Hey all, I am an incoming transfer that will be living in Eighth College who will be bringing a car down with me (at least for the first quarter) and just got denied a SR permit. I have off-campus obligations 2-3 times a week so I do need my part. I know about the D permits but I was more so wondering what is the consensus about parking in the neighborhoods across the street, especially the neighborhoods around La Jolla Scenic Dr and/or Gilman Dr.
If I moved my car, say every other day, would that be okay? Thanks for the insight
Hey guys! Moving into Rita this week; does the appt come with shower curtains &/or towel hooks?? Couldn’t find much info online… thanks!
Every school has a different norm on books: some institutions expect you to have them the first day, for some that’s a major no-go and the profs want you to wait and get what’s on their syllabus after the first day.
I only have one class that has listed it’s reading reqs (LIGN 17), and it’s cheap.
Thanks for helping out an anxious transfer!
It's over a week before classes start and I got no friends on campus. Anyone else in the same boat? What are you guys doing in the meantime?
(Inspired by the post over at r/b)
Ah, r/UCSD, where the sun always shines but the social life doesn't. Where students say they’re too busy for the party scene because “I’ve got research,” but you know they’re just vibing alone at Geisel Library, waiting for their next La Jolla Cove sunset to post on Instagram.
You claim to be a beach school, but half of you have never seen the ocean because you're too busy crying in Geisel Library. Speaking of which, how's that 20-hour study session going? Don't worry, I'm sure your GPA will love you back someday.
Let's not forget the eternal struggle of trying to find a party on campus. Spoiler alert: there aren't any. But hey, at least you can always count on the raccoons for some late-night company.
Oh, and who could miss the quarterly tradition of "Is UCSD really as socially dead as they say?" Yes, dear freshman, it is. But look on the bright side – at least you'll have plenty of time to perfect your Reddit posting skills while you're not socializing.
You all brag about being in a top-tier university, but spend most of your time complaining about the dining hall food. Newsflash: no amount of HDH complaints will make your chicken less dry.
At least you can always count on the trolley to get you off campus... oh wait, it only took 50 years to build. But hey, now you can escape to downtown San Diego, where you'll realize you have no idea how to socialize with non-UCSD students.
Remember, you chose this. You could have gone to a school with actual school spirit, but instead, you picked the place where the biggest social event is a guy eating a Costco chicken. Stay classy, UCSD
Im a second year and I’m really confused as to what is the difference is between triton cash and “triton cash meal plan”. Like can I still use the TCMP at the bookstore, Starbucks or any place on campus that accepts triton cash? is it just there as a back up if i use all my dining dollars?
sooooo it’s gonna be my last year at ucsd and me and my friends wanna make a bucket list for the last year. any recs pls drop in comment and hopefully this is also nice for the future (this has probably been done before lol)
Will billing be the same every quarter? With all my aid, I didn't have to pay anything for this billing and I should be getting an estimated refund back. I'm only confused because when I got my financial aid, subtracting all my grants and the Pell grant I was estimated to pay around 12k for the year yet I didn't have to pay for anything this quarter since my grants (being divided into 3 for every quarter) cover it all
Does anyone know what stores are at each stop for the grocery shuttle? It only shows the stops and route online
I’m position 11 on the waitlist for DSC 80 which has 90 spots. I know I’m outside of the 10% rule but I’m assuming most people on the waitlist aren’t DSC majors because they would’ve enrolled a long time ago. Since I’m a DSC major (enrolled late bc I’m a transfer and had to clear petitions), shouldn’t I have waitlist priority? Then, if at least 2 people are non-DSC majors on the waitlist I should be in the top 9 or 10%. Is this realistic?
Hello! I just finished my last quarter at UCSD in summer session 2 and I was wondering when are DDA’s updated ? I just got offered a full time job that offers 30 an hour and they will do a background check for my degree / diploma so I am nervous
Am I cooked for fall? BICD100 with Andrew Cooper, Tsai for Phys 1a
Hi everyone. Im currently an undergrad senior about to finish my BS in finance but I would to get masters in aerospace engineering. Is that possible at UCSD? By the time I apply I will have finished all the lower division AE classes and taken thermodynamics and fluid mechanics as my only upper division classes. Do I stand a chance at getting accepted?
anyone have the building layouts for the new eighth buildings? can’t seem to find them.
i want to know what side my room will be on
I recently got a private loan and they sent my information to UCSD but I'm kinda nervous because I don't think it's going to disburse in time. I also got the MCS but I heard that isn't going in until after fall quarter so I need more money to be disbursed this quarter. Is that even possible??
im too lazy to type out pepper canyon west so how to abbrev it without it sounding like price center west
anyone interested in 3v3 ims for basketball?
If so, what is it like? I've only taken undergraduate solid state physics and a micro fabrication class.
I submitted my waiver on 9/6 and on 9/13 I got a comment saying "Additional Review Needed". My status says it is "Denied - Pending Review" and I have the action to 'Edit and Resubmit". Confused as the instructions say things for being Denied or Pending Review but not both. I haven't received any emails about UCShip besides the inital confirmation email. Wondering if I should resubmit the form or just wait for an email to actually come on the status?
I was awarded the cal grant B but it never showed up on my financial aid offer. But now I’m reading that people will get a cal grant if it’s been awarded to them but it hasn’t showed up on their financial aid offers? The cal grant amount is different than everything else I got so I’m confused. Am I actually getting this cal grant amount or am I being fooled? I’ve seen people talk about September 17th being the disbursement date and I’ll find out then but still would like other people’s insite.
Finally secured off campus housing but I can’t move in until Oct 1… can’t commute from home. What have yall done ?
do the bedroom desks at pc west have chairs? all the pics ive seen there are no chairs in the desks in the bedrooms
Hello, I have several reasons why I do have to come home a few times throughout the month and I found out that I have to purchase a D permit daily to bring my car to school. I have an in person tutoring job as well as an monthly ortho appointment.
Has anyone been in this situation? Confirmed my fin aid offer right when they come out, to only finding a Cal Grant email from months ago that I overlooked telling me to confirm my school to get awarded. Completed that process and got awarded but has not reflected on fin aid page in triton link. Does fin aid auto update or would I have to contact aid office for them to manually update? Thanks
Hi I'm currently applying as a freshman for UCSD class of 2029. I'm currently a senior in high school. I really want to go to UCSD and it is one of my top choices. I was trying to find information about eighth college but I can't find that much information about it online since its a new college. Seventh college is my first choice college and Muir is my second choice college. Does anyone have any thoughts for someone interested in those colleges? I am planning on majoring in Earth Science and I was also wondering if anyone had any information about that. Thank you!
Does anyone know how long the application usually takes to waive out of ucship and show on triton pay?
I am a freshman in seventh but assigned to Warren apartments with sophomores. I am an introvert and worried about making friends as I will have to walk over to seventh if I want to take part in any welcome week activities. Anyone have any experience with this ?
Hello, so i took cogs 11 during the summer and I was just checking the audit to see what requirements I have done and what's left. I was looking at this section of the audit and was confused. For my social science requirement I have to take 3 courses which I was planning to take cogs/psyc courses to fill that requirement. I took cogs 11 p/np during the summer. I am wondering why its not showing up as a completed course in the audit. It should show up as the LIGN 8 class which i took for DEI. I am worried that I would have to retake a course :/
does anyone know if ur able to possibly cancel the 12 month lease over the summer for pepper canyon west? in case you get an internship or something over the summer? or should I cancel my housing contract right now and find something off campus
