Taking History of Rock ‘n Roll college course and this is going to fit in perfectly next week when I wear it.
A few years ago , I found this video on YouTube. It was a guy giving commentary and showing a bunch of clips. One of the clips was of the Melvin saying that they were extremely surprised that idiots like Nirvana band members were able to get successful and they were not. There were clips where buzz was justifying the fact that they never really got the fame nirvana did. Then there was a few clips of them talking very disrespectfully about Kurt after he passed away. I was wondering if anybody could find this video, and if they do, share it here. Thanks.
So I got this guitar in 1992, I think the sticker is from 95 but Im not 100%, I know it's definitely pre 96. (Apologies for the quality, I don't have much feeling in my fingers, so it's hard to take good pics)
The sticker came from a magazine like Kerrang or similar. Thought it was pretty cool.
The guitar is now in pieces to be rebuilt and mounted, I can't play anymore due to disability and I sold every other instrument but this was my first electric and also a gift from my late mother so couldn't ever let it go.
I also just noticed that their is the remnants of some gold italic Ink I put on there that said RIP KURT (was one of those sheets you etch in using a pencil to transfer the lettering).
Definitely going to try and preserve it better now I've remembered, but it's not in too bad a state considering it's ~30 years old and I played/gigged the hell out of this thing.
Big Nirvana fan who can't afford their classic issue on SansAmp. Really after a pedal that would not only suit my needs for Nirvana tones but also dial in great dirt for a pedalboard. Is this SansAmp GT2 good?
Title says it all. What's the best SansAmp clone you've ever used under a few $$$? Currently looking for one to emulate Nirvana tones. Amp modelers are just so convenient.
Currently eyeing Behringer GDI, Joyo American Sound, or ANOTHER pedal!
Flogging A Dead Angel
I don't think In Utero is the best of 1993 in my opinion(that would belong to Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins), but In Utero comes in a close second, my other favorite albums of that year would be:
•Enter The Wu-Tang - Wu Tang Clan
•Souvlaki - Slowdive
•Midnight Marauders - A Tribe Called Quest
•Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements - Stereolab
•Yegor i Opizdenevshie Егор и Опизденевшие - Сто лет одиночества
•Hearwork - Carcass
This one isn't for the snobs, but for an '80s pedal that has withstood the test of time, does not cost a lot of $$$, and looks sick as hell, you can't really ask for more.
I recently got this from an old collection of other related vintage pedals and immediately had to test it out to see if it was able to keep up with Nirvana songs.
It doesn't really take much to "sound Nirvana", as one may see any distortion pedal will do, but it is a bit difficult to sound close to what Kurt had offered with his pedals.
What do you think? Does this imitate the tone well? Let me know! :))
PS: All songs were played in half-step tuning.
Full disclosure, there's no doubt that its a banger and I loved it when I was younger, but its far from their best song in my opinion. I just wonder if anyone else gets this the way I do.
I struggle in my mind to kind of attribute this song to the band, if that makes sense. I dont know whether thats because it gets so over-played and had commercial success (against what kurt stood for) so maybe its lost its sheen for me... I love Nirvana and have done since I was 12 when the 'Nirvana' album came out but weirdly SLTS lacks the intimacy, resonance and meaning that I feel with almost all of their other songs. Does anyone else get this? Or am I just a pretensions contrarian?
Also featuring super cool Jesus Lizard T-Shirt
It's not 1:1, but I tried my best getting the settings to sound as close to what Kurt's tone was. This pedal is a cheap, vintage, and user-friendly pedal from the '80s. What are your thoughts?
Airbrush, acrylic brushes, and some paint pens. 16*20"
It is a bit weird to still keep some of my old CDs I have replaced completely with digital media, but there it is. Do you still have Nirvana CDs? Probably yes. I bought Nevermind when I was 12.
I love Lead Belly, and I love Nirvana. The only issue with Lead Belly is the audio quality of course...sucks. Kurt was one of the few people I can find whos done a quality cover of Lead Belly, did he cover any other songs of his?
Im having someone make me a custom pennyroyal tea cd and case to go along with the other nirvana singles on a shelf. Is there any site that has a clear well-lit shot of the cd and the cover/back? I checked discog but its not as clear as Id like. Thanks for any help.
