from people with kids at these schools or family with kids etc would be helpful.

Could someone describe what Leigh is like as an area please? don’t spare the details, don’t know the area just wanting to see what locals have to say about the place.
What’s there, what is there to do, what are the schools like, what’s it like for children, what’s the inferstructure like, whats general every day life in Leigh like. Cover all grounds if possible
Cheers!
I am planning to view this house on Thursday afternoon, but I am not local to Wigan so would just like some feedback on the area! I really like the look of the house, but I would also like to know what the surrounding areas are like too. Many thanks!
Do the folk of Wigan, call trousers pants or trousers? Asking as I saw another post saying that he lived in Wigan and everyone he knew called them pants like Americans do.
Just took me over an hour to get back from Wallgate to Shevington because had to backtrack 3 different routes due to flooded roads.

Is that true and where do you buy them from? Is it just any pie let to go cold and then frozen or can I get half baked frozen ones?
Cheers

Hello everyone,
I hope this message finds you well. I am currently an intermediate-level developer with skills in JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. I’m passionate about coding and am looking to connect with others in the Wigan area who share an interest in programming, whether for collaboration, learning, or simply discussing coding topics.
If you’re working on any projects, are interested in meeting up to share knowledge and ideas, or know of any coding groups or meetups in the area, I’d love to hear from you!
Looking forward to connecting with fellow enthusiasts.
Asking the real questions, just popped into my head, miss him.
Hello you lovely Wigan people, I’m new to the area. Tried the local Chinese last night and it was bloody awful! My son is an avid member of the salt and pepper fan club. Any recommendations or pointers for a damn fine Chinese? Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know where there's somewhere decent to go on a Friday night that isn't completely dead? Am on King street and it's completely dead. Any suggestions?
