Currently in the NG, transferred over from active in June. I will be attending a military funeral that is not affiliated with my current unit and I need to get my blues set up again.
The problem I'm facing is my units insignia is unobtainium and no one even knows what unit awards we even have. I also do not want to spend $50+ just to get the insignias and have them shipped on time, especially since I leave the guard in less than 4mo.
What are my options here?
I’m at about 10.5 years in right now, I’ve done intel, medical, and now finally I’m rounding out the back half of my career with signal. A complete outlier. What should I expect? How can I stay competent and at a good pace with the curve early on? I don’t know jack about IT, but I’ve been working with computers for 25 years. I’ll be 25A.
Hey, my boyfriend is starting rasp in the next few weeks and i’m assuming he won’t have phone access at all, but is that true? I’m seeing some things that say after the first few weeks he will get it on weekends?During OSUT he got it every sunday for 90 minutes but i’m sure rasp won’t provide that luxury.
So I popped hot over 2 years ago. I had been seeing an outside medical professional for my issues and they prescribed me a medication that came up in a UA. I brought in the prescription bottle. All was forgiven… until Recently. New commander is demanding I get the print out of my medical prescriptions from the outside community. While I don’t mind red flags are popping up to me. Something tells me this math isn’t mathing! Is this something that has happened to anyone else?
So I just pcs from fort Carson to fort Irwin December time got to Irwin in January and around early December I had a loss of jurisdiction it was around the time I was clearing I feel like I’m freaking out a bit back in August 2024 I did have a investigation for extra marital but was found unfounded would anyone maybe have some insight on what could be wrong and my s2 said they didn’t see anything about being able to pull me into their cage thanks in advance
Also to state I’m a 92F I know a security clearance isn’t required
Please side message asap
Before I begin. I realize that Pokemon really isn’t a big deal. You don’t have to say “bro, it’s just cards.” I understand.
It is, however, a hobby that makes Soldiers and their families happy. It’s something that barracks Soldiers can do when stationed overseas away from their family and loved ones. It’s something that military kids can do when they’re ripped away from their home and follow their parents overseas.
The fact that the shelves are completely bare because a couple overweight, unshowered, greasy, stank ass, dorks can walk in with a shopping cart and buy everything off the shelf is absolutely wild. Even more wild is that on Thursday mornings the normal people are in uniform and waiting to buy a single box. The “people” buying to resell are out of shape, in sweats on a work day, and have carts ready to clear the shelves.
The PX is there to support Service Members, not as a method for these “people” to make a quick buck from taking away from service members, their kids, and their families.
It’s a small thing, but it’s assholes stealing joy from Service Members and kids at the end of the day. It’s also a bigger problem in the civilian world, but I don’t think civilian stores owe anything to the public.
The PX does owe something to Service Members.
Fix the problem.
Either limit the amount of an item someone can purchase, or ban unshowered people from making purchases. Either would be effective, for this specific problem. I think the first one is probably more fair though.
Hi,
If anybody can help, I’m preparing my niece for college. She graduates this June . Both of her parents were in the military, one retired from the marine. I want to know is there any funding she can look into from FAFSA or other resources for being a military kid?
Both of her parents went to college after her too. Neither parent disabled.
She’s looking into NYC colleges but based in Delaware right now.
Just looking for any additional resources or training aids to utilize in my study time before going to JFO and if there's anything additional I should know or prepare for that those of you went wish you knew.
I'll take a white monster and a 6mg zyn.
As the title says i might be PCSing soon. I say might because it is a compassionate reassignment so it is not set in stone yet. (plus i don't believe it'll happen until i have orders in my hand). If i do PCS it'll be for Ft Sam Houston, San Antonio since im a secret squirrel and my family is from texas. i was wondering if any of you could tell me any pertinent info about the units that i might be going to and the climate of the units.are there barracks or does under e-6 get bah? i ask that specifically because i am a divorced e-4 currently receiving bah at my current duty station. thank y'all for any answers.
ill take a pepperoni and cheese tornado from the shoppete thank you
Close to the 2 year mark of my career and rather early on I was in a training accident that left me unable to do a lot but still not bad enough to get me medboarded. I want to go to schools and attend events however I don't know of any that I can even have a chance of getting a slot with my current injury. I have full intentions of trying to continue in my career and even reenlist as of now, however I doubt that I can considering I can't even do an acft and so far my PT has been consisting of going to the gym and only doing minimal upper body.
I'm posting to see what options I have not only for schools to get promotion points but also what I can do in the future to further my career or take the loss and ETS when my contract is up. As of now I fully intend to drop a flight warrant packet, but unless my injury gets better I feel as though I won't make the cut.
It is my autographed ace of spades card I got signed when I was deployed as an airborne Ranger medic from the 75th Ranger Regiment to sit in a room with Saddam in shift rotations with another medic from the 75th and whichever Battalion medic was currently in theater.
soo I went to a recruiting office and was handed a flier that showed benefits on active duty and reserves, blah blah. But what was also there was the SMP program. It caught my eye as I do have desire to commission. Has anyone personally done SMP? I did my reasearch on it but I wanna know stories about it if anyone has. Ty :)
I'm wanting to reclass, and I was wondering how accurate for AIT dates being open is ATTRS vs retain. Im trying to make a list of MOS i want to reclass and currently using ATTRS to see if AIT dates align with my DEROS.
Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I am pending PCs to korea April 10 2025, I am currently pending divorce but court might be after my PCS date. I and legally separated with 25% custody but still receiving full BAG and BAS. If I wait to divorce after returning next year and go to Korea still married, will I keep BAH and BAS? Is it dependent on weather I keep my rental lease or not? Or would I even still receive BAH if the divorce can be finalized before PCS? Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Been looking forever but I cant find a NSN for a solvent tank for our arms room. I remember in the armorers course they gave us an NSN for a new green one but for the life of me I cant find that handout. TIA
I am in the US Army reserves and haven’t gotten paid since July 2024. After leaving AIT and joining my current unit in June, I stopped receiving my pay because of a supposed debt that I incurred while on active duty status in TRADOC. I owed about 3k in BAS money that I was never received in the first place. Normally while you are in BCT and AIT you receive payments for BAS and they get deducted right away because meals are provided at the DFAC. I guess someone at DFAS or S1 noticed and to fix the issue they generated LES with a lump sum of $3k and deducted it right away, making the net amount of that LES $0. That should’ve solved my issue but instead the debt still shows under the remarks section of my LES and all of my drill and AT pay has been deducted ever since. I spoke with a lady from DFAS and she told me to speak with my s1 and coc. I submitted a pay inquiry twice with all my LES’s attached showing I never received any BAS payments already and I haven’t been getting updates. My 1SG and unit commander (full bird) are aware of the issue and are supposed to update me directly. Its been 3 months since I submitted the pay inquiries and its been 7 months since I last got paid, I find the situation ridiculous and I am getting to the point where I no longer want to be apart of the army. How do I escalate the situation? Can I request a discharge? I was plagued with pay issues (Not receiving BAH) during training so my whole experience in the army so far has been horrible and I just want to get out.
Tier 9 for 68K, but I get conflicting information a lot. Some say it’s 50% upfront, the rest paid out annually, others say it’s 100% upfront.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated
Eggs, fresh out of the shower please
On those weekends without work, how do you make the most of them? So far I saw lots of people saying education (i.e., college courses), drinking/hanging out/gaming, going out, gym, side hustle/jobs/businesses, volunteering. But I've also seen some people say fishing, hunting, sports clubs etc.
I imagine this depends on where you're stationed and what you have near you (europe, korea, japan, vs US, etc.). And whether you have a family. For example, how realistic is going out on day/weekend trips, or going camping for example? Any unexpected hobbies, or activities that you've been able to pursue?
Personally, I'm planning on working toward a masters degree (i have a bachelors), and getting a side hustle. But I'm also interested in volunteering, short trips (road trips, camping, sight seeing), networking on the civilian side (online nowadays i guess), finding a creative hobby (maybe DIY things), and running a marathon (a long term aspiration for sure).
And on the side, when you do have work on weekends, what is that like? On-call? MOS related? Something else?
Any recommendations for prescription eyewear for the field? I only wear glasses on night shifts in the hospital or when in the field. I'm reserve-side, we've got NTC coming up, and I need a new pair anyway so I figured I'd find something durable.
I’m an 11B CPL(P)(26, 27 at time of ETS). I’m unable to CSP due to a current rotation out of country, with little time to prep my exit from service. What certifications/education should I pursue that’d have the highest likelihood of close total compensation to my current paycheck(ie Base Pay/BAH/BAS).
Currently, I have plenty of reclass options, as long as give up my P status. Any suggestions on this are welcome as well.
I have until this coming October to figure it out.
Good evening y'all. One of my future fathers-in-law is combat veteran, currently living in Texas, close to Jarrell. He submitted his claim multiple years ago which got him I believe 60-70% disability. He served in Iraq as 11B, and based on his medical records, I truly believe he should easily be able to get 100% if he files for reevaluation again. I know he works for living to support his family, and it is hard for him to do research on his end. I was wondering if any of y'all live in Texas that has connection for VA claims attorney or specialists that could assist in getting higher disability for combat veterans?
Thank you for your time and service!
Very Respectfully

Some back story, I received an PME start date for Jan 5 - March 7 back in November. My second child is due on March 19th. My wife a stay at home mom and I had had a long sit down discussion and decided to defer to remove the risk of myself being in PME if she were to go into labor early but agreed that I attend the next Course. Recently just got another class for May 26 and was initially excited for me. Now she is bringing up that she can’t take care of both kids on her own for 4 weeks , a 3 year old, and a 6 week old. She refuses to take the drive to her parents house with me because of her worry of illness without 2 month shots for the baby and the 3 day car ride there. She refuses flights due to the cost and lack of supplies she can bring with her. She blames me for this problem and she thinks I’m trying to just get away from her. I’m at a loss for words and don’t know how to convince her otherwise.
Lookin for some insight into this. I’ll be going as an E-5 towards the end of this year.
Hello, so currently I am a 12B and I’m in my first contract, I’ve always wanted to fly but didn’t want to go through college or G2G then I learned about dropping a flight packet and going warrant. I want to know what would entail making this switch, should I wait it out until my second contract to try and pick up 5 or try and hopefully drop the flight packet asap.
So I’m at AIT right now and graduate in a couple weeks. When I first raised my right hand I was proud to sign up and start this journey. I have a lot of family who proudly served so I was initially excited. Now I’m just embarrassed. I can’t believe the people that I joined with. I’ve never met so many entitled, irresponsible, immature people in my life. Nobody here tries to give a 100% in what they do. Everyone takes the easy way out of everything. They find ways to skip PT, trash the barracks, always show up in the wrong uniform, cut class, trash and break everything in the school house, people (male and female) are doing their makeup and shit in the middle of formation, fail ACFTs and somehow get waived through or just given a pass, people treat each other with no respect whatsoever, I’ve watched people ride profile the whole way through basic and they’re doing it the whole way through AIT as well and find the easy route through everything. People talk back to cadre and Drill Sgts and don’t call at ease for them and it blows my mind. I’ve heard people say things like “fuck this country I don’t want to serve I’m just here for the benefits” “If they tell me to deploy I’m not fucking doing it”. I could go on and on. Maybe I’m just naive but have things always been like this. I’m genuinely embarrassed to tell my family who have served what my experience has been like so far. I feel like it’s a joke and I feel like I’m at an adult day care not AIT
I know everyone says no one regrets dropping a warrant packet but I'm curious about the job specifically. what is an ammo warrants day-to-day like? what is their "scope of practice"? what would all you 890As rate it on a scale of 1-10/10?
I leave for basic this Sunday and up until this week I was fine. But each passing day I think about how I’m not going to be able to see certain people and what not and it’s weird. Kind of a sad feeling but I’m also exited about leaving and doing cool shit. Is this normal? Also I’ll have the bit of chicken that’s been sitting in the back of the freezer for 4 months thx.
Edit: thx for the replies. Guess what I’m feeling is normal. Going to leave this up if anyone else feels like this and wants to ask the same question.
