Read our rules here.
Here are some guidelines and rules. Some or all of these rules extend to our sub:
Be NICE and polite to others. Though you are online and safe behind your computer, you are interacting with human beings here. We want to create a helping, friendly and safe ecosystem where our student community could feel comfortable and encouraged to come ask and answer questions and reply. If you behave belligerent, truculent or combative, unkind or nasty you will be removed or banned. Keep your attitude in check. This forum is an extension of our campus. What you won't say to others in person, you can't say here hiding behind an account. Reddit's usage policy is strongly enforced here. Please read reddiquette. Follow Reddit Content Policy.
This rule was made due to multiple troll and spam accounts. You cannot make an account just for this SDSU. Reddit is the 3rd most visited website on the internet. Joining this sub is privileged-- meaning it takes time and investment to build an account with history and karma. If you don't already have a reddit account, then this subreddit is probably not for you. If you are new to Reddit or r/SDSU, then this is subreddit is not for you. Recently made a new reddit account and wants to come to r/SDSU, then this sub reddit is not yet open to you. We don't allow alt accounts, thowaway accounts, spam accounts, dont-care accounts, one time accounts, karma farming accounts and anonymous accounts. This is a community of students, alumni's, and faculties, and their friends and families and we want to establish trust. An account with no activity outside of /r/SDSU is considered as a throwaway account with no social capital and your submissions will be automatically removed. A new account with no history, no karma is also considered throwaway account. Read the sidebar section, 'Why was my post removed?' before making a submission.
Use this medium for good and meaningful discussions. Try to genuinely relate when you answer. Don't waste other people's time. Comments will be removed for derailing.
If you escalate anger or a situation, antagonize or badger the OP of a thread, and if the OP had clearly indicated your comments are unwelcome, you need to stop or else will be given a ban. This applies to doxxing as well. You need to chill the f out. No hate speech or witch hunt are allowed as well. This subreddit will strictly enforce policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment and retaliation against students. No one person or mods can police every comment and we ask your help to report weirdo's, and un-safe and illegal activity. Violation will have you banned.
An account you don't use for regular reddit use is a spam account. You need a minimum of 25 karma points to post on this sub. Automoderator will remove your submission if you don't have enough karma points. You also have to maintain your account activity and account history. You have to have a growing average of your comment karma score. You also have to make comments in other reddit communities. We do not judge or care what you comment upon as long as you are not breaking the rules of other subreddits.
Our students and their parents wants this to be a safe space and prefers to be left alone. Girls who want to promote their Only Fans , think again.
If you have a different opinion, you may post it separately. It's fine to argue and debate, but don't launch pointless Ad Hominem attacks. Violators will be warned and on certain cases could be given upto a 60 day ban.
When you make a submission here in this subreddit, construct a proper sentence / fully qualified title with diction that makes sense or pick a subject that is understood. Posts titled with just one word such as "SDSU" or "Nursing" are terrible choice as titles and such posts will be locked. Post titles must be a descriptive, and searchable using keywords, or will be removed. You are at-least 18. Act like one. This isn't so hard.
Post titled in ALL CAPS are also not allowed and will be locked or deleted. Titles in ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING! It's not appropriate sentence case.
This is an obvious rule. But it seems many students do not understand the academic honor code. At no time you may ask for past, present or future exams, assignments, quiz, or projects. This also includes access to their personal accounts or academic accounts, and passwords. You cannot ask for another students RED ID. Please understand academic honor code. Just because you are not on campus and is on the internet doesn't mean that honor code doesn't apply. If found in violation, your post will be removed and you will be given a warning. This is not just this sub rules. This is an SDSU law. I didn't make them. All US Universities have similar rules.
Such behavior will result in a ban from this sub. Please note that this includes behavior toward moderators. While we welcome constructive feedback and do our best to be responsive, we may not always be able to answer to your liking. We see no reason to require fellow mods to endure attacks, disrespect, or shitty behavior.
No companies/prospective employers shall post here with ads, unpaid "internship" opportunities (or UNPAID job opportunities as if that's not obvious) and solicit our students for free or cheap labor. Our students are poor, and need money, most live on cup noodles. We don't go to Private schools, we are just a state university living bare minimum. We need real job/internship opportunities, and you shall not exploit them. If there is no pay, don't bother to post at all. Also, if you want to pay less than ideal or the going rate payments because we are "college students", then go look else where. Pay what's fair or get lost.
No posts asking volunteers for "research" purposes and offer money in return including University/Medical research/Drug and Pharma. These includes your 'survey' links. Our students are not your lab rats. UCSD, please pay attention to this rule.
No discussion of illegal activities. This includes underage alcohol, tobacco, and drug use, weapons at school, underage nude photos, and anything else illegal in the State of California, San Diego County, or San Diego City. Feel free to do what you like, but take it elsewhere. Report abusers, suspected psychopaths, information on individuals carrying weapons and other obvious weirdos to campus police.
Violators will be warned or banned when possible. Trolls or egregious violators may be banned without warning.

I'll have an A.S. and ADT for Comp Science soon.
I was interested in the Computer Engineering BS degree too though.
My GPA as a transfer student would probably be around a 3.5 considering all classes I have taken, but even higher in just my major classes (more like 3.8).
Do you think I'd have a better chance of getting in to SDSU's Computer Science BS program with the ADT or their Computer Engineering BS program with just a A.S. in Computer Science?
I went to the first few lectures and thought it was a waste of time because the prof basically just re-read the readings. I just recently lost points (for the first time this entire semester) and now he is saying that attendance is mandatory through the school but his syllabus mentions nothing about attendance. Is this true?
If there’s any chance you see a dark blue glasses case with blue glasses inside, please let me know! I lost my glasses on campus today and that’s the last place I was sitting. Please please please
As someone who wants to go to SDSU for grad school and currently goes to UCR I know how shitty housing can be at times, and I have seen that the surrounding apartments at SDSU aren't the best but at this point it kinda only gets worse so wtv. But overall making this post to find out whats the best off campus apartments to look at or if there is a better alternative that anyone may have experienced or recommends plz lmk. Any Advice Helps!
Hey all! I play the drums and I was wondering if there is any space at SDSU where I can just walk in a play the drums? Either with a kit from school or my own?
I know some students play in parking lots, do they just go ahead and setup or do they ask for permission?
I got a presentation today and it would be my lucky day if I don't have to do it. Anyone have any info?
Does anybody have spare tickets for the basketball game on 12/7 (this saturday)?

Hello everyone, I’m currently taking FIN 325 with professor Byeongje An and he is a very nice professor. I am scared that I won’t be able to get a C in the class and that my grade would be 68 or 69%. Does anyone know if he curves?

i'm a senior in high school and have a 4.0 weighted gpa as i submit my application. my semester ends in a few weeks and i will end up with an F in a college class. is my life over
I'm looking to transfer to CSULB or SDSU for computer engineering.
Im currently at a community college getting a Computer Science A.S. and A.S-T and should be done after Fall 2025.
I have a background in Marine Biology at a prior university (Cal Poly SLO) that I'm hoping a lot of credits will transfer in also, because I'm not sure how many Computer Science Credits will be accepted.
My gpa will probably be around 3.6 or more maybe, after I get my A.S. in Fall of 2025. My current GPA is probably 3.5 or so cumulative from all the community colleges/colleges I have credit at.
If push comes to shove, I'll just be going for Computer Engineering alone, but I'm pretty set on doing both if it is possible in 3 years.
Does anyone know anyone whose done something similar? I just love both honestly and would like to have a career that includes both.
When it comes to SDSU acceptance, will it be hard to get accepted in Computer Engineering with my GPA??
Hi everyone, I'm transferring from a CC in California (San Diego) to a CSU.
From my early days of community college, music was my major. I Dropped out.
A few years later i went back for engineering. And am still currently studying engineering.
when it came time to submit my transfer application I got inspiration to transfer into music ed and become a music teacher. I submitted my application to transfer as a music major.
I feel like I'm panicking and made the biggest mistake ever. How can I recover back into engineering?
I have nearly all of my engineering coursework done, just my final spring semester left before I was ready to transfer into engineering.
Please help :(
Does anyone have any experience with Math 531 with Curtis?
I’m picking my classes for the spring semester and I have a time conflict between two classes I absolutely need: psy230 and psy281. The catch is that the “Technical Activities” component of psy 281 is the one causing the conflict. I’m not sure what a Tech Acts class is, but I’m wondering if I could get by attending only the Large Lectures and doing all my homework?
Hey guys! I'll most likely be transferring here for the fall 2025 as a junior. I have zero idea on how housing and getting roommates work. Could someone fill me in on, on campus housing or on campus apartments and how you get your roommates. Like if you get to pick them or have to find them yourself or if they're randomly assigned. Again I have zero idea on how this works so if you have any other important information I did not ask for please drop them. Thanks!
Also- i want to make sure I can trust whoever my roommates are and feel safe with them. So if you have any info for that include it. Thanks y'all!
hi, if i order online for utk through my meal plan, can i have a friend pick it up (without giving them my id card?) can this also be used as a way to let someone else use my meal plan if i am out of town? thanks!
Hi everyone, I’m writing a story for a class about students and their struggles to land internships. I know the market is tough right now and that a lot of students are struggling in this market. I would love to be able to interview a few students who have experienced the internship search and give those students a voice on their experience. Please dm or reply to this if you are willing and have the time!
I had no change in my financial situation between 2021 and 2022 but my SAI went up from 311 to 3810. I’m only getting half of my 2024 year pell grant amount. Does that affect the Cal grant and Institutional grant amount?
Not even gonna be in SD. Selling for cheap lmk
I finished applying for housing for spring 2025. If I get one, because I'm a transfer, when will i be notified?
Hi guys, just for some background information, I was okay freshman/sophomore year with biology and chemistry, but as I'm trying to take the pre-PA route as an undergraduate student, the two best choices I have are to major in either field. I didn't take any of the AP versions of these classes in high school, and for someone who isn't super crazy about either subject, what would you guys recommend from experience? Anything helps, thanks.
Hey everyone,
I’m an international student from Germany coming to SDSU for my 4th semester this spring, and I need to pick 4 courses. Here’s what I need: • 1 Economics-related course. • 1 IT-related course. • 2 others that are loosely connected to Business or IT (like Entrepreneurship—nothing too intense).
Have any of you taken courses that fit this and are especially easy? Or maybe you’ve got some recommendations based on your experience?
I’d really appreciate any tips or advice—thanks in advance!
Hey everyone, I plan on transferring to sdsu for the spring semester and I am currently filling out the housing license agreement. I recently did my research on sdsu and it’s demographics. I already have acknowledged how small the black community is here and thought that it’d be nice to share the upperclassmen housing. I genuinely don’t mind housing with anyone but it would be a bonus if the person I am with is familiar with my culture and important things like background and hair. It sucks that there isn’t a black excellence floor for upperclassmen/transfer students. Let me know if you’d like to get to know me to be your potential roomie! What is the black community like here anyways?
Also are we allowed a notecard similar to the midterm?
For reference, i havent been to class since the midterm. So id appreciate it if u could tell me if he said any other important info regarding the final.
if i know im going to fail a class and ill retake it next semester, should i even continue to do work? will there be any consequences if i dont do anymore work this semester? thank you in advance!
am i able to drop a class now for a W? i can’t find a date about it anywhere, are we not allowed to? if i can’t drop do i just have to take the L?
