I enjoyed reading it well enough, but kind of thought it shit itself in the last two arcs. Loved the vast majority of the design and style but thought the second to last arc went a bit too far and I found it a struggle to keep up with what was going on. Halfway through the anime series and enjoying that quite a lot. Will watch the movies. How are the sequels? What was it like reading week to week?
Title and where can I watch it online? Can’t find it on Crunchyroll or anything.
I constantly think that Kurono must have become a member of some special Japanese military force or even a teacher in the Japanese army.
After everything that happened, I don't think he would live a life just being a guy in a regular job.
Kato would be more the type to have become a teacher or doctor.
Here's the thing: Tae's role in the story is to be Kurono's girlfriend, help him in his character development and be his main motivation for surviving Gantz's missions, but other than that she's a pretty bland character. Her entire character, personality and actions revolve around him. Even when she is forced to survive alone during the Katastrophe, she only manages to stay alive through blatant plot armor rather than any merit of her own, with her almost all the time crying and saying "Kei-chan".
On the other hand, Reika is a more interesting character. She demonstrated throughout the series to be brave, noble and kind. She's sacrificed 100 points numerous times and is a capable fighter. And as much as cloning a Kurono was reprehensible, overall it was a moment of weakness in what was otherwise a spotless track record of hers, which just shows that she has flaws like everyone else.
My point is that Tae is a one-dimensional character, while Reika is a flawed, multifaceted character that makes mistakes. Regardless of which one you prefer, Reika is much better written and complex compared to Tae and I will die on this hill.
Why was Tae made a target? Wasn’t the objective of Gantz to protect Earth from the alien immigrants? Tae was just a normal human girl. She’s the only instance we see where a human becomes a target.
The only explanation I can think of is to motivate Kei to stay in the game so he would have the chance to revive her but I’m not totally sold on that.
Also, a bit off topic, but how was Kei not fucking belligerently angry with Izumi after killing Tae (and those shooting victims, at that)? I felt like he let Izumi off the hook there a bit. Fuck that guy lol.
Hey everyone,
I noticed that Gantz Omnibus Volume 1 has been released digitally on the Dark Horse website (link here) just recently on November 12, 2024.
This got me wondering: does anyone know if Dark Horse has made any official announcements about releasing the entire series digitally? I couldn’t find any information about when the second volume will come out or if they plan to release all the volumes eventually.
Would really appreciate it if someone could share any sources or updates about this!
Thanks in advance!

In a perfect world, I would absolutely prefer to have the single volumes rather than the omnibuses. Anywhose, I’m lookin to get more collectibles when I’m not broke af. ,,,, Also, peep the RIP SLYME CD! Glad to have the anime opening song on physical media.
The aesthetics of the manga and the drawing seem great to me but I have read without spoilers that the ending is terrible, is the journey worth it? is it so terrible? thanks for your opinions
It's been some years now since I finished reading Gantz. It was absolutely entertaining 10/10 and one of the most unique mangas I have ever read. Can't recommend it enough.
But: When the Aliens arrive at earth with their spaceship and start using humans for food, they just drop the dead bodies unprepared on spaghetti.
I mean come on! You build a giant space ship that compresses your entire civilization within a smaller space but you can't dismantle and cook the meat source of the planet you just conquered properly? Give me a break!
Am I the only one who thinks that way? ;D
