Rules

Read our rules here.

Here are some guidelines and rules. Some or all of these rules extend to our sub:

1. Please try to be civil, and respectful to each other.

Be NICE and polite to others. Though you are online and safe behind your computer, you are interacting with human beings here. We want to create a helping, friendly and safe ecosystem where our student community could feel comfortable and encouraged to come ask and answer questions and reply. If you behave belligerent, truculent or combative, unkind or nasty you will be removed or banned. Keep your attitude in check. This forum is an extension of our campus. What you won't say to others in person, you can't say here hiding behind an account. Reddit's usage policy is strongly enforced here. Please read reddiquette. Follow Reddit Content Policy.

2. Your reddit account has to have a minimum age, karma & history.

This rule was made due to multiple troll and spam accounts. You cannot make an account just for this SDSU. Reddit is the 3rd most visited website on the internet. Joining this sub is privileged-- meaning it takes time and investment to build an account with history and karma. If you don't already have a reddit account, then this subreddit is probably not for you. If you are new to Reddit or r/SDSU, then this is subreddit is not for you. Recently made a new reddit account and wants to come to r/SDSU, then this sub reddit is not yet open to you. We don't allow alt accounts, thowaway accounts, spam accounts, dont-care accounts, one time accounts, karma farming accounts and anonymous accounts. This is a community of students, alumni's, and faculties, and their friends and families and we want to establish trust. An account with no activity outside of /r/SDSU is considered as a throwaway account with no social capital and your submissions will be automatically removed. A new account with no history, no karma is also considered throwaway account. Read the sidebar section, 'Why was my post removed?' before making a submission.

3. Do not derail threads and conversations.

Use this medium for good and meaningful discussions. Try to genuinely relate when you answer. Don't waste other people's time. Comments will be removed for derailing.

4. Do not put down your fellow student

If you escalate anger or a situation, antagonize or badger the OP of a thread, and if the OP had clearly indicated your comments are unwelcome, you need to stop or else will be given a ban. This applies to doxxing as well. You need to chill the f out. No hate speech or witch hunt are allowed as well. This subreddit will strictly enforce policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment and retaliation against students. No one person or mods can police every comment and we ask your help to report weirdo's, and un-safe and illegal activity. Violation will have you banned.

5. No spam, trolling or throwaway accounts.

An account you don't use for regular reddit use is a spam account. You need a minimum of 25 karma points to post on this sub. Automoderator will remove your submission if you don't have enough karma points. You also have to maintain your account activity and account history. You have to have a growing average of your comment karma score. You also have to make comments in other reddit communities. We do not judge or care what you comment upon as long as you are not breaking the rules of other subreddits.

6. No solicitation for sex or promote your OF.

Our students and their parents wants this to be a safe space and prefers to be left alone. Girls who want to promote their Only Fans , think again.

7. No fighting because somebody shared their opinion.

If you have a different opinion, you may post it separately. It's fine to argue and debate, but don't launch pointless Ad Hominem attacks. Violators will be warned and on certain cases could be given upto a 60 day ban.

8. Construct a proper sentence / fully qualified title

When you make a submission here in this subreddit, construct a proper sentence / fully qualified title with diction that makes sense or pick a subject that is understood. Posts titled with just one word such as "SDSU" or "Nursing" are terrible choice as titles and such posts will be locked. Post titles must be a descriptive, and searchable using keywords, or will be removed. You are at-least 18. Act like one. This isn't so hard.

9. No titles in ALL CAPS

Post titled in ALL CAPS are also not allowed and will be locked or deleted. Titles in ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING! It's not appropriate sentence case.

10. Academic cheating is also against this subs rules

This is an obvious rule. But it seems many students do not understand the academic honor code. At no time you may ask for past, present or future exams, assignments, quiz, or projects. This also includes access to their personal accounts or academic accounts, and passwords. You cannot ask for another students RED ID. Please understand academic honor code. Just because you are not on campus and is on the internet doesn't mean that honor code doesn't apply. If found in violation, your post will be removed and you will be banned. This is not just this sub rules. This is an SDSU law. I didn't make them. All US Universities have similar rules.

11. Behave. Don't be a dick. Or a psycho.

Such behavior will result in a ban from this sub. Please note that this includes behavior toward moderators. While we welcome constructive feedback and do our best to be responsive, we may not always be able to answer to your liking. We see no reason to require fellow mods to endure attacks, disrespect, or shitty behavior.

12. No unpaid "internship" opportunities posts (or UNPAID positions)

No companies/prospective employers shall post here with ads, unpaid "internship" opportunities (or UNPAID job opportunities as if that's not obvious) and solicit our students for free or cheap labor. Our students are poor, and need money, most live on cup noodles. We don't go to Private schools, we are just a state university living bare minimum. We need real job/internship opportunities, and you shall not exploit them. If there is no pay, don't bother to post at all. Also, if you want to pay less than ideal or the going rate payments because we are "college students", then go look else where. Pay what's fair or get lost.

13. No asking volunteers for "research" purposes

No posts asking volunteers for "research" purposes and offer money in return including University/Medical research/Drug and Pharma. These includes your 'survey' links. Our students are not your lab rats. UCSD, please pay attention to this rule.

14. No discussion of illegal activities.

No discussion of illegal activities. This includes underage alcohol, tobacco, and drug use, weapons at school, underage nude photos, and anything else illegal in the State of California, San Diego County, or San Diego City. Feel free to do what you like, but take it elsewhere. Report abusers, suspected psychopaths, information on individuals carrying weapons and other obvious weirdos to campus police.

Violators will be warned or banned when possible. Trolls or egregious violators may be banned without warning.

Anyone else find it interesting their almost no protests on campus?

I’ve been at state for a while now and I’ve been genuinely surprised by the lack of protests on campus, I remember one Palestine protest and that’s it. Loads of schools in California are protesting tomorrow about ice, trump and project 2025 but I don’t think we’re doing anything on campus. Anyone have thoughts on why our school has so few protests?

ocean 320

I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken ocean 320 before because I am enrolled this semester and a requirement he has is that you're supposed to spend at least three hours every single unit on canvas (which he tracks) but literally his units are three different slides, and they are extremely short? I just don't understand how I am supposed to take three hours reading these?? if I leave canvas open on my computer, but I shut it will it still track the time or no??

How many years will I spend at SDSU as a Civil Engineer major transferring with T.A.G?

Hi guys, I'm currently freshman at San Diego Mesa community and in my second semester, but I was wondering after transferring how much longer would I be spending at SDSU? I assumed I would only spend another 2 years there but after some research I am not so sure. If it ends up being longer than 2 years is there a way to shorten that? I just do not want to spend more money than I need to spend. Thank you for any help!

I feel like having gaps in ur schedule is overhated

I see so many ppl stress about having a 3 hour gap in their schedule, but I was so much more productive whenever I had a gap.

I often spend that time doing hw, and actually being productive. As opposed to being at home, and procrastinating due to my ADHD and natural self.

I love having gaps in my schedule, just not 7+ hr ones lol My gpa was the highest whenever I had a slight gap in between classes.

Question about getting out of pre-major

I was wondering if you need to do all your lower division GEs to get out of your pre-major? I am currently taking Phil 102 to complete a requirement, but I want to drop it. All of my lower-divison major classes would be complete this semester. Can I drop Phil 102 and take it next semester along with my usual upper-division major classes or would that put a hold on that? Thanks!

Physics 195L seperate from Physics 195

Just as the title suggests, I'm in physics 195 right now. Is it possible to take physics 195 lab as its own separate class in the summer and is it doable?

  • Bathroom: Shared with 1 person
  • Parking: Yes, you get a spot

Granada Question

I have a group of five friends (six including myself) that I would like to live with next year in sophomore housing. We would prefer to live in granada since they allow groups of six, but it seems like roommate groups can only be either two or four people. Would we be able to split into a group of four and a group of two and then pair up again to have all six of us in the same group next year? One of us has priority housing with student disability services if that matters. Thanks!

Can I transfer to SDSU in spring 2026 as an f1 student?

i am aware that transferring in the spring is dependent on whether or not the major i'm applying for is actually accepting applications but i just wanted to ask generally, if i am allowed to transfer Spring 2026 as an international student.

i was on the website earlier and i saw something about SDSU not offering spring semester first-year admissions which then made me anxious about my own status despite not being a first year. is there anyone that had any experience with a similar situation or any information on this? thank you!

Fun classes to take at sdsu?

Anybody know any fun classes, preferably online but if they’re fun I don’t mind going in person, that are easy A’s that could give a GPA boost? I know there’s a lot of classes like bowling and surfing and things like that but they’re only one unit and I need a little bit more than that

sublease sublease sublease

Hello,

My friend CD is looking to sublease his room 5 mins from SDSU at 5665 Lindo Paseo

The apartment complex has many perks, including free events like chicken and fries nights, Red Bull giveaways, and other fun activities to meet people and relax. The rent is $1,150 per month, which includes utilities and furniture—so no additional costs to worry about and is negotiable as well.

For parking, there’s plenty of space across two buildings and a personal parking lot, which costs $50–$100 per month depending on your vehicle.

I paid a $400 community fee, which grants access to everything the complex offers, including the rooftop terrace, parking, gym, and events. You can pay me whatever you’re comfortable with—no worries!

If you’re interested or know someone who might be, you can contact him via WhatsApp at 720-965-6081 or email at chirayudeshmukh9@gmail.com.

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Thank you!

Is it safe to go to Tijuana?

Me and some friends are going down to SD soon. We're all early to mid 20s guys. Mostly white but a few are latino. We wanna go down to Tijiana but just wondering about the safety of it. My mom says I'm gonna get shot but I think she just spends too much time watching fox news lol. Is there any actual hostility towards americans with everything going on or is it fine and safe?
