So, today I finished catching up with the manga. Is it just me, or it looks like things are being totally rushed, and there are some plot holes which are a bit...nonsencical?
I understand the rushing thing since Miura died, and they probably dont want to drag the story forever, but the whole "lets just remove from here a fuckton people for basically no reason just 3 chapters after 364" (cof* Isma *cof)?
Anyway, fuck Griffith
I know the flowers ain’t quite right but I still quite like it
So for my birthday I am going to buy two volumes (deluxe edition) but I dont know which.
I know I want the first one because I love black swordsman and it the only complete arc I could get with 2 volumes but, I dont know about my second one yet. Should I just go with the second one for golden age and most the iconic scenes or go with the 5th and get the eclipse and the start of lost children?
What are your thoughts? I know its depends only on my preference but Im still interested what yall think since I wont buy any more volumes in the near future so I want to make the right decision. And if it wasnt obvious, I dont have any volume rn.
I Just fineshed watching the anime and seeing the last episode made me mad irl
I’ve got some other berserk style stencils that I’ve made and sprayed, do you like this? Do you want things like this?
Berserk Collection "Black" Variant 1. Italian edition +Dur-an-ki Italian edition
*Panini Comics"
So, basically I stopped reading after what happened to the author, but I heard he let his ideas to his crew or smth and they are keeping making new chapters, so I was wondering if those are still good
Well, let's go back on the road with a new speculation that Berserk inspired me. I’m including my previous post here
https://www.reddit.com/r/Berserk/comments/11o1vhh/ending_of_berserk/
To avoid repeating concepts I’ve already expressed, let me remind you that this is just a fun speculation from a huge fan like me, and of course, it’s open to plenty of debate.
After reading Berserk many times and experiencing the masterpiece, I’ve noticed some coincidences or possible messages.
I’ll start with one thing I’m certain of:
Written in the Holy Book, with the exact same statement:
I’d say quite straightforward.
2. The Falcon of Darkness Is...
Obviously, it’s Griffith/Phemt, no doubt. If there's one certainty, it's this.
But… quite ironic is that Guts, in the Conviction arc, is mistakenly taken many times for the Falcon of Darkness. During this period, when Griffith isn’t in the physical world, many people, like the Church and Farnese, believe Guts could be the Falcon of Darkness. Miura portrayed Guts as quite frightening, even seemingly exaggerating at times.
The culmination was in the Conviction arc, where he was fighting against (fake) angels.
3. The Dream Revelation and the Interpretation
It’s important to state that this isn’t a clear prophecy but rather a vision/dream. And what comes out of it is an interpretation, which is why it’s tricky and ambiguous. As we know, this dream, experienced by almost every human being (except for Farnese), shows dark scenarios. And suddenly…
From a classical interpretation perspective (which Berserk is not), a falcon of light sweeps the darkness. People interpret this as the saviour that they desire. The “mistake” here is because, as we know very well, the bearer of light exists in the deepest shadow, which is not true light—it’s an illusion, like Griffith’s dream and Falconia (a fake Utopia). In reality, the Falcon they see is the cause of the darkness they experience, yet they want to believe in a fairy tale, an illusion built by the Godhand. Personally, this is where the association of the Falcon of Light/Savior originates. Misinterpretation of the revelation (which is a façade of the prophecy) because... they are the blind sheep.
So, Griffith is not the saviour, but people wrongly see him as such. Many (wonderful) drawings by Miura portray him this way even apparently exaggerating at times.
Meanwhile, Guts is overlooked while he embarks on his journey to Elfhelm and no one (more or less) cares about him.
4. The role of Farnese and...
Farnese is the key in this speculation. I created the following graphic summary to recap and explain her growth:
Farnese’s transformation will be completed when she evolves from a witch-hunter to a witch.
5. … and The Falcon of Light/Savior is…
Well, I’ll start by using the term “saviour” to make this less confusing. If Miura had this in mind, as the brilliant narrator he was, he wouldn’t make it obvious, which is why it remains debatable to this day. Perhaps he wanted it open to interpretation, something I personally like to believe.
With that said, the saviour will be Guts—the one who will end the Age of Darkness, as I speculated in my previous post. If this does happen, it’s ironic, as Guts would fulfil a misinterpretation of the revelation dream. I say ironic because that wasn’t the true meaning of the dream, but in a very Berserk-style twist, people (outside Falconia) could mistake Guts for the Falcon of Light—the one who will sweep away the darkness—in much the same way he was once mistaken for the Falcon of Darkness.
6. Signs of Guts being the Saviour
7. But Guts is not the classic hero
Here, Berserk reveals its dark fantasy roots. Guts is constantly on the edge—one wrong step and he could harm his friends and lover, even destroying himself. He can’t fight alone; he needs people to help him, even to control himself. Miura explored this brilliantly in these arcs. If Guts can control himself and his rage and vengeance, he might win his war. But being the saviour won’t be easy.. and it’s a long way struggler!
Conclusion and Recap
So, thank you if you’re reading this now, and to summarize: if Guts stays on the right path, resists the beast within, and wins/stays alive in the battles to come, he could become the saviour, for me, Guts is the greatest HERO of the modern Age and yes, many could come to see him as the Falcon of Light, fulfilling a misinterpretation of the revelation Dream in a very ironic way since there is only one prophecy (the Falcon of Darkness). Who knows… people might even separate the Black Swordsman from the saviour, thinking they are two different characters. Perhaps Guts’ appearance could change drastically—aged, with fully white hair—before his death… just a fun speculation. Hope you enjoyed at least.
I finally started reading berserk a few weeks ago. I’m completely up to date now. I’m curious as to how they release the manga. Do they release it a single chapter at a time or a full book? Is there a site that isn’t pirating where I can purchase a digital volume or chapter at a time? Sorry if it’s a dumb question. This and Naruto Shippuden are the only manga I’ve ever read.
Compound fractured my arm which is now covered in scars so I figured it’s time to sleeve up. I have a few images I’d like to get done but I’d also love some inspiration from other fellow fans. Show me your favorite art either from the manga or by other fans. Any help is greatly appreciated!
ive been meaning to watch berserk for a really long time but i dont know which version to watch. ive been told either the golden age arc or the og i was leaning towards the og but then i also wanted to read it. should i read the manga then watch 1997??? id like ur opinions because i really need to watch/read it
I re-watched the anime (1997) on a whim. It is a delight to see the drawings and the animation. That’s what kept me watching. Certainly, there is some nostalgia, too. But the writing and characters are much more wooden than I remember. I despise Guts. He is less a character and more a plot device. The exposition-dumps from characters are tiring. One thing I had forgotten was the almost “Game of Thrones” willingness to do savage things to characters, such as Gut’s murder of the General’s son and the severe torture of Griffith. It adds a realpolitik element to the story that many fantasy stories (at least in anime) are unwilling to make. I have plenty of love for the art and boldness of this series. Would be happy to hear support or criticisms of my point of view from other more knowledgeable fans. Thanks.
I don’t really wanna paint it bc I might screw it up😭
Just thinking if he was a victim of void how did he get out probably caught him off guard but how do u even escape before he became op?
